Nish sareen dating Vipul--coutesy tv-fan [Leena] 😊

Love calling for Nisha-Vipul
By: Tushar Joshi
March 14, 2006
------------------------------------------------------------ --------------------

I'm too busy:
Vipul Gupta

Just good friends: Nisha Sareen
Vipul Gupta, who plays Aditya in Shrishti Arya's India Calling, is dating Nisha Sareen from K Street Pali Hill.

Gupta's friend, who worked with him previously and refused to be named, said, "Vipul and Nisha have been friends even before K Street Pali Hill. Both of them stay in Bandra and have common friends. From what I know, they are not just friends, but also seem to be dating each other."

Another actor close to Nisha said, "He was there to cheer her on the debut of her play, Birdsong. They even went for coffee together, after it was over."

Laugh out loud

When contacted, Nisha, who plays Disha in Kavyanjali and Dweep in K Street Pali Hill, laughed out loud when we asked her the question. "Who told you about this? We have been good friends for a long time. I am not dating him at the moment."

But what about co-actors who have spotted them together and speculate about their friendship? "Yes, I do go out with him to parties and events, but that's because we are good friends. In fact, since he has left K Street and joined India Calling, he's become busy with his schedule. At the moment, I am excited about my play, and television is keeping me occupied as well."

Gupta admits he knew Sareen even before K Street. "Nisha is a really warm, loving friend. In fact Ashwini (Kalsekar) and Nisha are two of the closest people I know. They have always been there for me in difficult times."

He didn't deny going to Nisha's play to cheer her up. "Yes I was there, so were some other friends. Both of us have this group of non-television friends who we hang out with. That evening, we all went to watch it since Nisha's mom, Poonam aunty, is directing the play, and Vikram (Kapadia) is a friend."

Busy, busy, busy

Gupta added that this isn't the right time for him to date anyone. "I am too busy with India Calling. Also, I have my films, Anjaan and Saturday Nights. In fact, recently, I performed for the Star Parivar awards with Mansi (Parekh). We were the only jodi from Star One. For me it's a great honour to be on that platform. And the response I am getting for my role in IC is really heartening."

When asked if he misses hanging out with Nisha, he said, "I have very few friends in the industry. Most of them are from K Street, and Nisha is one of them. I am single at the moment."

Article,Kavyanjali gets a 16 year old composer--Courtesy ILuvanita [vijay bro] 😃

Sixteen-year-old Puja Dugal of Hyderabad has wowed Ekta Kapoor and will now compose music for her soaps.

Puja Dugal is like any other child-prodigy - talented, focused and ambitious. Though she has a few health issues to deal with, none of it comes in the way of her creating good music.

At 16, she has given the city another reason to be proud of. She has been selected by Ekta Kapoor to compose theme music for the latter's forthcoming soaps.

Nivedita Basu, deputy creative director to Ekta Kapoor, says, "We selected Puja to compose the theme music for Kya Hoga Nimmo Ka, Kavyanjali, and two other soaps that are yet to be named."She adds, "The selection was on the basis of a couple of compositions she had sent to us.

Puja has got a good hang of melody and understands the director's need very fast. There have been instances when she has given 20 themes in only one week."

According to Basu, Puja has an edge over music directors who have been in the industry for long because she is flexible and her compositions are fresh.

Social worker and socialite Pinky Reddy, who has sponsored the young composer, says, "Puja is one of the most promising and positive child artists I have ever come across. It's her own talent that's taking her places. I am sure she will make a mark as a music composer."

Gajender Shewalkar, Puja's tabla instructor, says, "Music comes naturally to Puja. She has an extremely good sense of rhythm and timing."

Apart from tabla, Puja also dabbles with the keyboard. Her drum instructor S Kishor Sangani says, "Puja took only three months to learn what others take two years to pick up. She is great at Walsh, Rock and Soul"

Recently, Puja got a standing ovation from an audience of nearly 200 people after her performance in the city. Her mother Neelam Dugal says, "Puja got hooked to music right from the day she played the keyboard that I had gifted her.

