Opti I must admit Petruchio was one hell of a guy to tame that Katherine.... yes it would've been wonderful if a Neesha track would've followed on those lines.... About the movies you mention I'm clueless I'm not a movie buff.

She's was awesome as Juliet...actually quite perfect but i don't know Romeo was lacking something. But like i said i dont' like tragic love stories...i had watched it just for D'Caprio but you are right the rest of the cast made it look like circus.
Sadly I hate Macbeth JC and I hate Julius Ceaser too I hate all political related scenarios because I hate politics OMG...lolz..i love politics...am actually quite interested in it currently...might take up a cause soon. I love power plays (in stories). But i liked Macbeth for other reaons...actually i read that one during a very difficult time in my life and it just sparked something in me...and i needed that spark very much at that point. I think it was my reaction to that story that really helped me. It might be hard to understand...but i guess i got too involved reading that one...into the characters and the their psyche...i had to do a detailed analysis of it for my English class. If i had read it just for reading i might not have reacted the same way. And Julius Ceaser was another one i loved. Fav part was the speach by the orator. Also something i read for school. I think that might be the reason i liked these two...cause i read them in depth and wrote about them...and i am very much interested in history so the fact that Shakespeare's stories depict a life that i dont' see in my world today makes the stories more interesting. I love period flicks too (the well made ones).
and to think that it was my option at college Political science. I've never hated any other subject so much even Economics was bearable compared to Polit Sc. I took one Polit. Sc class when i was doing my BBA. and guess what i liked it better than my economics class.😆😆😆 I detest Shakespeare's songs and sonnets and couplets I guess because in today's time you find no need for songs in text, but since in those days these plays were acted out the songs were an important aspect to avoid monotony caused by dialogues. I love his sonnets and couplets...and the twisted way of saying things. Even for his time Shakepeare's writing was unique...his peers didn't write like him...it was his unique style. And i love it.

lolz munee we are so different.

I so wanted a Neesha track which will go that way. 😆 Our wish will remain a wish😭 Talking of simple love stories told beautifully, my all time favourite is Mouna Raagam. I also like Hrishkesh Mukerjee's and Faazil's movies. me toooooo. Actually Fazil is my fav in mallu. Like Priyadarshan's comedies too but sometimes he gets repetitive and thus boring. But Fazil's movies are always dear to me. Even some of the ones that didn't do so well in the box office, i've loved them. Having a brilliant cast (the old one) all the creatives needed to do was to have come up with a decent believable plot. hahah...see now you are asking for the moon. It might be more possible to bring a dead Ayesha back and start her love story with Neev. As to Shabbo and Panchi they can emote so welll with just their eyes. Imagine their performance if onlky they had a good story to back them up. Akka...lets not imagine things that will break our hearts...lets rather come to terms with reality.

The reason you root for Prachi and I for Milind..... yes I agree we are poles apart. I never loved politics because I hate power play I love history and most of it strewn with people who used power for the wrong cause. Power should be balanced too much of it causes man to consider himself God dimagh ki kharabi ka karan hota hai. All throughout history there's been this constant struggle to attain power some even had the brains to chalk out world domination plans Hitler and the British in general. Power was the reason the pharoahs became tyrants overworking the civilians for their own causes building those tombs fruitless labours what use are they to mankind today except to serve as memoires of past glories lived by a selective few. I strongly abolish such power. The reason I hate Macbeth is that he was a perfectly good young man but what did greed and power do to him destroy him completely. Taking the witches words as final you can never snatch anyone's rights and consider them their own in the end it was Banquo's posterity who followed the throne not Macbeth's a valiant and courageous young man finished by greed. As for Shakespeare's sonnets I don't find their use today the reason i tend to skip them.... ofcourse they are timeless hits whoever could not have read The Seven ages of man or Ariel's song. "Merrily merrily shall I live now , under the blossom that hangs from the bough" I really love this one....😊

