CHAPTER-5
PARTY TIME..!!
The door screeched a little as Arjun closed it. He was feeling impatient as he made way to the hallway. He was in his own spur of thoughts and did not pay attention to the faint murmuring that was coming from the hall.
When Arjun had arrived home, he had found his way blocked by dadi. On asking, dadi had told him to go inside the room, from which he had just come out, and to change the suit he was then wearing with the one kept inside. When arjun had questioned her, she had refused to give the reason. Thus, irritated, Arjun had refused her. So she had forcefully sent him to the room by spilling some water on his clothes.
Not that he disliked the suit he was wearing now. As a matter-of-fact, he thought this black one looked perfect on him. The black velvet coat, the glossy black shirt and the black tight-fitting jeans- all gelled perfectly with his persona. But not getting answers and people acting weirdly bugged him off.
He had reached the hall now. The hall was unusually quiet and dark. As he took a few steps forward, a bright light came right over him. He was in spotlight! He looked around, trying to figure out its source or whether he was alone in the hall, but all in vain as the light was too blinding for him to see. As he was about to call out, a second spotlight went over the stairs. His eyes followed the direction of the spotlight and looked at a sight that made his jaw drop.
A beautiful girl, perhaps the most beautiful in the world, was walking down the staircase. She looked so angelic and fairy-like that Arjun lost himself in her.
Her hair were tied in a bun, with some stray locks of curls dangling on her shoulders. She wore long diamond-studded platinum earrings - swaying to-and-fro with the every step she took - tickling her neck, a small but beautiful necklace to match her earrings, and a platinum bracelet of dark-blue coloured beads. She had worn a deep- necked dark-blue coloured gown that left her arms fully exposed and covered only till her knees, with silver sequencing here and there to compliment her jewellery and her hairstyle.
Suddenly, she looked towards him and his heart skipped a beat. He looked at her face more closely.
Her face was the most astonishing feature of her. He was dead sure he hadn't seen a more innocent, more lively, and a more beautiful face than hers in his whole lifetime. Her eyes wore only a
dash of make-up and were full of life as they bore into his. Her lips wore a light red colour. They looked ravishing as a genuine soft smile played on them. Even though she wore less to no make-up, he felt his heart-beat race higher with every step she took downstairs, for he felt as if a geek Goddess was descending right from the Heavens only for him.
As she finished the length of the staircase, the spotlights went off only to be replaced by a brighter light that illuminated the whole hall and an applause that brought Arjun back to his senses.
He looked around wildly and found himself amidst a crowd of people all applauding and smiling to him. He looked back to steal another glance at the beautiful girl, Arohi and found instead a group of people surrounding her. He grew restless and started walking around so as to get a good look at her. People kept coming to wish him, but he merely smiled at them or shook their hands and moved on, not paying attention to whatever they were saying.
Somebody was announcing something on the mike, but he just couldn't pay attention. The crowd around Arohi shifted ('Thank God', he said in his mind.) to hear whatever was being announced on mike. Arohi had turned her back to Arjun and what he saw made his mouth hang open and made him feel completely dry in his mouth.
She had worn a backless gown. God, he had never seen her like this. The only thing he wanted to do was to run to her, to stop her in her tracks to whereever she was heading to, to pull her in his arms and to stay that way forever.. With no spaces between them.. With noone there..just him and her..
As he moved forward, he bumped into someone. That someone came upto his stomach and as Arjun looked down he saw Raj, thrown off with the force of collision with Arjun, struggling to get up.
Arjun: Oh Raj.(pulling him up) When did u and Rashi came back from the holiday?
Raj: wo sab chodo Dad. Aap yaha kya kar rahe ho? Aapko chachu stage pe bula rahe hai.. Aur Dad apna muh toh band karo..warna macchar ghus jaenge.
Arjun had not realised that his mouth was hanging open, so he quickly closed it. He looked around and saw that all eyes were on him. He looked in front of him and saw that Arohi had walked over to the centre of the hall, standing next to her was their family and friends; all looking at him. The whole crowd was circled around them.
Arjun(feeling heat build up in his cheeks): ha.. Wahi to jaa raha tha.
Arjun walked over to where Arohi was standing.