I had given her the instrument with the hope that it would help her exercise her fingers."The prodigy, who is reticent yet charming, believes that music is serious business.

Like any other teenager, she has a crush on Cezanne Khan (of Kasauti Zindagi Ki fame). "I love Cezanne and will tell him so when I meet him,"says Puja. The day isn't far when Puja will meet Cezanne as a crewmember.

EIJAZ ENTERS Kya Hoga Nimmo Ka as KUNAL 😊
courtesy-Angadzgirl 😊

Eijaz Khan stepped into someone else's shoes in Kavyanjali almost a year back. Now, he has started shooting for Star One's Kya Hoga Nimmo Ka.

"I wasn't really sure in the beginning if I was part of Nimmo. I only believed it the day I was asked to report on the sets." So what is Khan doing on the show? " I play Kunal Sehgal — a successful entrepreneur who lives life lavishly. He likes having pretty girls around him and doesn't shy away from flirting."

Fun at work

Apart from bagging a new show and a fresh start, Eijaz is also relaxed as he's working with good friend Sanjit Bedi. "We have lots of fun on the sets. Both of us hate Himesh Reshammiya songs, and can't stand the way he sings. Like me, Sanjit, too, is a foodie. We keep ordering food from outside, and the atmosphere is definitely more fun."

Playing a lead in Kavyanjali, one of television's most ambitious shows, took a toll on the actor. It took a while for Eijaz to adjust to the long working hours and haywire schedules.

"It has been a bumpy ride. I have had my share of accolades and brickbats. Kavyanjali has definitely been a learning experience for me, not just as an actor, but as a person as well," he says.

New look

When asked about his look on Nimmo, he said, "It's definitely different from what you have seen of me in Kavyanjali. The hairstyle and the clothes are more fun and less serious. I am really excited about my entry sequence that has been shot in a really different way. Also, you will see me wearing pyjamas and t-shirts, something younger and more contemporary."

How was it working with a newcomer like Sanjida? "She doesn't seem like a debutante at all. She's an extremely intelligent girl, and knows exactly what she's doing."

Recently there was buzz that the actor will make an exit from Kavyanjali. "Yes, I have heard about it. But I don't know, it may or may not happen. I really don't want to get involved with creative decisions. I will do exactly what's asked of me."

Added Nivedita Basu, creative head for Kavyanjali, "We haven't decided anything regarding Eijaz's track in Kavyanjali yet. Both he and Iqbal (Khan) will be sharing screen space as of now."

Sources indicate Kavyanjali is focussing on the love angle. "Yes, I think the story is now going back to where it all began, the romance between Anjali and me," said Eijaz.

Ejiaz Khan speaks about his insecurity over sharing screen space with Iqbal Khan in Kavyanjali and being the second choice in Kya Hoga Nimmo Ka

Subhash K Jha

Even if Ejiaz Khan danced with Amrita Arora in the 'Dilli ki sardi' in Zameen, it was only after he essayed the role of Kavya in Ekta Kapoor's Kavyanjali did he start getting fan mail by truck-loads. Today, Ejiaz is so busy that he does not get time to go through his mail. And with his serial Kya Hoga Nimmo Ka to be aired tomorrow, Ejiaz is only expected to get busier.

"And to think that before working with Ekta Kapoor in Kavyanjali to me I used to look down on television. Now, I look on soaps as serious commercial entertainment," says Ejiaz. "I just want to act, no matter what the medium. In my new serial for Ekta, Kya Hoga Nimmo Ka, I play a different character from Kavya. What more can an actor ask for?"

Acting is an unusual choice for Ejiaz since he comes from a family of engineers. "Television was the last thing on my mind. I grew up in a church in Chembur. I was mother-less and not on good terms with my father. So my brother and I were close to the Anglo-Indian community there. I couldn't even speak Hindi properly," he says.

So, he first modelled, and did music videos and a couple of dances for films. "I've a background in dancing. I danced with Abhishek, Aishwarya and Gautami Gadgil for 'Tumhein aaj maine jo dekha' number in Rohan Sippy's Kuch Na Kaho after some actor backed out at the last minute. Then in 'Dilli ki sardi' in Zameen some guy couldn't get his steps right. I stepped in."

