The next morning Meher woke up to find herself in preet's arms. She smilled, looking at his peaceful face and caressed his cheek. She then noticed the time on the wall, and yelped! It was 8 and heer di must have been getting ready for her interview. She got up and went looking for her phone, she was careful not to wake preet up. She finally, found her phone and saw that she had 5 missed calls from heer. She went inside the bathroom and called heer, while trying to think of an excuse.

Heer picked up the phone and started yelling before Meher could say anything.

"Meher, where are you? you were gone when i woke up? Did you get my medicines? Have you seen my red sari- I was going to wear it to my interview? Why did you leave so early in the morning?"

Heer bombarded her with questions, but Meher was thankful she had not realized that Meher had been missing the whole night. Meher responded calmly to each of Heer's questions, " Didi, the shop was out of your medicines so I decided i would go early this morning and get them but there is so much traffic, i don't think I will be home before you leave. And I think you left your sari at home......."Meher's voice trailed off as she realized what she had just said.

Heer's eyes watered as she listened to Meher's comment about the sari.

"I am sorry di, I didn't mean...." meher said

"Its okay Meher, besides i never liked that sari anyway." Heer said trying to lighten the mood.

"okay,meher i am leaving now, wish me good luck." heer said.

"Didi, good luck and be careful and take care of my neice or nephew. i will be home soon." Meher said

As meher ended the call. she closed her eyes and held the phone to her heart. She let tears fall as she thought of the pain her sister was enduring. She suddenly felt preets warm body encase her in a hug from behind. he kissed her shoulder and asked her if she was talking to heer di.

meher nodded silently. Preet turned her towards him and said, "meher, I have a plan to get them back together. Do you trust me?" Preet said eagerly to meher.

Meher looked up into his eyes brimming with honesty and hope. She nodded again and hugged him. He kissed her head rubbed her back.

They finally drew apart and meher said, "Okay i have to go for real this time."

Preet sighed, "fine but keep your phone on you, I want to discuss my plan later."

Meher said "Okay I will." She started to grab her shoes and purse when preet stopped her. He handed her a thick wad of cash.

Meher looked at him disbelievingly, "um excuse me? What is this for?"

Preet realized what meher was thinking and decided to tease her. "its for last night, I had a wonderful time" he said trying to keep a straight face.

Meher narrowed her eyes at him and said, "what?! Who the hell do you think I am?"

Preet forcefully grabbed her arm and pulled her in and said while smiling, "you are so cute when you are angry. I was just kidding. I just wanted to give you the money for you and heer bhabhi's living expenses, and call me if you need more especially if it is for heer bhabhi's medical expenses."

"Preet, I can't take this from you." Meher said a little uncomfortable now.

"Why not? I am your husband and I did all this before you left so why not now?"

"Preet, things are different now and besides where would I tell heer di I got the money from?"

"Your right meher , things have changed- you are truly my wife now and where exactly were you planning on getting money from?"

"well, heer di and I were both going to get jobs." Meher said timidly.

Preet chuckled. "You are joking right? Heer di is pregnant and you- working?"

Meher was angry now- "I can work! I have a degree, you know!"

Preet tried suppressing his laughter and said okay I have an idea- "why don't you take this money from me and tell heer di you got a well paying job and she doesn't need to work." That way she can be less burdened during her pregnancy and neither of you have to work. Besides, you can spend time with me while you are "working." Brilliant right? I know.

Meher rolled her eyes and said, "So you are going to pay your wife to spend time with you? Isn't that a little sad?"

"Rough times. A guy has got to do what he has to do for love." Preet said in a mock depressed tone.

Meher smiled as she marvelled at how sweet preet was. "Fine sounds good to me, but how will you get out of working? i can't come to your office or bauji or jiju will see us."

"You leave that up to me." Preet said with a devious smile on his face.
