Valentine's Day is a day of and for lovers - an occasion when affection, love, care, fondness….is openly exhibited. But what about those individuals who harbour reverse feelings for someone, who just can't get along with each other?

Let's have look at those television celebs who simply aren't eligible to go on a date on V-Day!

Shweta Tiwari - Ronit Roy:

This hit on screen jodi, in spite of being associated with each other since donkey's years for Kasautii…., have mostly made news for their squabbles off screen. Shweta and Ronit have locked horns on many an issues. For instance, during a holi scene Roy stuffed her mouth and ears with gulal and a vexed Shweta pushed him. There have also been times when she was made to wait for hours till Ronit rehearsed. And so all the credit goes to their acting skills due to which this duo can conceal their real life not-so-happening chemistry.

Rajeev Khandelwal - Ekta Kapoor

He was the best thing to have happened to Balaji Telefilms almost three years back. And the effect was vice-versa. Overnight Rajeev became a sensation and his show Kahin To Hoga enjoyed a good spell at the TRPs. But then, started the constant clashes due to his interference with the script, especially the way his character was shaping up. But Ekta being Ekta, did not budge and showed Rajeev the door. Result: Casualty to his stardom and the show's ratings! Now with Rajeev trying to get into her camp by giving statements, "I don't mind working with Ekta", you never know if his status of being Ekta's blue-eyed-boy will be retrieved.

Eijaz Khan - Sanjeeda

Known for his reserved temperament, Eijaz shared cold vibes with his co-actor Sanjeeda during the days of Kya Hoga Nimmo Ka. He's even stormed out of the sets when Sanjeeda got officious during his rehearsals. In fact, Khan went on record to quote, "I wouldn't like to comment on unimportant people and unimportant issues." But now as the only link (Nimmo) that bonded them is no longer in being, Eijaz and Sanjeeda are breathing easy.

Aamna Shariff - Gurpreet Singh

Imagine being accused of ruining someone's career! Yes, gossip mills have been churning tales that Gurpreet (Sujal - Part 2 of Kahin To Hoga) impeached his co-star Aamna with this blame. On the other hand, insiders believe that Aamna couldn't stand him for replacing Rajeev (her original Sujal). So fireworks were bound to happen. But now as its curtains for this long running show, we doubt if we'll ever get to see this pairing on screen again!

Bobby Darling - Salil Ankola

Now this is a casting coup of sorts. If one has been following Sony's Bigg Boss, it can be recalled how Bobby was snubbed by the handsome Ankola for his gender. Not only was this 'woman trapped in the man's body' royally ignored by Salil, Bobby was also hurled with sarcastic remarks! And what happened next was the very obvious melodrama by Bobby which didn't last long as Salil soon had to leave BB due to his contractual commitments. One wonders, if his stay had been prolonged, this friction would have definitely set the BB's house on fire!

Anita in Dus Kahaaniyan
By: Tushar Joshi
February 28, 2007

The actress is being paired with Nana Patekar and Rohit Roy in one of Sanjay Gupta's short films

She's been 'chilling out' for over six months. Having taken a break from television, Anita Hassanandani (formerly in Kavyanjali) is presently spending her free time working out and staying fit.

Now, she's geared up to play a part in one of the short films in Sanjay Gupta's Dus Kahaaniyan.

Says Anita, "I still haven't started shooting for it, but I recently did a photo shoot for the film."

Camera shy

Titled Gubbarein (Balloons), Anita's short story also stars Rohit Roy and Nana Patekar. "It sounds very interesting and is completely different from anything I have done so far.

I have never worked with either of my present co-stars, so it will be interesting to see how it turns out," she says.

Finally emerging from her self-imposed sabbatical, Anita will also be seen in a seven-episode cameo for Balaji's new show Kayamath. She says, "It's a romantic track with Eijaz (Khan).

It should be good fun, but I am not looking at doing full-time television work now. I am looking out for good films and am also meeting producers down South for interesting film offers."

When asked if she thinks the promos of Kayamath resemble Kavyanjali, she says, "Oh, I think it's so much better. It looks fabulous.

The first time I saw it I was reminded of Ash and Abhishek in Kuch Na Kaho. The director, Anil V Kumar, has brilliantly captured the chemistry between the two actors."

