Ekta Kapoor: Ready all set for the New Year

Whatever the Czarina of television does, she does it with great style. And holidays are special when Ekta Kapoor, the head honcho of Balaji, prefers to be with her close friends, away from the hectic lifestyle of Mumbai. Last year, Ekta Kapoor and her bunch of actor friends went to Goa to ring in the New Year.

Is she again going to be in Goa this year too? When we asked her about her plans this year, Ekta said, "I'll be certainly going out of town but not in Goa. After working round the clock this year, I need a break."

The lady isn't complaining about the tremendous work pressures but is certainly in the holiday mood. The buzz is that she is flying to Bali for the New Year. Apparently, Kapoor has organised a big party for her troupe on the exotic beach of Bali. "I'm very superstitious about my holiday plans. I actually don't want to talk much about it as I believe in people casting a bad eye," said Ekta. However, she admits that Bali is the destination she has chosen this year.

"Goa is now cliched. I want to be with my set of friends in a place that is away from this maddening city."

Great food, barbecue, lots of wine and champagne will flow for her and her gang. Accompanying Ekta will be a whole lot of TV actors including Shabbir Ahluwalia, Akashdeep Seghal, Suvarna Jha of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, Eijaz Khan, Nivedita Basu, Prachi Desai and Anita Hassanandani.

"Anita's plans are tentative," said our source. The actress is busy shooting for a film down South and will join the gang only if she gets permission from the producer. The five-day trip to Bali is what the Balaji family is looking forward to. "We all deserve to have a great New Year," said Ekta, keeping her fingers crossed.

Eijaz Khan to act in Meerabai Not Out

MUMBAI: After Indian cricketer Ajay Jadeja and West Indies cricketer Brian Lara, it's now the turn of Indian leg spinner Anil Kumble to face the camera in a Bollywood movie.

The film, titled Meerabai Not Out, stars Mandira Bedi in the title role along with Anupam Kher, Mahesh Manjrekar and Eijaz Khan. Meerabai Not Out is produced by Pritish Nandy and will be directed by award winning Marathi director Chandrakant Kulkarni.

The movie will go on the floors by the end of December 2006 in Mumbai and will be made under the banner of Pritish Nandy Communications. Mandira's husband Raj Kaushal, who has earlier directed Anthony Kaun Hai, will be the line producer.

"Anil Kumble is going to do a cameo in our movie. We hope to wrap up the movie by the end of January 2007. We have already finalised the release date, and will be releasing it before the World Cup. The film will be made under the banner of Pritish Nandy Communications," says Kaushal.

"Meerabai Not Out is all about cricket and the story revolves around an avid cricket fan and Mandira who plays Meerabai Not Out is the passionate cricket fan," adds Kaushal.

Also interesting to note here that Mandira Bedi shot to instant fame with her Extraaa Innings association on Sony Entertainment Television's movies and events channel - Max during the last World Cup. Bedi will also be a part of next year's World Cup.

Time Will Tell



Many couples of tellyworld have kept their affair to themselves and have left the press out of lives. Not to long ago the truth erupted about the affair between Eijaz Khan and Anita Hassandani. Although both had been spotted at numerous places together they denied them being a couple but in time they broke their silence and confronted the press and told about their relationship. Today these lovebirds are seen all over town sometimes kissing in cafes or taking strolls in parks.



The most recent couple breaking out in the rumor news are none other than Juhi Parmar and Anuj Saxena. Rumors have even broken out that Juhi and Anuj are so serious that they might be going to the mandir sooner than we think. Unlike Eijaz and Anita both Anuj and Juhi have told about their feelings to the public. However they didn't state that they were a couple neither have they denied it. At Anuj's party that was held a few days back, Anuj refused to go in until Juhi had arrived and when she did they seemed to be inseparable throughout the night. Isn't that something to question?



Riva Bubber and Sumeet Sachdev have been rumored to be a couple ever since they were paired up as husband and wife in the hit serial Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. Both of them share amazing chemistry just like Eijaz and Anita but don't have as intimate scenes with each other. Latest rumor buzzing about them is also something to so with holy matrimony, in recent reports both have said to be getting engaged very soon. Not to long ago Sumeet had taken Riva to meet his family members in Dehli and not short after that incident Riva had been seen keeping vrat. Going back a couple of months at Riva's birthday bash, Riva claimed that the best gift anyone gave her was none other than Sumeet! Nevertheless Riva didn't comment on what the gift was but for all we know it could have been a ring. Interestingly enough last weekend in a suburban park Riva and Sumeet were seen hand in hand walking through a beautiful garden. How romantic does that sound?



Yet both couples remain to be silent about their love relationships they cant hide from the facts. Even close friends of the couples can't help but think whether they are a couple or not. Will Riva and Sumeet join Hiten and Gauri as on and off screen husband and wife? Are Anuj and Juhi ready play the role of husband wife in real life too? As for now time will tell who is together and who is not!

Anita & Ejiaz - JUST MARRIED

In what could well be termed as a casting coup of sorts, tele stars Anita Hassanandani and Ejiaz Khan have been paired opposite each other in Meghna Gulzar's upcoming film JUST MARRIED.

