Chapter: Tujhko Jo paaya
'Dance?', he asked her putting his hand in front of her.
'You bet', she beamed at him and placed her hand in his.
He led them to the dance floor, the spotlight following them. The crowd in shadows made way for them.
Arjun took both her hands in his and looking into the smiling eyes of Arohi, called out: Music!
Mere Bina Main Rehne Laga Hun
Teri Hawaon Me Behne Laga Hun
Jaane Main Kaise Tera Hua Hu
Mujhe To Lagta Jai Main Shayad
Tere Dil Ki Dua Hu
Haan Tujhko Jo Paaya..
(as he lifted her in his arms so that her waist was at level with his chest and she spread her hands wide into the air)
Ahan To Jeena Aaya
(he swirled on his feet carrying her weight, their eyes locked)
Ab Ye Lamha Theher Jaye Tham Jaye Bas Jaye
Hum Dono Ke Darmiyaan
Haan Tujhko Jo Paaya..
Ahan To Jeena Aaya
(as he gently put her on feet)
Ab Ye Lamha Theher Jaye
Tham Jaye Bas Jaye
Hum Dono Ke Darmiyaan
they looked into each other's eyes. Arohi turned away from the intensity of love burning in his eyes.
Pehle se zyada Main jee raha hu
(as he traced his hand along hers to her heart, making her shiver)
Jabse main tere dil se juda hu
Rahon pe teri main to chala hu
(she tried to walk away from his touch but Arjun stopped her by grasping her hand)
Tu meri manzil hai
Tere kadmon pe bas rukne laga hu
(she turned around to find Arjun on his knees, his hand holding her left hand)
Tujhko jo paaya ahan
(he kissed her palm and she smiled at his gesture)
To jeena aaya
(he got up slowly, not once taking his eyes off her face)
Ab ye lamha theher jaye tham jaye bas jaye
hum Dono ke darmiyaan
He put his one hand on her waist and with other one he grasped her right hand, as the music changed to a more romantic one.
An hour later, Arjun was sitting in his car waiting for Arohi. It had been 15 minutes now; he was growing restless.
He had left a note with Romit to give to Arohi. He had also messaged her on her mobile, just in case.
He was about to call Arohi when he saw her through the car's window, heading towards him.
He turned to fasten his seat-belt and looked at her eyes as she sat next to him. Her eyes were shimmering with curiousity and happiness.
Teri nazar me nayi si adaa hai
(his hands stopped mid-way)
Naya sa nasha bhi ghula hai
he watched her touch the back of her hair and a flash of discomfort passed through her eyes.
Kayi dino se bandha tha baadal jo
(his hand automatically reached her hair and he took out the clip that held her hair to let them fall loose)
Tere hi baalon me khula hai
'Arjun.. It took me ages to tie them up', she said
Arjun looked away, now that the trance had broken.
'They look better this way',he said matter-of-factly. 'and besides u weren't feeling comfortable, were you?'
'I..but..'
'shush yaar..kitna bolti ho! You look gorgeous when your hair falls over your face'
'Wow! Compliment! Whats up today? You're saying and doing romantic stuff' She touched his forehead. 'no fever. Are u sure u didnt hurt ur head?' She started giggling on her own joke.
'Shut up! Now u are the one spoiling our romantic moments.' Arjun said, starting the car.
'Ok, carry on', she said raising her hands as if surrendering. 'I like this "romantic hubby" side of u'(giving a wink to Arjun) 'By the way where are we going?'
'You'll come to know'
'What about party? Wont everyone notice that we're missing?'
'I have told dadi n rashi'
'Oh..so dat means, when i caled today, you were lying na?'
'No'
'Yeah..as if i'd believe that'
'If u know then why are you asking?'
'Monster', she said in a low voice. 'Tell me na where are we going'
'That i can't. Cant you wait?'
'I can't too. Ok i'll wait patiently but it better be nice or i'm not going to leave you'
'Ya, i know that'(chuckling)
After sometime, he pulled the car to a halt. Arohi looked around expectantly, but found only blackness engulfing them.
'Huh? This is your surprise?'
'you are so impatient. Get out of the car first'
A few minutes later, they stood facing a door.
'Open it', he told her.
Arohi pushed the door and expected to find some beautiful sight to welcome her bt was disappointed with more darkness
'there's nothing here',she said turning back to Arjun but didnt see him.
'Arjun? Where are you?'
She searched for him wherever her eyes could see.
'arjun? Is this all a prank? Are you trying to scare me? I swear i'm gonna kill you!', she said angrily
Just then she heard a noise from d interior of the room and she turned to look at its source
A lighted candle filled her vision, illuminating a table beneath.
She walked towards it to pick it up and found a rose kept besides it. She picked up the rand saw a note kept under it. She unfolded it:
'Dear Princess,
You are not the air that I breathe,
you are the sweet scent that drifts upon it
You are not the sounds that I hear,
you are the music of my life
You are not the food that I need,
you are the nourishment of my soul
You are not my will to survive,
you are my reason for living
It is with you that I experience
the wonders of the world
It is with you that I triumph
over the challenges in my path
It is your partnership that will lead me
to the fulfillment of my dreams
It is your friendship
that guides me as I grow and learn
It is your patience and wisdom
that calms my restless nature
It is through you
that I know my true self
I do not take you for granted,
I cherish you
I do not need you
I choose you
I choose you today
in witness of all the people who love us
I choose you tomorrow
in the privacy of our hearts
I choose you in strength and weakness
I choose you in health and sickness
I choose you in joy and sorrow
I will choose you, over all others,
every day for all the days of my life.
Love,
Your Monster..'
By the end of it, she had tears in her eyes.
She lifted her head and saw Arjun standing in front of her. She ran clutching the note and rose in her hand towards him and covered the distance between them.
'You wrote it for me?', she whispered, unable to speak
He nodded a yes and was about to say something,
but his words never got out of his mouth. Before he knew anything, she was hugging him tightly. He responded by hugging her back.
Teri hadon me meri basar hai
Ab tujhe bhi Janu kidhar hai
Jahan rahe tu main wo jahan hu
Jise jiye tu main wo sama hun
Teri waja se naya naya hu
Pehle kaha na maine ab ye tumse kehne laga Hun..
Tujhko jo paaya ahan
To jeena aaya
Ab ye lamha theher jaye
tham jaye bas jaye
hum Dono ke darmiyaaan.
After what seemed like ages, they parted off. Arjun cupped her face in both his hands to see her tear-filled eyes. He kissed her eyes, as she let go of them. He wiped her face and kissed her forehead.
'Arohi, why are you crying? Was it bad?'
'no'
'Then what happened?'
Even she didnt know why she was crying. Maybe the meaning behind the lines written by him had touched her heart and filled it up with emotions that were now flowing through her eyes or maybe it was the fact that it was written by him, her Monster, who never even believed in love until 2 yrs back, now stood writing stanzas for her that were full of love and promises.
'I just can't believe you wrote it'
'even i can't. Maybe thats why they say one become a poet in love. I mean, who would've thought the great don Arjun Singhania would become totally useless in love.'
She hit him on his arms and laughed a little. She pulled him into a hug.
'Wait Arohi.. There's more.'