Recently, Anita was seen in a lean look hosting the curtain raiser for the Filmfare Awards with Chetan Hansraj. "I have lost a lot of weight and I feel ultra-confident about my look now.

Initially, the thought of being photographed was nerve-wracking for me. Now, I'm like, 'Bring on the cameras!'"

Ekta now wants a good figure

Ekta Kapoor has decided to concentrate on attaining a svelte figure and go slow on churning out soaps. She is all set to go on a crash diet, with the aim of losing 7 kgs in the next two months.

"I am going on a diet from this week. I need to lose at least seven kilos. At this moment I intend to give priority to my slimming plans over my career. In the next two months, I will lose seven kilos. That's a promise I've made to myself," says Ekta.

What prompted this drastic decision? Apparently when Ekta was in Bali with her friends for the New Year's, everyone just slipped into their swimming costumes and short skirts with the exception of Ekta cos she couldn't! That's when she began thinking about losing weight seriously.

"I'm not one to let challenges go by. As a child I was F-A-T, there were no two ways about it. If I had had the determination to become thin then, I can now manage to be really slim quite easily. Please wish me luck," she quips.

Television actors on celebrating Women's Day and if there should be a Men's Day
Anita Hasnandani--Who needs a special day for women? Though it's a noble concept celebrating different aspects of womanhood, one also needs to address the issues of girl child and self empowerment. Women rock and this day is just a reminder.

I'm against the idea of hav ing Men's Day because they don't deserve it. They are too arrogant and feel they are the best. Eijaz (Khan) says they need it, but I think otherwise.

Anita-Eijaz get popular with their fans

Balaji's dearie stars, the svelte Anita Hasanandani and the dashing Eijaz Khan have been turning quite a delight as a jodi for viewers in Star's Kayamath. What adds to the charm is the fact that this onscreen duo from the Kavyanjali days is a couple in real life too!

But what's going to be disheartening for their fans is the fact that Anita-Eijaz are short-lived in Kayamath. Bole toh, they are just doing cameos and soon their characters will fade away from this daily.

Somehow, looking at the public affection enjoyed by this pair (going by the postings on our forums), we hope that the creatives of this late night Balaji show do cash in on their popularity. Let's hope soap queen Ekta gives them some more footage in the upcoming tracks.

Hiten's fashion must-haves!

Hiten Tejwani, Karan Virani of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi is presently in a predicament as he is married to two women: Nandini and Tanya.

Karan is madly in love with Nandini, however, circumstance made him marry Tanya. Now that Nandini is back in his life he is torn between what to do. Who will he eventually choose? We've no idea and neither does he. So we ask Hiten to choose his fashion favourites, a less complicated choice than poor Karan Virani faces.

Perfume: Issey Miyake.

Clothes brand: I don't go for brands. If I like the clothes then the brand doesn't matter.

Jeans: Diesel.

Electronic gadget: My laptop.

Sun glasses: I don't wear them much.

Hair care: I don't use any products on my hair.

Accessory: I need to have my belt, shoes and Tag Heuer watch.

Shoes: My Replay boots. I like them because they are rounded in the front and not pointed.

Where do you shop the most: I shop in Lokhandwala, Mumbai.

Most expensive fashion item bought: My Diesel belt. It costs 6000 rupees.

The item which had most value for money: My jeans by Diesel were quite costly. They're available at 4000-5000 rupees but I feel they have value for money.

Wardrobe must have: I think it's important for men to have some perfumes.

Style secret: I don't think there is such a thing as style. To me style is choosing clothes what look good on you and carrying that off well. That's no secret!

What do you over spend on: I don't over spend.

What do you think you look the best in: Casual clothes like jeans and a T- shirt.

Style icon: I have never bought anything or worn anything because I've seen it on someone else. I haven't been inspired by anyone's style but I think Shah Rukh Khan and Hrithik Roshan are very stylish individuals.

    Iqbal Khan's fashion must-haves

Iqbal Khan is known as the rugged handsome guy from STAR Plus serials Kaisa Ye Pyar Hai and Karam Apnaa Apnaa. But, he has currently taken a break from work to spend quality time with his wife, Sneha. We caught up with the actor and asked him what it takes to maintain his dashing good looks.

    Perfume: Issey Miyake

Clothes brand: I don't go in for a particular brand. I buy anything that fits and suits me.

