CHAPTER-6HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!!
As Arjun made his way into the centre of the crowd, he could feel all eyes on him. Sometimes lack of attention can indeed make you a fool in front of everyone. He was not used to such attention, and he could feel his feet dug into the ground.
He stood next to Arohi and looked sideways at her. She was looking at Romit, who was announcing on the mike.
Romit: The most lovely couple in the world..bro and bhabhi. Happy anniversary to you both.. May you guys live together forever and ever. (as the applause ended) And now.. The cake please!!
A waiter in black and white uniform came into the centre of the crowd pushing a trolley loaded with a three-storeyed cake, covered in white cream and decorated with little chocolate roses. Over the top, two jointed heart candles were dug into the soft creamy layer. Just beneath the hearts, words 'Arjun and Arohi' were written in chocolate.
Arjun and Arohi moved forward to cut the cake. Together they dug the knife into cake, the crowd started to applaud again. They both took a piece of cake and while Arjun turned to feed Arohi from his hands, she turned to Dadi instead. She then fed the rest of the family, excluding him. He was surprised. As his hand dangled with the uneaten piece of cake, Romit fed himself from his hands. Was she ignoring him? Was she angry or was he just over-reacting?
The crowd came forward with their gifts to give them to Arjuhi.
Dadi: oye Arjun, kya laya hai tu apni wotti de naal?
Arjun: wo..uh(coming out of his pondering)
Arohi thought to herself: as if..i m sure ye pagal wouldn't have bought any gift as he didn't even remember.
dadi: ab ye na bol ki tu Arohi ke liye koi gift nahi laya. Chal jaldi gift nikal warna..(she left the sentence unfinished in a threatening tone)
Arohi(thinking): Good, he deserves it. Go dadi!
Arjun: arre dadi..relax!
He took out something, much to Arohi's surprise, from a box kept in his pocket. He bend low so that his entire weight was supported by his right leg.
Taking Arohi's right hand into his', he looked into her eyes and said: Even though our lives have become one after marriage, i want to give you a proof that no matter what, i'll be by ur side. No matter how many years pass by, how many troubles come our way, how many differences try to come between us, my love for u will never die.We'll stay this way forever, completing each other, standing as a support for each other, always for each other. This ring is for the most beautiful girl in the world, to remind her that whenever she needs her Prince Charming, he'll be there with her and take away all her pains to make her smile. (as he slipped the ring onto her finger) Happy anniversary dear.
Saying this he kissed her ring finger. The crowd started applauding. As he looked into those warm eyes, he noticed tears in them. He stood up, removed unshed tears from her eyes, and took her in his arms.
For him, the world had stopped then and there. He took no notice of how everyone's eyes were upon them. He didn't care as long as she was wrapped around him tightly in his arms.
He kissed her silky hair lightly and muttered into them: i love you soo much.
Arohi lost in the surprise that he'd just given her: i love you too arjun.
She looked down at the diamond-studded platinum ring shining on the ring finger of her right hand, with tears still glittering in her eyes. It had two diamond-studded A's on the centre with a band of platinum encrusted with diamond. She had never seen such a beautiful ring in her life. But more than the rings, what mattered to her was those words arjun had said to her while giving her the ring, the emotions behind the ring, and the promise of him being with her whenever she needed him, whenever she missed him. Earlier she'd thought that she won't talk to arjun no matter how much he tried to persuade her..atleast for a day. If not a day, then surely an hour. But she'd make him realise his mistake of completely forgetting about their anniversary. But now, engulfed in a tight hug from him, wearing the ring that he'd just given her, and hearing those words promising of togetherness for lifetime, she couldn't stop herself from not being angry at him. Truth was that whatever might be the reason, she could never stay angry with her Monster.
The crowd started applauding harder and hearing the sound of applause surrounding them, they came back to their present and reluctantly pulled apart.

thats it for today.. sorry for updating soo late. i got busy wid my college n studies n kinda lost interest in writing.. but seeing that some of u really cared to bug me to update, even though i m an amateur, i thought to keep writing for u guyss...
