Guess who's back with another surprise one-shot! This one's for a friend who had a really, really bad day yesterday, and I wanted to give her a different perspective on her situation, so I wrote a little something to cheer her up, and knowing her? She's gonna be sooooooo cheered up! 😆 I have a habit of leaving the girl's name till the end, but today I figured it'd work better this way. So enjoy!

Chup Chup Ke
Nonee sighed in frustration, glaring at her ceiling. She couldn't believe she had gotten grounded. She silently threw the Unforgivable Curses at her brother, wishing yet again she was an only child.
She sat up on her bed, looking around for a pillow to hug. She reached behind her and pulled her pillow out from behind her. She hugged it, burying her face in the polka-dotted pillowcase.
Well, if she was grounded, she might as well make the most of things. She got up and headed to her desk. She picked up her file, staring at her paper. The mere sight of it repulsed her, and she tossed it back down to her desk. She sighed again and returned to her bed. She grabbed a book from her bedside table and flopped down on her bed, belly down, and began reading.
Her phone buzzed, startling her. She frowned, wondering who it could be. She smiled seeing her best friend Aradhna's name there. She opened the text message.
I'm bored. Let's go watch a movie! :D
She sighed. Her fingers keyed out a reply in seconds, and she hit 'send'.
Sorry, Radz. Grounded. :(
She returned her attention to her book, but the words swam in front of her eyes. She closed her book just as her phone buzzed again.
Aww…Adi again? You wanna talk about it?
Nonee made a face.
No, I'm fine. I hate Adi though. He's a stupid icky boy. :P
Radz was probably laughing over that, Nonee thought as she turned to stare at the ceiling again. I'm bored.

Nonee's phone buzzed right next to her ear, startling her. She sat up, rubbing her eyes. When had she fallen asleep?
Her phone continued to buzz, and a flustered Nonee patted her bed, looking for it. Her hand closed around it, and she picked it up. She smiled at the name on the screen.
"Hello?"
"Nonee, kahaan ho tum?"
"Maine tumhe bataya nahin ki I've been grounded?" she said dryly.
"Nahin, Nonee. Tumne apne best friend ko bataya, lekin apne boyfriend ko nahin."
Nonee rolled her eyes at the mock hurt in his voice. "Sorry, baba. I was angry. Tumhare bare mein bhool gayi. I'm sorry."
"Nonee, you're not supposed to be on the phone."
Nonee turned to the door, and she threw her pillow at her brother. "Go away, Adi."
"Adi?" the boy on the phone asked. "Tum phone par mujhse baatein kar rahi ho, aur apne bhai ke bare mein soch rahi ho?!"
Nonee rolled her eyes again. "Mujhe please confuse mat karo!"
He laughed. "Sorry. Achcha suno, come to your window."
Nonee frowned. "Kya?"
"Come to your window. It's an easy enough instruction, Nonee. Come to your window."
Still frowning, Nonee clambered out of her bed and went to her window. She gasped, nearly dropping her phone. "Preet?! Tum yahaan kaise aaye? Tum toh…you were…the restaurant…"
"Are you going to keep babbling, or are you going to help me up?" he asked, grinning at her, still on the phone.

Her door locked so no sneaky brothers could intrude on her, Nonee lay on her bed, curled up against the love of her life.
"…and then he told Mum that I flunked my paper, so now I'm grounded until I get a better grade." She sighed. "Why couldn't I have been an only child, Preet?" she asked, turning her head up to look at him.
He smiled down at her, playing with her hair. "Think of it this way, Nonee: would you have met me if you were an only child?"
Nonee laughed. "I can't believe you're Adi's friend. And I can't believe you snuck in here just to see me."
Preet kissed her forehead. "Just because you're grounded doesn't mean you have to be miserable, Nonee."
Nonee closed her eyes in bliss, nestling closer against Preet. Being grounded was one of the best things that had happened to her.

Nonee, hope this made you feel better! 🤗 Remember, all is not doomed! And if it is, well, you always have us to vent to! 😆
Love,
Bhav (:
