Shweta Tiwari with Ronit Roy
Last year's hottest show Nach Baliye will return in it's second season — Nach Baliye 2 – later this year.
According to an insider, Star One was having trouble finding ten new celeb pairs and was forced to consider another interesting option – having on-screen jodis compete for the coveted trophy and cash prize.
An actor on the basis of anonymity told HiTLIST, "I have heard that they are inviting on-screen jodis this year." He also trashed reports of Siddharth Basu producing the show.
Shweta and Manav
There is already a list of probable candidates drawn in the industry amongst which are names like Gauri Pradhan – Hiten Tejwani, Shweta Kawaatra – Manav Gohil, Bakhtyaar Iraani - Tanaaz Lal, Arjunn Punj – Gurdeep Kohli and Hiten Paintal and Kishwar Merchant and others.
Shweta Kawatraa is thrilled to know she's on the list, "I would love to do Nach Baliye 2.
Last year we couldn't due to date issues. Hopefully it will work this year." However the channel heads are tight-lipped. "It's too early to comment on Nach Baliye as nothing is decided as yet", said creative head for Star Shailja Kejriwal.
Rohit: It will be fun
Our source in Star One explains the new strategy, "We were having a tough time finding ten new, popular and young married couples. That's when the idea of screen couples came up. It's all being fine tuned now. Inviting on-screen couples is just one of the options that we are looking at."
Last year's contestant Rohit Roy comments on the change, "It will be interesting to see reel life couples as opposed to real life jodis.
The audiences who love Bajaj and Prerna will have fun." Most popular pairs on tele are not on talking terms with their co-stars. That could also be a hindrance.
Archana: No Magic
Archana Puran Singh has a different point of view. "I am not too sure if the reel life couples will be able to recreate magic. Even for me and Parmeet it wasn't easy to portray the reality between us on screen. I personally am excited and looking forward to the new season."
Manish Goyal, last year's winner feels, "I think it would be very difficult for a couple paired on-screen to devote time to Nach Baliye and their daily show. Not only will it strenuous to co-ordinate both the shoots, but not all onscreen couples get along well. For instance we know that Prerna and Bajaj will not be ready to be paried opposite each other. So if that's an option then it definitely will require double the efforts."
Manish's game plan
Manish's recommendations forthe second innings he says, "I conveyed some options to the channel. It would be interesting to have someone from the public join us. Last time, I had people asking me if the tears and the drama they saw on screen were real. It was hard convincing them that those were real emotions. If some one from the viewers join us, then the credibility factor will increase."
Goyal's second unique proposal is to pair one male choreographer with a female celebrity and vice versa. I think it might work."