All was going well till tragedy struck. "During the shoot for Sohail Khan's Maine Dil Tujhko Diya, I broke my shoulder. After surgery I fell on the same shoulder. I was bed-ridden for eight months. I thought it was the end of my career."

During the period of recuperation, Ejiaz. had to cope with long spells of isolation. "I think those months made me stronger, though the movement in my shoulder is frozen forever. For a model, dancer and actor, it was quite a setback, something I have grown accustomed to since childhood."

After touching rock bottom, things started to look up. "I was looking at a film career and met up with Ken Ghosh for Ishq Vishq. I was offered Kul Vadhu which finally became Koi Dil Mein Hai. When I was leaving the Balaji office Ekta saw me and offered me an exclusive contract. I started with Kahiin To Hoga and then did Kesar. I was soon shooting non-stop for thirty hours. But it's Kavyanjali which was a learning ground."

But was he a last-minute replacement on Kavyanjali? "Rakshak Sahni who was doing it was raw while I had already done five Balaji soaps."

Now, he will be seen sharing screen space with the Iqbal Khan on Kavyanjali. "Iqbal and I have lots of dramatic scenes together, but there is no rivalry. There is some insecurity, because one gets replaced on soaps at the snap of a finger. In fact, I stepped into Kya Hoga Nimmo Ka after Hiten Tejwani said no."

While work takes precedence in Ejiaz's life, love is on hold. "I had someone very close to me whom I never spoke about because she wasn't from the industry. There was just no time for a relationship. After a hard day's work all you think about is some sleep, not a relationship. We tried to make it work. I miss her sometimes. But all isn't lost."

'My work is my religion' courtesy--Tv-fan (Leena) 😊

Pallavi Kharade takes a walk down the memory lane with actor Ejaz Khan who narrates his tryst with small screen and personal fundas
Times News Network

IN just two years, this handsome, model turned actor has become the blue eyed boy for millions across the country. He is also said to be the hot favourite with queen bee of the small screen, Ekta Kapoor. Meet actor Ejaz Khan who has carved a niche in a very short span. You've seen him in Kuchh Na Kaho dancing with Abhishek and Aishwarya. He has also done a couple of other songs like Dilli ki sardi with Amrita Arora and a song in Main Madhuri Dixit Banna Chahti huin. But, unlike other actors, Ejaz wasn't keen on building a career in films and preferred to pursue TV. Ejaz has worked in Kesar, Kkussum, Kahin To Hoga, Koi Mere Dil Mein Hai and Kavyanjali.
THE BIG BREAK
I never had the inclination to act, in fact I was working with my father in his factory when I started getting offers for ad films. During the shooting of Kuchh Na Kaho, someone else was supposed to do the song Tumhe Aaj Maine Jo Dekha, but he backed out at the last minute and I did the song for the sake of my friend. Although, I did a couple of songs, I never tried to fetch a role. I am quite a laid-back person in that regard. But as far as my break on small screen is concerned, I had gone on sets to meet my friend Sandip Sikan, Ekta Kapoor saw me and offered me a role. In the beginning, I was a bit apprehensive but later on when I saw the set-up, I took the plunge. Since that day, I have never looked back.
TIFF WITH EKTA KAPOOR? NO WAY!
It was just a rumour that I had differences with Ekta Kapoor. To be very honest, I am the most pampered person on the sets, then why should I have tiff with her? In fact, I am acting even in her new project Kya Hoga Nimmo ka.
VARIETY IS THE SPICE OF LIFE
I have played quite a variety of roles so far. I portrayed a goody goody character in Kahin to Hoga, in Kesar, I was a street smart guy. Then I have played an out and out negative role in Koi Dil Mein Hai, while I was a distinguished lawyer in Kkusum. I have also played a casanova in Kya Hoga Nimmo ka and a mama's boy in Kavyanjali. My only regret is that I haven't done comedy yet. Right now, I am happy with the small screen. When I'll feel that I've done enough, then maybe I'll try other options like Bollywood.
MY WORK, MY RELIGION
I treat my work as my religion and I don't let anybody take it for granted. I pull up people, if they are not taking their work seriously, which is the reason why sometimes I pick up fights with my co-stars. For the same reason, people think I am arrogant, but instead of playing games I like to speak truth, however bitter it might be. I might be laid-back, but I can shoot 30 hours at a stretch and I haven't taken even a day's break in the last two years. I am not a party person .
NO RUNNING AFTER POPULARITY
If any character becomes popular, the show too gains popularity. Our job is to make the serial popular and I don't worry about my own popularity. Popularity is incidental, and I am a very grounded person and don't let things like popularity go to my head.