So what's special about this 'jodi'? Well, the two played Kavya and Anjali in popular tele serial 'Kavyanjali' and are apparently considered a pair. In fact Ejiaz had even confessed his feelings for Anita in print. The film started getting made around the same time and the two were roped in as a couple.

Fardeen Khan and Esha Deol are the lead couple in JUST MARRIED. In this romantic comedy, they arrive as Ejiaz's and Anita's guests. This is the occasion where they meet for the first time and subsequently their relationship takes a deeper meaning before they get married.

We personally think television stars are far more bindaas about their relationships than the B-Town brigade. While the Bollywood brethren loves to keep things under wraps, the television brigade has no qualms about proclaiming their love on what else, but national television! Here's looking at five of the juiciest television hook-ups this year. Eijaz Khan and Natassha These two have got to be the best-looking couple in TV land, especially after their oh-so-hot chemistry in the now defunct show Kavyanjali. While they admitted to the romance in the early stages of their relationship, the affair hit something of an obstacle when it was rumoured that their parents were against the match. The couple then decided to go off press, but soon enough news filtered in that they had defied their parents' diktats and got engaged in a secret ceremony. Ah, the reckless passion of young love! Aryan Vaid and Anupama Verma Undoubtedly, India (or at least devoted viewers of Bigg Boss) was waiting with bated breath for Anupama Verma and Aryan Vaid to proclaim their undying love for each other on national television. But while Aryan shocked viewers when he shed tears over leaving his beloved Punna back in Bigg Boss's house, Anu's thanda response when she finally got evicted was something of a dampener. We've got this sneaky (okay, not-so-sneaky!) feeling that Punna just isn't feeling the love as strongly as Aryan now that she's a free bird. But we're die-hard optimists, so we're crossing our fingers that this couple will be just as cute out in the real world! Juhi Parmar and Anuj Saxena There were rumours of them becoming a couple on the sets of Kumkum in the early days, but they preferred to keep their fondness for each other hidden. Some time later, Narayani Shastri too entered the equation and things weren't all hunky-dory for this couple. In the midst of all this, Anuj went ahead and married a Delhi-based girl (arranged by his parents), only to get divorced in January 2006. Since then, Juhi has slowly but surely inched her way back into the actor's life and we hear she now wants marriage. The maverick that Anuj is, we think he needs time to recover from one broken marriage before he plunges headlong into another, wot? Rakhi Sawant and Abhishek Awasthi We were the first ones to tell you about the main man in the item girl's life. Of course, both of them denied the liaison then, but Rakhi's emotional outburst in Bigg Boss's confession room took everyone else by surprise. Abhishek, a former Cinestars Ki Khoj aspirant and wannabe actor, is the item girl's choreographer, manager and best friend. What's more, Rakhi says he's the man she wants to grow old with. We'll have to wait and see about that, but in the meantime, we suggest someone quickly grab the opportunity to capitalise on Rakhi's growing stardom and spin off a reality show on the Sawant family, much like The Osbornes on MTV. Should definitely make for some very interesting viewing, with Rakhi's mother bitching poor Abhishek out of her darling daughter's life! Mona Singh and Karan Oberoi After months of 'are they-aren't they', Mona Singh finally came clean about her long-standing relationship with Band of Boys singer Karan Oberoi during Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa. While they definitely make a very cute couple and share an easy camaraderie, their constant denials were extremely annoying, to say the least! We think this had something to do with the fact that Karan was in a relationship with another actress at that time. But when the duo met on the sets of Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahin, the rest, as they say, is history!

Khullam khulla pyaar karenge hum dono: Eijaz and Anita in their vanity van Putting an end to their hide-and-seek game with the media, Anita Hassanandani and Eijaz Khan walked in hand-in-hand on the sets of Kasamh Se, thus announcing their relationship as a couple to the world. The duo came to the sets of Kasamh Se to shoot a cameo in the serial. Apparently, the scene required some real-life couples featuring in it. So, apart from Hiten Tejwani and Gauri Pradhan, Eijaz and Anita too agreed to be a part of it. The intimacy between them was worth seeing as both of them have strived to keep their 'personal relationship' away from the media glare for so long. When quizzed about his alleged engagement with Anita, Eijaz said, "I'd never hide anything - be it my marriage or engagement. So, I guess that answers the question." On reaching the sets, Eijaz and Anita walked directly into the vanity van which they were sharing. When contacted, Anita said, "Please don't ask me any questions which I won't be able to answer. I hate telling lies." A confused Anita looked at Eijaz for his approval on her costume for the day. And Eijaz, like an obedient boyfriend selected the sari for his lady love. "Since, he doesn't like her in lighter shades, he asked her to wear a maroon sari," said a unit member. Said a source on the sets, "Since it was a day's shoot, Eijaz and Anita had agreed to do it. Anita is consciously staying away from the arc lights and is trying to concentrate on her film assignments down South." The love birds are currently holidaying in Bali with their mentor Ekta Kapoor
