they showed the ishthakhara wrong.. its just prayer, then a numaz, and then ALLAH(SWT) gives u an answer by showing. like maybe in ur dreams or something.. if it is not to be HE shows obstacles... and u dont always get the answer in one day..

or did they do something different and i missed it...????

You're right. Normallty, I believe it is supposed to be a sign in your dreams, and it should only be done when one is in a dilemma, as in confusion between two options (ie- which school to go to, who to marry, etc.). I don't think it is performed by an outisde person, only the person it is pertinent to. But I understand why Ekta twisted it-- so that it would be easier for Indian, non-Muslim audiences to understand as then it becomes very similar to what a Hindu priest does.

Thats not istikhara then!!

Istikhara is when you pray a dua after salah, do it for seven days and you either dream or come to a conclusion after seven days. And the best istikhara is when the person does it for himself/herself!!

yeah thats what I thought...
you pray istiharah before you go to sleep and then Allah shows the Option best for you. I haven't heard of a Imam doing it. but then again like dhoopkinary said it targets hindu-muslim audiences..

Yea, I was a bit confused as well! I have never witnessed Istikhara myself, but I know that when my dad is in some sort of huge dilemma, he asks his mom to take Istikhara. [So with our family, our Grandma being the eldest usually does it, my dad wants his mom to do it for him, and she does, I've never heard of the fact that you have to do it yourself.]

wow so much things i learnt...

well i felt to attract hindus-muslim viewers ekta changed it....this is some sort like kundali of hindu custom

in our hindu customs we believe all those stuff of seeing birthdays...universe planets and stars and match a relationship if they are meant together and it is always done by a pandit(hindu priest)....

hindus believes in universal planet and stars because that is what god made first
even my mom sees my horoscope....

i guess ekta does the hindus way...but thanx yaar i knew a new thing abt isthakhara
