Part 25
"Heer…Heer" Prem called out to Heer as he felt her forehead which was warmer than usual, in fact, it was very warm.
Prem got up from the bed and went to get a cold wet towel which was to be placed on her forehead to bring down the fever. As he placed the damp towel on her forehead gently, he thought about the moments he had spent with Heer last night. She had been out in the cold, the rain, for so long and wasn't willing to come inside. She had cried on Prem's chest and he was unable to stop her tears. She missed her father and he wasn't able to do anything to make her feel cheerful again. All he could do, was let her sit outside…and cry.
A twitch of the eye, a squirm of the leg…the sudden movement shocked Prem and brought him back to reality as he noticed Heer was waking up. Heer gently opened her eyes slowly and tried to get up, which for her, seemed painful as she felt weak. She couldn't help but fall back on to the bed…
"Heer, don't try to get up. I am here. If you want anything just tell me. I am with you Heer… I am with you"
"Prem, what time is it?"
"Its 9:00 AM, but don't worry, I have already instructed baba (the servant) to prepare today's breakfast as you aren't feeling well"
"Prem, its okay, I am fine, I can do it"
"Heer, just sleep…please Heer", Prem asked with such concern, with such apprehensiveness that Heer couldn't say no. She closed her eyes and Prem sat beside her the whole time she slept.
A knock on the door and Heer was awake once again. As she tried to get up, she noticed a load on her right leg preventing her from getting off the bed. She lifted her body off from the bed and noticed Prem, he had been waiting beside her just incase she needed anything. He was sleeping though, sleeping with a different expression that Heer was not familiar with. The face that once dazzled with smile was now overwhelmed by anxiety. Another knock and Heer had to gently push Prem aside so that she could open the door. As she got up, her feet touched the cold floor leaving a shudder down her back, Prem also woke up because of the sudden movements surrounding him. He tried to tell Heer to go back to bed, but a stubborn Heer quickly replied no and the two headed for the door. Prem opened the door and found Lalit standing in front of them with a big smile. Beside him, Gayatri and Preet stood with a sense of worry as they asked Heer how she was feeling…
"Acchoo" she sneezed
"That answer you question Mamma" Preet remarked as Gayatri gave him a look
"Heer Prem, we noticed that the whole time you have been here, after marriage, we or one" she hinted at Preet as she made the comment " of us has/have been bugging you. We know you need your privacy and so we decided…"
Lalit pulled out two tickets to Venice…Prem and Heer stood there, shocked…
"Arey, ghoor ghoor ke kiya dekh rahey ho (what are you staring at), these are your honeymoon tickets, take it beta, enjoy" said Lalit as he patted Prem on the back and placed his hand on Heer's head for blessings.
Heer and Prem both looked at each other and touched Lalit's feet for blessings, and then the trio left the room. Prem closed the door…
"Hmm, honeymoon, I never thought of that"
"Why would you think of it Prem, everyone knows you aren't romantic" Teased Heer
Prem felt agitated, even though he knew she was joking…
"I am not romantic? Me? Just wait Heer, When we go to our honeymoon, we'll see who isn't romantic"
"Why?" questioned Heer with a sense of shyness "I mean what are you planning to do"
"What do you mean what I am planning to do?"
"Prem. You're crazy"
"Yeah, for you. Do I need to remind you of how romantic I made our first…"
"Prem, bas…please…" Heer said as she blushed like never before
Prem came closer to Heer who was looking at her feet. He came closer and closer. He grabbed Heer's veil and brought it up to her forehead, as if she were a newly wed. He brought her face up with his finger and pecked her cheek. She wrapped her hands around his waist gently and rested her head on his chest
"Heer, kal raat, you got me really worried Heer…do you know how much I love you…I cant see you crying…"
He caressed her hair as the veil fell on the shoulder. He gently wrapped his hands around her bare waist and got closer to her neck. He stroked her hair aside leaving a bare neck to place his kiss on and did so. He brought his hands to her palms and then back up to her shoulders again and then…
"Achoo"
"Heer, way to ruin a moment"
He joked as he hugged her once more and the both of the giggled in the arms of one another…
The next morning was a mad rush as everyone was bidding farewell to the new couple for their honeymoon. They had packed their bags even though Heer was a little sick. She was feeling better than last morning but she was a little sick. Anyway, Preet helped the couple carry their bags to the car so that they can take it with them.
