Pune, March 4 A perfect potpourri of glamour and sportsman spirit, Tuesday evening was also an exciting combination of brawn and glitterati. When team Bollywood played against team Pune XI at the Abhijit Kadam Memorial Foundation Football Tournament, temperatures soared. Scheduled to begin at 6.30 pm, the Bollywood stars certainly managed to make 'an entry' by arriving at 8.30 pm. The audience shouted and screamed as the bandwagon of stars — Salman Khan, Govinda, Suneil Shetty, Sohail Khan, Shreyas Talpade, Kunal Khemu, Ashish choudhary, Yash Tonk and Ranbir Kapoor — entered the ground dressed in blue jerseys. The Pune XI team comprised Dhanraj Pillay, Vishwas Nangre-Patil, Mandar Tamhane, Micky Aigner, Viswajit Kadam and several others dressed in white jerseys. As soon as the match begin, the Bollywood guys set the scoreboard moving with Shabbir Ahluwalia hitting the first goal. But the excitement did not last long as Vishwajit Kadam set the post on fire, scoring two consecutive goals for Pune XI. The crowd was having a gala time, screaming and the cheering every time the ball approached the goal and when the stars came close to the seats. Some quiet moments later, it was time to make the cheerleaders dance and wave as our very own Saawariya, Ranbir Kapoor turned on the charm. Ranbir seemed to be the hot favourite amongst the girls as one could hear chants of his name when everything went quiet. The Pune team decided to give the stars cutthroat competition and Tamhane sent the ball into the net, putting Pune ahead at 3-2. Sohail Khan, who tried his best to score a goal, gave it up, falling down during a couple of attempts. He returned to the pit to relax with brother Salman and Suneil Shetty. Ranbir, meanwhile, seemed like an everlasting battery, as he equalled the score by netting the third goal for his team. The stars seemed a bit nervous as they missed a golden opportunity — a penalty kick, with the ball going straight over the goal post into the crowd.
Shifting the focus from fans to the game seemed to be quite a task for the stars... but it was Bollywood that reigned supreme in the end, beating Pune 9-5.
