Wanted to pen down some random thoughts on the lead pair. What struck me about this show? I think its essentially the freshness brought in by the lead pair which has made all the difference.
Coming to the first USP for the show, I think it was the title track- melodious, warm, white and pure, but ooooozing sensuality, the pose at the end of the track, with both of them lying facing each other, eyes closed, is a runaway hit ( The pose and the track had made me PM Skep and Dawn to get on this show prompto). They look so peaceful, and COMPLETE with each other. Nahi?
Coming to Arjun now...
He is not the first rich, arrogant, snooty, flawed hero that Ekta has brought to us. But he is an instant rage, Why?
Let me count the lows first, he is not a very great actor, to begin with. But he compensates for it with his sincerity. You know that he WANTS to be Arjun Punj, totally. And he IS being Arjun Punj. Full points to Karan for that one. And as Nups has observed, he is getting better with each episode, I fully agree with her. Any seasoned Ekta actor could have done a wonderful job, but Karan has brought the freshness, sincerity and novelty which was so required.
That was Karan. And let me shamelessly add that he is absolutely stunning to look at. I am totally sold on his extremely fair, spotless complexion (never liked fair guys, he is the sole exception) . And I absolutely LOVE that black thread he ties on his wrist, I think its the right wrist, correct Nups? 😉
Plus his dressing style, is to kill for. ALL those silk shirts, way to go Ekta, you sure have spent the right money on the right person. 😃
Let me define Arjun- A loner, who hates women, who has been fighting his demons all alone, for far too long. His only confidante being his dad. He is close to Salil too, but Arjun never confides in Salil, its vice versa all the time. But aleast Salil knows that Arjun cares, behind all that hauteur.
I remember the episode when his dad had employed Arohi as Arjun's associate, Arjun came back home in the foulest of moods, refused food and threw himself on the bed in a state of despair and anger, my heart went out to him. His dad came back home, and had to pacify him like a small child. I had fallen in love with Arjun in that very episode.
THAT's the vulnerability which makes him so endearing to us. If he is perenially foul mouthed, we know he is hurting inside himself. BUT, and its a very big BUT, notice Arjun Punj when he has that softness on his face, when he is thinking a warm thought, or when he is genuinely smiling, or peacefully sleeping. Absolutely angelic, like a child.
Its the pain, this despair, this frustration, and this feeling of being alone all the time, which makes him so vulnerable. He is alone, because he doesnt want to be hurt again. So whether its choice, or his fate, I wont say. His foul mouthedness is a mask to his loneliness and you can clearly see how hard he tries to keep emotions and people away from himself.
Enter Arohi, and everything which is inside him comes bubbling out like hot lava. Why? More on that in my next chapter. 😉
