Recently, Sanjeeda Sheikh and boyfriend Aamir Ali were in Dubai for a work-cum-pleasure trip.

Apparently, Sanjeeda had such a great time shopping at the huge malls there, that she almost refused to come back home. The couple had gone there to perform at an event and attend a telly awards function, but between all that, they also managed to find time to spend at the malls.

A source says, "Sanjeeda and Aamir had such a great time that they were reluctant to end their much-deserved holiday and return home. Also, Sanjeeda was supposed to start shooting for Kayamath, so this was a great opportunity for her to chill out before hitting the studios."

Negative comes naturally: Madhura Naik

After portraying several negative roles in Kayamath, Bidaai and Kis Des Mein Hai Mera Dil, Madhura Naik will be seen in a completely new avatar in Shakuntala (Star One), in which she will play a positive character. But nonetheless, she says she loves playing negative more.

"I've played negative characters in many of the Balaji shows, like Kayamath and Kis Des. I simply enjoy playing them more because the negative comes out so naturally for me," says the bad girl.
Madhura will be playing Prince Dushyant's sister. She tells us, "I am playing Princess Gauri who is Dushyant's sister. I can't reveal much but I can tell you that it will be a parallel lead and she will also have a love track."

According to the actress, one of the main reasons to take up the show was because she wanted to learn about the love story of Shakuntala. She says, "I don't know anything about Shakuntala, I've just heard her name… to know better about her, I decided to take up this show. And apart from that, obviously I love experimenting about things and this was something new."

However, she has other reasons as well. She says, "It's completely different from what I've been doing. I am not scared; excited, actually."

Madhura tells us that she was approached to play the role of Shakuntala few months ago but couldn't as she was busy doing two shows. She adds, "I was busy with Kayamath but when I realized that it will positively shut down by March, I took up this."

She makes it clear that her look in the show is not mythological but more like Jodha's. She tells us, "Shakuntala is not a mythological but a period drama. My look is very similar to that of Aishwarya's in Jodha-Akbar. The jewellery, the lehenga is just like hers."

Madhura will be entering the show tonight.

"I wanted to get married to a second man," says Panchi

Ekta's serials seem to be dropping like flies. And it's happened to Kayamath (Star Plus) too, which was running successfully for the last two years. The show bid goodbye to its viewers last night. Panchi Bora, the lead actress speaks to us about the emotional farewell.

"WE had real fun on the sets on the last day," says Panchi, "Kayamath has been a very beautiful journey for us. More than the show, it is those good memories which I will carry with me. On Saturday, the last day, the entire team gathered and we all wished each other loads of luck and success. We all did lots of masti and clicked photographs."
Panchi says she is not really happy with the way the show concluded. She adds, "I wanted it to end on a happier note. In the last shot, Tanay's identity is revealed. It is shown that he is the real murderer and the one who does black magic."

She also feels that the show ran its course some time ago, saying, "It should have ended thoda pehle jab beech mein sab kuch achcha ho raha tha, tabhi end ho jaana chahiye tha."

As for her character, Panchi wishes her track would have been different, saying, "I truly think that I should have got married to a second man. I got married to the same person five times but didn't get married to anyone else. But then, I am glad that a leap didn't take place on our show."

Apart from missing the show terribly, there are many other things which the actress will miss a lot. She tells us, "I will really miss all the masti which we used to do between the master takes. I'll miss those small little fights which I used to have with Jay, Sanjeeda and Bharat on really stupid issues. I'll miss all those guys badly. Sanjeeda is a darling and so are the others. I'm going to miss everything!"

After wrapping up with the show, the actress will spend some time with her family and will get back to work as soon as she gets a good enough offer.

Kayamath's last episode was aired last night at 11pm on Star Plus.

Traveling and haggling makes Madhura quit Shakuntala

Madhura Naik entered Shakuntala (Star One) a month ago as Dushyant's sister Gauri but her stint on the show was to be short lived. The actress quit the serial due to mounting problems, the worst being the traveling involved.

Madhura speaks to us about her sudden exit, saying, "I quit Shakuntala about a week ago. It was a problem traveling every two days from Mumbai to Ahemdabad, where the set is located. It was becoming very stressful so I decided to quit."
The actress says that she also had troubles coping with both her shows, Kis Des Mein Hai Mera Dil and Shakuntala. She adds, "I was shooting for Kis Des in Mumbai and the set of Shakuntala is in Gandhinagar. Every two days, I had to catch a flight from Mumbai and fly there. It was becoming very difficult."