Jeans: Diesel. The fit of the new Diesel jeans is really good. They are slightly narrow from the bottom and look great.

Electronic gadget: I'm a seeda sadha guy and I'm not into electronics. I use a Nokia N72 phone but I don't look at all the features before buying one. I should be able to call and SMS. That's it.

Sun glasses: They are something that I love! I have many pairs (though not as many as Zayed Khan!), about 10 to 12 in brands like Calvin Klein, Tommy Hilfiger, Prada and Police.

Hair care: I use Tigi Bed Head's Hair Pudding when I'm working and shooting. Otherwise I need my hair normal with no products in it.

Accessory: I like my wallet. It's really big and has lots of things that I fit in like my pan card, license and business cards. I don't keep pictures in my wallet.

Shoes: I like light shoes. I mainly wear these light and trendy Diesel shoes, they are like formal sneakers. I buy them for Rs 1500 to Rs 2000. I have about 6-7 pairs of brown formal shows, 6-7 pairs of black formal shoes not to mention some boots and other pairs. I hardly wear any of them unless I'm shooting. I don't think I should buy any more and thinking about it I feel I'll give half of them away now! I don't think its right to waste money or keep things that you aren't using.

Where do you shop the most?
I shop very rarely. Usually when my wife is going out shopping I tag along with her. On the tenth time we go out I might pick up something for me. It all depends on whether I find something worthwhile. There is no specific place I like to shop.

    Most expensive fashion item bought?
I'm not a very fashionable person! I bought a Hyundai Accent two years ago. That was the most expensive thing I've bought and it isn't even completely mine yet. I'm still paying off the loan.

The item which had most value for money?
I think it's been my laptop. It's a brand new HP. I'm not very tech savvy but it's some new model. It was really expensive but it's also really useful and it helps me a lot.

Wardrobe must have: Personally for me I love wearing semi-formal shirts with jeans. I think all guys should have jeans and round neck t-shirts.

Style secret: I'm not stylish. The character I portrayed in my serial was slightly "with it" but in my personal life I'm a regular jeans and t-shirt guy.

What do you over spend on?
Nothing. I don't over spend. I believe it's wrong to waste money just because you have it.

What do you think you look the best in?
I shouldn't be asked this question, someone else should answer it. But I guess I look best in jeans and a shirt.

Style icon: Sanjay Dutt. He was in my school though he was about 15 or 20 years senior to me. I also like the way Rocky S designs for film heroes. He dressed Hrithik in Kabhi Kushi Kabhie Gham and Saif Ali Khan in a few films as well as Jimmy Shergill. His clothes for men in the films are very nice, trendy, classy yet funky.

Amrita Singh reacts to rumours that Khan's break-up with Italian girlfriend Rosa Catalano was because of their 'renewed' friendship

I'm Not To Blame: Amrita Singh
When a much-in-the-news couple breaks up, a lot is made of their parting and the blame game begins. Everyone, from the former partner to the family and sometimes even close friends, is to blame.

So when Saif Ali Khan and his girlfriend of two years Rosa Catalano decided to part ways, ex-wife Amrita Singh, his family and even Rosa's budding television career were put in the dock.

    'Not my business'

However, Amrita Singh refutes that she has anything to do with the break-up. What's more, she's angry about certain sections of the press alluding to a patch-up between her and her former husband. "Saif is my past. What he does is not my business or concern," is all she is willing to say.

But a source close to Saif puts things in perspective. "Amrita has not visited Saif since he returned home (he recently suffered from a heart condition), though she did go to see him at the hospital with the kids (Sara and Ebrahim).

Even though they remain in touch, stories about him and Amrita getting back together are not true. Saif is extremely focussed on his career.

He had some great releases last year and won several awards for his performance in Omkara. He's also in the process of signing new films and has just launched his production company, Illuminati Films, with producer Dinesh Vijan.

As you can see, there's really no time for a personal life. At present, he is concentrating on getting back to work."

Separate Lives: Rosa and Saif Ali Khan
    'I respect Amrita'

On Sunday night's episode of Koffee with Karan, Saif spoke at length about his marriage and split with Amrita, telling Karan Johar, "I have matured because of all kinds of non-settling thoughts, experiences, paranoias, and being judged and accepted. It has made me tougher.