Sandeep Baswana
They were seen together at parties and events, but at a recent television function, Sandeep Baswana was spotted without girlfriend Ashlesha Sawant.

Even though the two never acknowledged their relationship publicly, it was a known fact that they were seeing each other.

What happened?

A friend close to Sawant revealed the reasons behind their split. "They aren't seeing each other any more. I think it's mostly because Sandeep wants to have some space of his own.

He's a very guy person, who likes to do his own things and live his life his own way. I think he was getting a bit suffocated in the relationship as she used to be around all the time. This drove him up the wall and he decided it was time to move on."

Ashlesha Sawanthwarya
When we called Ashlesha for her version of the story, she said, "I would rather not comment on this matter." Sandeep, on the other hand was honest enough to admit the increasing distance between the two.

The actor, who plays Shlok in Kavyanjali and was earlier seen as Sahil in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, said, "I don't like this girlfriend-boyfriend business.

It's true that I don't see Ashlesha that much any more. I am doing certain things in life and she's back on television. Is it a break-up? I don't know.

But we definitely don't hang around that much as before."

Insecurity struck

An actor friend of Sandeep points out that Ashlesha would often get possessive about him.

"She didn't like him talking to other females or hanging out with them. It's not like she was bad to him, but maybe insecure. I think both of them are doing well staying away from each other."

Is there bitterness over the break-up? "Of course not," says Sandeep. "We exchange notes whenever we bump into each other. I wish her well."

Big Twist-kavya to die
Courtesy--Whiterose [Uzi di] 😊

Big twist:Kavya is going to die
by Subhash K Jha

It looks like the battle of the Khans on television is about to intensify. Kavya, the character played by Ejiaz Khan will die. Another protagonist Shaurya to be played by producer Ekta Kapoor's other favourite Iqbal Khan, is to take over.

Confirming this development Ekta Kapoor says, "Yes, Ejiaz's character is going to die. In fact his death was scheduled for December 2005. But the development was deferred because Ejiaz was nominated for the Star Parivar awards in several categories. But now we're going right ahead with the death. We at Balajee consider it a big twist in plot."

Iqbal Khan who takes over, is unfazed. "Such changes are bound to happen in long-running serials. When Amit Tandon came into my serial Kaisa Pyar Pyarr Hai he became as central to the plot as my character," says Iqbal who's working for as many as 16 hours for Balajee Telefilms.

"And I don't regret it one bit. In fact I enjoy the work load. It's up to Ekta's team to decide how they want to use me. I suppose out of the 16 working hours I'll give eight hours to my older serial Kaisa Yeh Pyar Hai and eight to Kavyanjali…that's what I've worked out in my mind. The rest is up to Ekta."

Iqbal is excited about joining Kavyanjali. "My character Shaurya is very different from Angad in Kaisa Yeh Pyarr Hai. While Angad is a musician, Shaurya is sporty. He plays golf and rugby. Since I enjoy the outdoors I'm looking forward to hitting the field."

What about hitting the right buttons for a perfectly balanced life? "You mean a personal life? My girlfriend Sneha and I could tie the know any time now, as soon as my parents in Kashmir give their nod to the marriage. I'm sure this is just a formality. I'm blessed with the best parents in the world," says the obedient son.

Coming back to the impending battle of the Khans on Kavyanjali Iqbal sees no danger signs ahead.