Apart from this, Madhura says that there were other reasons behind her decision to leave the show. She says, "They never gave me contract letter; they promised me many things initially, but they haven't kept their promises."

Elaborating on the empty promises, she says, "They said that they would pay my airfare but eventually told me that they'll pay only half of it. They also told me that they'll coordinate with me and that I'd have to shoot for just 15 days a month but they made me shoot for 25 instead! The Balaji production unit is very sweet and that's the reason I could do both the shows."

Madhura is sad to leave Shakuntala halfway through as it was doing really well. "Shakuntala was perhaps very good for me. People loved my character more than Shakuntala's. In Kis Des, I am playing a negative role so the importance becomes slightly less. On the other hand, people really appreciated my role in Shakuntala. I feel sad to quit but I can't really help it."

One thing she definitely won't miss is being decked up for the shoot. She says, "I enjoyed the show but shooting with the heavy costumes and heavy jewellery was very difficult. On top of that, it was outdoors and the temperature there is usually very high."

Payal Sarkar, who was seen in Waqt Batayega Kaun Apna Kaun Paraya, has replaced Madhura as Gauri. To this, Madhura says, "Well, I won't like to comment but I wish her all the best!"

Presently in Kis Des Mein Hai Mera Dil, Madhura's track is in full flow as her onscreen marriage is going to take place soon.

Payal Sarkar's entry as Gauri was shown last week on Shakuntala.

Panchi: From soap queen to soap commercials

Panchi Bora, popularly known as Prachi of Kayamath, has been out of work since the show wrapped up. She hasn't taken up any acting projects and Balaji hasn't offered her any roles either. But Panchi still tries to keep busy; she has recently done work for another daily soap – not a serial but an advertisement for Godrej No. 1.

SHE says, "I want to do some good work but nothing of the sort has come my way yet. Balaji too hasn't offered me anything though I am sure they will let me know if they have something."
The actress is managing to keep the money coming in by starring in an advertisement. Panchi says, "It's an ad for Godrej No. 1, which is a daily soap. In the advert, a girl with glowing skin is shown winning the Miss India contest." Coincidently, Panchi was once crowned 'Miss Personality' in her college in Pune.

Commercials, says the actress, are very close to her heart. "I started my career with commercials and shot for a Cadbury ad in 2004. That was my first. So when I was offered this commercial, I didn't give it a second thought and decided to go for it."

Another reason for agreeing to the soap ad is because she feels that skin is a very important constituent that should always be taken special care off. "When you see yourself in the mirror, it is good skin that boosts your confidence and adds to your personality. One should always take care of their skin," she says.

The actress hates make up and believes in her 'mummy ki nuskhe' saying, "I don't like make up. I follow my mother's tips. I take care of my skin by drinking lots of water and eating healthy food. I apply lemon and honey on it everyday and eat tomato and cucumber, which are very good for the skin."

And Panchi has even more beauty tips. She adds, "Multani mitti and chandan are very good for the skin. Then, ground masoor ki dal is also excellent and neem is very good if you have pimples."

Other than the commercial, Panchi is enjoying all the free time that unemployment has provided her with. She says, "There was a Mahamrityunjay Yagya happening at my place which just got over. Presently, my cousins have all come over and we are having a great time together. We watch movies and as I am very fond of reading, I do that too."

TV's bearded blokes: Rugged or ughed?
Sonali Joshi/Hill Road Media

Even though the trend on television has always been the cute, clean-shaven, boy-next-door look, there are some bearded blokes who manage to get our pulses racing. Check out TV's hunks who dare to sport facial hair and carry off the macho look with aplomb…as well as those who better head to the barber soon to s(h)ave face.

Shabbir Ahluwalia
He usually sports a stubble and moustache, which has got him quite a fan following amongst the ladies. To go with his rugged look, the actor also wears his hair a little longer. Even most of his roles demand he has the unkempt look. We like!

Shabbir Ahluwalia
Shabbir's trademark look of hair up to his neck and stubble are old news now. We can't remember him ever sporting a short crop and would love if he'd just have a bit of a haircut and maybe a few highlights. And if Ahluwalia had the time, maybe a close shave would be good. We'd love to see how he really looks under all that stubble.