"Bye beta, have fun" Gayatri waved "Take care of my Heer, she is still sick"
"Don't worry mamma, she is Bhaiyya's Heer now" joked Preet as he yelled across the porch where he was helping Prem and Heer get ready to leave
As Prem kept the bags inside the trunk of the car, Preet brought Heer to the corner of the house and…
"Bhabhi"
"Kia Preet", Heer replied irritated as she wanted to go with Prem
"Listen..shh..i know you want to go with your 'pati parmeshwar' but listen…"
"If this is about Meher, I already told her everything she needs to know"
"Heer yaar, kitna bolti ho (you talk so much), let him speak" Prem said from the corner
Preet whispered into her ear "Bacha"
"WHAT" replied a shocked Heer
Prem suddenly moved from his place on the count of Heer's scream…"Kia hua Heer"
"Nothing lets go..come Prem"
"Lekin Heer?"
As they left, Heer turned around and stuck her tongue out to Preet who, in return, made a gesture of cradling a baby in his arms to irritate an already irritated Heer.
….Post airplane ride…
Venezia, known as Venice is one of the most unusual and romantic places in the world today.
As Heer and Prem came out of the airport, they didn't hear any car horns, alarms, or even squeaking brakes. There was just peace and quiet with a slight hum of the motor boats zooming by. They walked across a bridge where they encountered two lovers kissing…Heer looked down shyly as the moment reminded her of her and Prem's first kiss…as they walked down the bridge, Prem looked back and found the two lovers still kissing. He blushed…there was nothing to interrupt them, not even the slightest care in the world which contrasted his and Heer's interrupted kiss.
Prem and Heer sat on the motor boat in which the man sang cheerful romantic songs. Prem and Heer both looked into each other's eyes and unknowingly held each other's hands. Heer rested her head on Prem's shoulder…
Even the night in this city was noticeably different…the sky sparkled with stars and the moon enlightened the neighborhood with its light. The trees whistled as the wind blew across from them and the faint chatter of birds was alarmingly romantic…
Prem and Heer got down from the boat at the hotel that had been reserved for them…As they entered the room, they noticed the bed was in shape of a heart, the chair was lavishly placed in the left corner of the room, and the room was gracefully designed to welcome guests.
Heer took off her bag and placed it inside the cupboard when suddenly two hands wrapped around her waist causing her to suddenly move. Heer turned around to see Prem charismatic eyes stare deeply into hers
"If you sneeze and ruin this moment Heer,…"
"What will you do"
"I just don't want any interruptions this time"
Heer was against the wall as Prem was coming closer trying to place a kiss on her lips. Heer wasn't letting him do so and so he picked her up in his arms. He kept her right hand on his shoulder and buried her face in his chest as she felt shy. Prem just looked at her…
As he gently placed her on the bed, he bent down and took off her heels and brought her feet up the bed. He sat right beside and stared into her eyes. Heer felt so submerged in the thoughts of Prem that her blood rushed to her face and she couldn't look into his eyes anymore. His faint smile was so alluring that Heer felt something inside of herself spark, it was as if electricity was being created inside of her. Heer closed her eyes and held onto Prem's hand tightly. They were just an inch apart when there was a knock on the door…
"Arey yaar" Prem looked so disappointed and irritated "Kabhi Preet, to kabhi yeh" He angrily got up and went towards the door. Before opening he looked at Heer who was looking at him and smiling… her smile made everything okay again…all of a sudden he didn't feel mad.
He opened the door and there was a card… an invitation…
"Invitation?"
"Invitation to what Prem?"
"To the ballroom dance"
"What"
"Haan, me and you are going to dance" He winked and smiled as he teased Heer
"But I cant dance Prem…Prem…Prem nahi.." she kept giggling as he kept taking steps closer and closer to her with a playful look "Prem..please abhi nahi…Prem, someone will come again.."
He didn't budge…all she could do was run as prem ran behind her...
