Post 1 for tragic, Post 2 for fluff.
If you're crazy and read both 😳 tell me which one went with the song better :P
Read at your own risk 😛
Tose Naina Laage
She got seated in the back with her sister as he gently closed the door and took the driver's seat.
Clutching her duppata, she watched as he buckled his seat belt and adjusted the rear view mirror. Their eyes met.
tose naina laage… tose naina laage…
Being the first to look away, Heer felt a blush creeping up in her cheeks at his knowing smirk.
To distract herself, she started chit chat with her sister Meher, her mind sometimes wandering off to the hunk in the front.
tose naina laage…piya saaware
nahin bas me ab yeh jiya saware
She chuckled at something Meher said, a happy glow illuminating her face.
Stopping at a traffic light, he sighed in content as he looked at her reflection in the mirror. She was dressed in an ethereal white churidaar, looking simply stunning as she smiled at her sister.
tose naina laage piya saaware
nahin bas me ab yeh jiya saaware
Conscious of the eyes on her, she couldn't help staring back; taking in his gorgeous eyes, that tantalizing smile…yet he seemed lost in his own world…with that dreamy, faraway look on his face.
mohabbat to ek javeda zindagi hai
mohabbat to ek javeda zindagi hai
Preet nudged his brother, shifting his attention to the now green traffic light.
The car lurched forward, a goofy grin playing on Prem's face as he came out of his trance, running a hand through his hair.
tose naina laage mili roshni
tose man jo laaga mili zindagi
Preet and Meher were having an animated discussion now, a silly male vs female debate in which they were trying to involve their oblivious siblings.
As they arrived at their destination, Preet skipped out of his seat, running off as soon as the car was parked. Meher's mouth opened and then closed off again, staring at the retreating figure.
She watched Prem come around and open her car door, and she happily jumped out, thanking him as she ran off behind his brother.
Heer smiled and reached for the lock on her door, but Prem was quick to get to her side and open the door for her.
She coyly grinned, avoiding his look on her as she descended from the car.
mohobbat to ek javeda zindagi hai
mohobbat to ek javeda zindagi hai
He closed the door and locked the car while she slowly walked forward, her heart thudding as she felt him approach her.
Prem watched her close her eyes as he gently took her hand in his, enjoying her reaction from his touch. Her face seemed to be glowing even more now, for she felt complete, right there, next to him. This is where she wished to belong forever.
mohabbat ki hai daastaan zindagi
mohabbat na ho toh kaha zindagi
Before they walked into the house, Prem gently turned her around, locking his eyes with hers.
"I love you" he whispered, his thumb gently creating imaginary circles on her hand, which he still held.
mohabbat ki hai daastaan zindagi
mohabbat na ho toh kaha zindagi
She looked into his eyes again; observing the twinkle in it, the love, the liveliness…an image forced itself into her memories.
"I know this was a setup from the beginning and that our parents had already made their decision on getting us married" he began. "But we both know this marriage isn't arranged anymore…"
He was suddenly on his knees, making her melt with his loving gaze…
"I don't know when I fell in love with you…maybe it was when I first saw you, the nervous look on your face…the simplicity in your smile…maybe it was when I saw you playing on the swings…the innocence in your eyes…maybe it was when you whispered my name for the first time, striking a chord in my heart…
"Whenever it was, I was completely smitten with you…and…" he sighed, her smile lighting up his world all over again, that simple gesture of her placing her hand on his cheek making him fall in love with her all over again.
mohabbat to ek javeda zindagi hai
mohabbat to ek javeda zindagi hai
"Today is our engagement…this ring is going to connect us for the world…but our hearts are already connected…and today, while I place this ring on your finger, I want you to know, I want nothing more than your love…that I want you next to me, every breath I take, every life I live…that I want to spend the rest of this life with you…that I want a family with you…that I want us to create memories that we can look back at when we're old and useless…and that I want to take my final breath, spend the final moments of my life in your arms…my love for you will never die." His hand was now extended forward. "Promise to be by my side forever?"
Smiling through tears, she placed her hand in his, her eyes vowing to love him forever. "I love you too Prem…and I promise to be with you forever…"
tose naina laage…
A few hours later, Prem stood next to the dance floor, watching his mom peck his fianc on her cheek, watching that blush creep up on her cheeks again.
He reflected on his old lifestyle…how he hadn't cared about anyone and anything…how those innocent eyes had enraptured him at once, how he'd fallen head over heels…and now, how he felt like the luckiest man on the planet.
Unable to steal his eyes away from the beauty that, despite standing a few feet away, still managed to make his heart flip with her adoring glance…he took her hand in his, carelessly pulling her onto the dance floor, placing his hand on her waist as he pulled her in for a dance, instilling another magical moment into their memories….
Shama ko pigalne ka, armaan kyun hai
Patange ko jal ne ka, armaan kyun hai
The memory faded as she returned to the present.
He'd now been injured, lying on the ground after being hit by a car, and his pulse was barely present.
She cradled his face in her arms, screaming for an ambulance. He looked up at her, whispering her name.
Her heart cried out as he tried to keep his eyes open, breathing heavily. "I love you"
He didn't have to tell her he loved her then, she knew. She saw it in her eyes, and he saw the feelings reciprocated in hers.
All her feelings poured out wordlessly, as his love displayed through his intense gaze.
Issi shaukt ka imtehaan zindagi hai,
Issi shaukt ka imtehaan zindagi hai,
They were at the hospital, and he was supposed to have gained consciousness now, or nothing could be done.
She hadn't had the heart to inform his family…and so there she stood, holding his hand, his slow yet present breathing being the only thing that kept her strong.
The beeping machine indicated that his pulse was low again, his heartbeat almost dead.
Mohobbat jisse bakshdey zindagani…
Nahin maut par khatam uski kahani…
Her eyes fell to the machine, then to the still expression on his face. "I love you too" she whispered. "Don't leave me. Please. I love you too"
A silent tear made its way down her cheek, subtly dropping onto his hand.
kaise jiya jaaye
kaise jiya jaaye ishq bin
His hand twitched. She glanced up, watching his expression. His chest rose up, and then went down…he was taking slow breaths.
A few minutes later, his eyes gently opened, meeting hers.
kaise jiya jaaye
kaise jiya jaaye ishq bin
He blinked, and slowly she felt his weak grip on her hand, telling her he was there.
Tose naina laage mili roshani
Tose man jo laaga mili zindagi
She kissed his hand, the tears unstoppable. He wanted to hold her close, to tell her everything will be all right…to wipe away her tears…but he didn't have the strength.
He tried to speak, but his speech slurred. She watched him wince as he moved his arm, slowly pulling off the oxygen mask.
"What are you doing?" she whispered.
"I love you Heer" The words came out slowly, taking all his energy. "Stay happy"
"We'll stay happy together Prem" she whispered. Their wedding…honeymoon…it was all planned…they were both so young…with dreams needed to be fulfilled.
"Stay happy Heer" he mustered a smile, shaking his head at her tears.
She leaned into hug him. He'd instilled life into her, he'd become her life. He couldn't leave.
His wish of taking his last breath in her arms came true at that moment, as he weakly held her close, going into a deep, peaceful slumber. Till death do us apart.

Realized how bad this is? Good. Blame Meera for making me write it 😊
I'm never writing a songfic ever again 🥱
And no don't blame her for the tragedy 😕😆
I wrote it as pure fluff...then I listened to the song, and there were two lines at the end talking about death...so I couldn't help but go back and open it again, to create a new version...all it took was moving around some paragraphs and all that...and *tada* it turned tragic. 😃
So fluff is below this, for people that wanna shoot me for tragic 😳
I'd like to give credit to Meera, Shabo, Radz, Bhav, Zahra, Ravz - who've inspired me! 😳