I was extremely well taken care of. Now I must do things like running a home, which is something I have never done.

I am getting there. I have a tremendous amount of respect for Amrita. I'd really like us to be friends one day."

But Amrita refuses to comment on Saif's statement. She says bluntly, "I have said what I have to. Now please keep me out of this."

Meanwhile, the source says Saif and Rosa's parting was amicable. "It's pointless to blame other people for the break-up. Only they know what really went wrong.

Rosa has gone back to Switzerland, but there was no bitterness or acrimony between them. Saif and she are sensible, mature individuals and want different things in life.

They were in a relationship for over two years, so naturally, it will take some time for them to recover and get back on their feet," says the source.

It is expected that Rosa will return to India in a few weeks time, as she was getting ready to launch a glamourous career here before the unexpected break-up.

There have been talks about her anchoring a fashion-based television show for a while now, and sources say pretty much everything has been put in place.

    Meanwhile, Khan signs new film...

Saif has agreed to be part of Kunal Kohli's maiden home production

    Vickey Lalwani
    vickey.lalwani@mid-day.com

Even though Saif Ali Khan has been plagued with personal and physical problems, his film career is far from affected.

Shooting for the Yash Raj project Tara Ram Pum Pum (with Rani Mukerji) is complete, while Abbas-Mustan's Race is currently in the making.

Now, we've got news that he's just signed another film to be produced and directed by Fanaa director Kunal Kohli (he earlier directed Saif in Hum Tum, which won him the Best Actor trophy at the 2005 National awards). This is the first film Saif has signed since his split.

    Early bird

On March 8, we had reported that there was a buzz that Kunal wanted Salman Khan or Hrithik Roshan in the lead, but went to Saif when both stars declined.

However, Kunal refutes this saying, "These are preposterous rumours. It is too early to talk about my film or the cast. I have still not locked the script."

A little birdie informs us that Kunal has been in constant touch with Saif ever since he was admitted to Lilavati hospital for a heart ailment. Maybe the gesture of goodwill helped, eh?

    Shweta Tiwari in Kasauti...
In the season of generation leaps and characters being introduced to boost TRPs, Balaji Telefilms have come up with a unique idea to grab eyeballs. Kasautii Zindagii Kay will undergo a complete make-over. Reportedly, Balaji and Star will be pumping in Rs 40 lakh to give the show a new look. The lead actors Shweta Tiwari (Prerna) as well as Hiten Tejwani (the new Anurag) will also have a new look in the serial. Aarti Surendranath, who has been roped in for the new look, is already busy with this new project.

Aarti says, "It is too premature to give any information on the make-over. But yes, I have started working on Kasautii Zindagii Kay's new look and am currently trying out various looks and styles to go with the show's mood. I am watching the show regularly at the moment. Ekta has given me a complete free hand and I am talking to various designers. However, I am yet to finalise the designers for the show. I just have to finalise the look and the rest will be taken care of by Ekta and Star. As far as the sets are concerned, I will give my inputs wherever and whenever required."

    Ekta Kapoor
Speaking about designing and styling, Aarti says, "This is something I have been doing for years but I never speak about it. I have done many ad campaigns and even styled Akshaye Khanna many years back for a film Love You Hamesha. I had given him the tattered jeans look way back then. However this is something I don't like to talk about and I am not comfortable discussing it so soon. People in the trade know that I am working on the show's look and that is more than enough for me."

Ekta Kapoor says, "I asked Aarti to design the new look for the show since I know that she has that kind of vision. I was always sure that she would pick the best for Kasautii Zindagii Kay. Kasautii… today is one of our biggest shows. So we decided to have this new look to go with the generation leap. We will also be constructing a huge new set worth Rs 1.5 cr."

    Aarti
She further informs, "Yes we will be spending a lot of money on the look and the sets. However, I won't be able to give you any exact details at the moment. The three protagonists (Shweta, Hiten and Ronit Roy) will go in for a complete make-over. Star has been very forthcoming and even agreed to spend 50 per cent of the expenses on the new look after the generation leap. "

Hiten Tejwani, who has just been roped in place of Cezzane Khan says, "I am yet to start shooting and as far as the look is concerned, I am yet to have a meeting with Ekta. I am sure she already has something in mind and she will have a definite picture about how she wants my character to look like once I take over as Anurag."
