Were you really unaware of your 'death' in Kavyanjali?

Yes, that's the truth. We discussed a few tracks in the plot, and I was waiting for Balaji to let me know what they finally decided.

Does your departure from Kavyanjali sadden you?

Oh yes! This is the longest that I've been in any serial. I entered the show as a replacement. And then went on to be accepted and loved as Kavya. Now I'm known more as Kavya than Ejiaz. However, I'm not scared of moving on to Kya Hoga Nimmo Ka. Every serial has been a challenge for me. And I love it. By the way Anita and I have won the 'best jodi' award at the Star Parivaar awards.

According to rumours, you and Amrita Singh form the real jodi of Kavyanjali.

I heard those rumours too! Just because we shared a great rapport both on and off screen, everyone jumped to conclusions. We were just two intelligent, educated people bonding on the sets. I think our compatibility added to our scenes together and took the soap to another level. She's such a livewire on the sets, I'll really miss working with her .I've learnt so much from her.

The buzz was that Amrita Singh had moved from one Khan to another.

Ha ha. There's nothing like that.

What about your relationship with Karishma Tanna?

There's nothing to be said about her. I was close to her during the shooting of Koi Dil Mein Hai. Since we were the only two unmarried actors on the sets, the unit linked us together There was nothing between us.

Now you have to act with Iqbal Khan?

Yes, before I get bumped off in Kavyanjali , we'll get to share some screen space. I'm looking forward to that.

Have you been a victim of ego clashes before?

Ego clashes are almost inevitable on the sets in this industry. If you're working with stars day in and day out, it's bound to happen. I often lose my cool on the sets when I see a co-star constantly on the phone, not concentrating on his lines. I've had fights with co-stars on the sets of Kavyanjali too.

Given a choice, would you've preferred to go on in Kavyanjali, instead of shifting to Kya Hoga Nimmo Ka?

The story had to move forward. After Kavya got to know the truth about his mother it would have been very difficult for him to remain the way he was. My character had to die. It's a logical step forward. I'm actually enjoying the shift because Nimmo… gives me a chance to do something lighter, and more fun. I was too serious in Kavyanjali . In Nimmo I'm not the central character. There's a fresh set of faces with me . And I'm having a ball.

Eijaz Khan aka Kavya of Balaji Telefilms' Kkavyanjali reportedly said in an interview that he has a soft corner for his co-star Anita Hasanandani aka Anjali. He also didn't rule out a possible romance and a permanent relationship provided his ladylove said 'yes'. This is nothing new as far as romantic link-ups are concerned in telly-land. While some may call it an occupational hazard, Sandiip Sikand, creative director of Balaji Telefilms says, "When two lead stars are spending hours together on the sets, good times or bad, good moods or bad, they tend to share it with the closest person around them. So a relationship then is not completely ruled out between two people." Having said that, in today's times of creating publicity gimmicks Khan's statement could also have come in the wake of the news of his character being bumped off the show.

So though we don't how true are Khan's feelings for his co-star, given the chemistry they share on-screen (they recently won the Star Parivaar Best Jodi award), it couldn't be false either. Here we bring you some other telly couples who have been either romantically linked or who have taken their on screen relationship one step further and also the odd case when the relationship has gone sour. Aamna Sharif and Rajeev Khandelwal On-screen pair: As Kashish and Sujal they had the TRPs going with their onscreen sparks in Kahin To Hoga till Rajeev aka Sujal bid good bye to the show.

Media murmur: Has been very strong and though they still like to maintain a "We are friends" stance, the occasional time they are spotted together at a party or dancing for an awards ceremony gets the tongues wagging again.

Current status: They are slated to do a TV show together. Gauri Pradhan and Hiten Tejwani On-screen pair: They first acted in a soap commercial followed by a couple always at loggerheads in one of the Balaji soaps followed by their tearjerker love story in Kyunki…Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi.

Chemistry quotient: 10 on 10 as they are counted among one of TV's best looking couples Media murmur: Though there was always a hint of a relationship between the two, they managed to keep it under wraps for quite some time till they officially tied the knot.

Current status: They tied the knot and complete two years of matrimony next month. Shweta Tiwari and Cezanne Khan On-screen pair: As Prerna and Anurag in Kasauti Zindagi Kay, theirs was the most poignant love sto ries till of course bizarre plot twists and turns ruined at all.

Chemistry quotient: A perfect 10 on-screen.

Media murmur: They loved, they lost, they hated each other – and the media lapped up every crack that developed in their relationship. ' Current status: While Shweta seems to be blissfully married with a daughter, Cezanne is dating another co-star. On screen, they continue to be as professional as ever.

The date has been set. Kavya of Kavyanjali will die on April 14.

Eijaz Khan doesn't know it yet, but his character will be out of the show on April 14.

Balaji head honcho Ekta Kapoor confirms the news. She says: "Yes, I think Kavya will die on April 14. It happens to be Anita's (who plays Anjali in the serial) birthday… just an uncanny coincidence, I guess."

Will the death will have the same effect as Mihir's death in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi? "It is a very dramatic death for Kavya and to imagine Kavyanjali without Kavya is tough. But we've a bl***y good story ahead!" she replies

True to the tradition at Balaji Telefilms of not informing an actor about his or her character's death until the eleventh hour, actor Eijaz Khan has still not been told when his character Kavya will kick the bucket in Kavyanjali.

Khan for his part though seems unperturbed. He says: "Not that I'm thinking about it. I'm just enjoying the shoot while it lasts. I remember my disappointment when I was out of Kahiin To Hoga and the other serials I did for Balaji. It's best not to think about it."

However he also accepts that after being a part of a team for such a long time, one does tend to bond with the unit members. "I'm already missing the Kavya team. But then change is inevitable, especially in a long-running soap," he confesses.

While much has been said about Eijaz Khan having a soft corner for his Star Plus' Kkavyanjali co-star Anita Hasnandani, we were a bit surprised when he was singing a different tune when we spoke to him recently. Eijaz, contrary to the grapevine, prefers going solo right now. ''I think a relationship takes a lot of time, effort and commitment. And at this point of time, I am not interested,'' he says. It is, however, his career that is getting all his attention at this point of time, especially after his new show Kya Hoga Nimmo Ka on Star One. So, all you damsels in distress, this prince charming ain't coming to rescue you yet!