Munee, Mouna Raagam is simply the best film Mani Ratnam had ever made. It tells the story of this young post grad girl who is forced into marriage. She hates to be married but does so to please her father. She remains cold to her husband who had initially thought that she was shy but later realises there is much more when she asks him for a divorce within days of the marriage. This too when he asks her what she wants as the first gift from him after their wedding. The poor guy is crest fallen but agrees to give it to her once he hears her story.
It seems she had been in love with this guy who was a naxalite (one of those exuberant youths who decide to take law into their own hands when things go wrong). They meet in an encounter and though she initially has scant respect for him she soon falls in love with him as the guy pursues her ceaselessly. The guy is funny, cocky and good natured. However, his goondaism does not go down well with her and she coaxes him into giving it all up if he wants her. He reluctantly agrees and they decide to secretly have a registered marriage. On the day of the marriage though, the guy is shot dead by the police in front of her eyes. She is unable to tell anyone of what had happened since nobody was even aware of her affair. She tells her husband that though her lover is dead she is not able to forget him and will only live with his thoughts.
Her husband agrees to grant her the divorce since he does not want to hold her in a marriage against her will although her past really does not matter to him. However, the lawyer says that there is a mandatory 1 year waiting period even in a divorce of mutual consent. So they live under the same roof but not as husband and wife. The girl then gets an opportunity to closely observe his character. This guy is a dream husband any girl would love to have. He is soft spoken, well read and most of all very sensitive to other's feelings. There is this one incident which really sticks out. The girl's parents come to visit her and he behaves very curtly with them. After they leave the girl gets upset with him and tells him that he has no right to treat them that way and that he should deal with her. The guy patiently tells her that after a year when she returns back to them, they should not blame her for the break down of the marriage since she is their daughter and he does not want them to think badly of her. Seeing his behaviour with them, they will think she is better off without this person. He also says that it was very difficult to behave in that manner with them since he had no parents and considered them as his own but he had to do it for her sake. He says all this in a matter of fact manner, not to make her feel guilty, but just put across his point. There are many more instances that makes the girl fall for her husband although the guy is clueless about her change of feelings. At the end of the one year period, there is a small misunderstanding and they separate.
On the day she was to leave, he comes to the station to hand over the divorce, saying that he does not want her to leave without getting the only gift she wanted from him. The girl then breaks down and admits how much she loves him and she has no intention to leave him but is doing so because he did not ask her to stay back. She tears up the papers saying that she will always be his wife and no court can decide against it. She then leaves and gets into the train. Her husband is first too stunned to react immediately. He then chases her and in a typical cinematic style, gets into a moving train and pulls the chain to stop it, getting off with his wife in his arms.
The movie had some excellent performances by the leads and the lover who was there only for a short time, but left his mark. The songs and the lyrics are great too. I had used the title music of the movie in my forgiveness mix.

I agree Munee and i think i love history for the same reason that it teaches you at every point the evils of greed for power. But i truly do like politics...cause its unavoidable even in a common man's life. Its a mistake to think that politics is for the politicians who are struggling for power. Politics is for those who want to make sure another person's greed for power and domination doesn't undermine their rights. I was very disillusioned by the corporate politics...but i think it was rash in my decision now...i guess i was too inexperienced and took a hasty decision. But now i realize that i can't run from it. Power struggles are a part of everyday life. And i am put in a position where i can be the leader or the follower...and naturally i'd rather lead.😳 Never been a follower and don't intend to be one.

I like Macbeth precicely for the reason you don't like it. Cause i think its a lesson that needs to be well learned by many. There is no such thing as a perfect crime...there is always your concious that knows...and you can never hide from it. I feel that the humanity is lost today...there are just too many psychos out there completely out of touch with what makes us all human...and that saddens me. Another one that i really like that is of the similar theme as Macbeth is "Tell-tale heart" by Edgar Allan Poe. The rated on himself because his concious was pricking at him...he kept hearing heart beats...and never could get rid of that...just like Macbeth was haunted.

Oh I've seen the movie it's a classic in my opinion only the name was changed I saw it Kasak starring Neelam and Rishi Kapoor. Rishi Kapoor is the man who Neelam's father chooses for her but she denies the match. Her father then has a heart attack which causes her to reconsider and so ends up marrying Rishi. Rishi is stunned when she shuns him but thinks she is shy but finally when he touches her she loses it and tells him about her lover Chunky Pandey. In similar fashion Chunky too is shot on the court steps where Neelam awaits him to finalise their register marraige. Rishi then applies for divorce but the lawyer tells him it's not applicable before a full year of matrimony so they have to wait. The scene you tell of her parents coming home was good Rishi screams at her while they are within earshot when Neelam questions him he tells her it was done so that her parents consider him to be at fault when they finally get the divorce. Rishi then has an accident and Neelam takes care of him finally falling for him. By then things are beyond repair and he starts shunning her she leaves then but regrets her actions and decision. At the station Rishi hands her the divorce claiming that was the only gift she had asked of him and if he hadn't given it to her he'd have felt guilty. Neelam then accepts her love for him some powerful dialogues and wonderful acting ofcourse the cinrematic end he pulling the chain and taking her away in his arms. I loved one of the songs from the movie very much.
Ik baar pyaar ka mouqa to hamein dijiye the sad version in the woman's voice played on Neelam while she leaves for the station.

Munee, didn't know that this was remade into a hindi movie. If I had known all I could have done is to name the movie instead of typing out the entire story!

Yes even I'm surprised at the copy paste not even a scene was changed now was it..... well now you know it the hindi version is called Kasak I guess it was made back in the late 80's. Have you seen Prem Rog Opti..... I like it very much especially Deodhar's stand for Maorama and her plight after being widowed.

Oh Jc sadly politics is always considered a money making game by politicians and it hasn't left a very impressive mark on many though if I had to choose between following and leading I too would prefer to lead but if the following is under a good leadership there's no harm in doing that too, provided the leader is selfless and has clear cut goals and strategies to achieve them.