"I don't know Eijaaz. We only spot each other when we're shooting in the same studio. We've never interacted much.. But he looks like a decent person. Inshanallah, everything will work out fine."

Kavya to die.courtesy--~damsel [Mehr di]

Ejiaz 'Kavya' Khan will no longer appear on Kavyanjali

Kavya dead!
Friday, March 24, 2006 | Television

Actor Ejiaz Khan is out of Kavyanjali

Reena Thapar Kapoor

No Kavya in Kavyanjali any more
Very soon, Anjali will be left without Kavya in Kavyanjali. Kavya
is slated to die. Rumours about the lead character of the show being
bumped off has been circulating since the time the show first went
on air. Despite the initial lukewarm response, the show managed to
take off later. And all talks about Kavya's exit died a quick death.

Now, after a year, rumours about Ejiaz Khan alias Kavya's exit from
the show have started making the rounds again. The story took a new
turn when producer Ekta Kapoor announced the arrival of Iqbal Khan
in Kavyanjali.

Now, Ekta ends the suspense. "Iqbal's entry will be special as his
character arrives after the death of Kavya," she announces. She
adds that Kavya's death was a part of the script and was supposed to
be executed some months ago. "We were supposed to shoot Kavya's
death last month but couldn't."

Rumour has it that it was Star Plus who pressurised the producer to
postpone Kavya's death track as they wanted to nominate Kavya-
Anjali for their favourite jodi category.

But now death is definitely on the cards. "We have to take the story
forward and, as planned, Kavya will be bumped off by his step-mother
Nitya Nanda," says Ekta.

Was that why Hiten Tejwani was replaced by Ejiaz Khan in Kya Hoga
Nimmo Ka? "Yes, that was the plan," she replies. "Hiten is doing
two shows for Balaji, which that takes up most of his time. I knew
that Ejiaz's track in Kavyanjali would end sooner or later and I
didn't want to let go of a good actor like him. So, I pulled took
him on in Nimmo..."

Incidentally, even as the K-team is gearing up to shoot Ejiaz's
death track, the man is still unaware of the development.

"Really? No one has said anything to me about my death as yet," he
says when asked about his exit from the show. "I have been hearing
about Kavya's death for some time but neither Ekta nor anybody else
at Balaji have told me anything about it as yet."

Kavya, Anjali's love story

Ejiaz Khan is smitten by Anita Hassanandani 😉

Reena Thapar Kapoor

* But is Ejiaz Khan's declaration a PR gimmick or just a ploy to keep skeletons in the closet?

Balaji's love-birds Kavya and Anjali, of Kavyanjali, have set the small screen on fire with their sizzling chemistry on screen. Just a few days before parting ways with the show and his co-star Anita Hassanandani, actor Ejiaz Khan admits to having a soft corner for his on-screen lover.

So, is Ejiaz smitten by the petite Anita? The actor blushes profusely. "We're very close," he says. "In fact, she is the stabilising factor in my life. I don't think anyone knows me better than Anita."

Ejiaz says that it was after working with Anita and spending quality time with her on the sets that he realised his true feelings for her. "There is no romance between us, at least not yet, but people refuse to believe that," he says. "I don't blame them because the kind of chemistry we share says it all. Not many actors on TV have succeeded in achieving the kind of comfort level with their co-stars, as Anita and I have."

Khan confesses that he hasn't felt affection as strongly for anyone else in his life. "I'm told that we look good together. People actually said that backstage, at the Star Parivaar awards," he says.

What does his family think of their friendship? "I don't discuss work with my family but my dad agrees that Anita and I look terrific together," he smiles. Ejiaz is obviously in love and, what's more, his family too seems to have given him the green signal.

So, what's stopping him from taking the plunge? "I'm waiting for Anita to say 'yes' to me," he says. While Ejiaz is open about his feelings for her, Anita has always maintained that they are just 'good friends'. In an earlier interview to Mumbai Mirror, she had said, ""Ours is a platonic friendship, there is no romance." Currently, she is away shooting for her regional film down South and was not available for comment on Ejiaz's surprise confession.
