As expected he is in hospital. He can atleast think about Kukki if not for himself. See how Kukki started crying knowing that he is not well. And seeing him she is so upset and worried. She didn't even leave him just holding him close to her 😭.
This is the place where he lost his mother and now he wants to buy it and name it after her👍🏼. He had only Kukki to share about his past, about his mother.
Prerna worried for him but upset because of him. But she couldn't control herself meeting him. Looks like she is going to realise it soon about what she wants in her life, just see how she thought this is her world looking at both of them. Just listen to Kukki and be friends for her, and a couple for both of them. Why can't they simply talk and clear the misunderstanding between them.
Nice update. Waiting for the next one.
chapter 10: nice update, i don't know why people are so stubborn sometimes. Please try to make your chapters a little longer they're just soo good.
Wow!!!! Dear what a mindblowing part yaar 👍🏼 And yeah I got more than an intense scene between our PreRish which I loved so much. But most of all Rishab's pain affected me a lot 😭 The moment he realised that he's in the same hospital room where his mother breathed her last and he was so helpless during that time 😔 not able to do anything to help was so brilliantly written by you that bang it straight went to my heart and brought tears to my eyes 😭😭 But Rishab's next move just made me so proud of him and I was like in Awe of him and his heart ❤️ He instantly bought the hospital and named it after his mom ❤️ Than our adorable Cookie entered and once again my heart melted in a puddle of Love seeing them cuddling like that ❤️. Prerna was so hesitant in entering his hospital room but at last she did and instead of being caring towards him she was rude yaar and than rishab also snapped back and they again hurt each other 😭Prerna needs to solve her own thoughts of this marriage and Mr. Bajaj and think clearly what she wants from her life cause rishab never forced her for anything and she never spoke what her heart felt. I think it's high time she listens to her heart and take a sane decision.
I got your intense scene :)
[/ofcourse you did but Prerna's hate you killed Rishab and me tooQUOTE]
Superb awsm update

I am glad you liked Rishab's history, I wanted to show how he's making a full circle of his life. He doesn't see himself as having it all like others do, cause like he said, he didn't have an opportunity to take care of his mom.

Chapter 11:
Hospital waiting room...
Prerna pressed her temple in frustration: But Maa, he's not even telling me what happened to him. Probably cracked his head open again, but it's still not set straight. Stupid, stubborn man, kuch nehi kheh raha hai mujhe. He asked me what do I care!? Like, really!? And he tried to distance Kukki from me. I could just kill him!
Veena smiled to herself: That would defeat the purpose, wouldn't it? Seriously, why don't you ask his Maasi?
Prerna: She and Tanvi went home. They stayed here last night so they needed to rest and they are not exactly talking to me.
Veena: Then ask one of the hospital staff and let us know too. Text me if you are busy.
Prerna: I am so stressed, I didn't even think of it. Thanks Maa.
Prerna hung up and rushed toward the nurses' area.
Three of the nurses were giggling behind the desk and couldn't be bothered when Prerna approached and was waiting to be addressed.
Shalini: I just put another saline on Rishab Bajaj! He's sooo handsome, you won't believe it! Those eyes...oh my god, or unki lashes toh kisi bhi larki ko jealous banade. Fake lashes se bhi lamba! Like a cow!
Amina bitterly: Saali, bohot lucky hai tu jo teri department me para. I couldn't believe it when I heard he came to this hospital!
Pooja pouted: I need to find some excuse to see him. I have only seen him in magazines and papers. Does he really look that good in real life?
Shalini: Even better! Mein leke jaungi tujhe next round me kuch excuse banake, you can see for yourself.
Amina made a face: And I am going to be stuck behind this desk listening to people's complaints (she swiveled her chair around and came face to face with Prerna). Oh! Yes, how can I help Miss?
Prerna's blood was boiling, how dare these women be so unprofessional? Rishab is not some fish in an aquarium for them to admire like a spectacle. Whatmore he was sick! And his lashes were none of their business!
Prerna glared darkly at them: I want to see Rishab Bajaj's report please.
They gave each other knowing looks and then, Amina turned around with a thin smile.
Amina: We don't just share medical reports with just anyone, Miss. Only Mr. Bajaj or his next of kin can see them. So please, if you will excuse us...
Prerna snapped: I am Mrs. Ba...(she stopped, he had taken back his mangal sutra) I am the mother of his child. Now, do you mind!?
They all looked at each other again in alarm and then went red in the face.
Amina scrambled: Sorry, sorry maam, we didn't mean anything by it all. Here (she shoved a folder in her direction), we thought you were press. There have been a lot of them inquiring about him today. We didn't know, sorry!
Prerna glared at them silently and left.
Amina called back: Wait maam, we need that back!
Prerna: I will bring it back!
She went into the waiting room seething. Stupid women. She flipped through the notes. The words jumped out at her as her heart sank. "Days without consumption. Concussion from exhaustion. Dehydration. Saline applied. Reported light-headedness, CAT scan showed no concerns. Bandages applied. Ready for discharge tomorrow morning."
Prerna wondered why was he starving himself? Was he so negligent about his health because of work before? She hadn't observed it.
Prerna closed the folder and went to return it. On the way she saw Chandu come by with a bag for Rishab. She stopped him.
Prerna: What happened, Chandu?
Chandu: I was just bringing sir's clothes and essentials maam. Nice to see you here. Sir will get well soon now.
Prerna: I am not asking about that. Why was your sir not eating?
Chandu looked down: He didn't eat anything since you left, maam. Fell on the floor when he came back from work last night. (At her worried expression) But don't worry! Now he will be okay, now that you are back, maam (He smiled).
Prerna nodded: Thanks, Chandu.
He nodded, walked away and then walked back: Don't be mad at his temper, maam, sir dil ke bohot acche hai. Mujhe dekhiye! I don't mind him snapping, I have been with sir for 10 years, he takes care of my whole family and he doesn't have to do anything other than pay my salary. But he knows everyone in my family by name. He's a good man, maam, he doesn't express much, but he's good. Sorry, it's not my place to say such things, baas, itna hi maam request tha, don't leave him because he's like that sometimes. Bohot acche hai Bajaj sir. Sorry maam, zyada bol diya (Chandu finished his speech and rushed off awkwardly).
Prena's hands and feet were cold. He didn't eat since she left? Was he worried she wouldn't fulfill her duties as a mother to Kukki just because he was being a jerk? Just as she was hoping they were starting to find common ground and getting to know each other, he had to throw everything to the wind.
Prerna looked at the clock: Kukki needs to eat.
Rishab woke up the next morning feeling much more like himself. He had gone to sleep last night with Kukki on his chest, in his mom's hospital cabin. For the first time in his life, he felt at peace and at once connected to the most beloved people in his life. Life would be perfect if only Prerna was here, but that was asking for too much, he rationalized.
He reached for the soft weight of Kukki and found that he was actually hugging a pillow. Rishab sprang up and looked around frantically.
In the day-bed at the corner of his room, Prerna was fast asleep with Kukki in her arms. When did she get here? At some point in the night, she must have taken Kukki from his lap. His heart filled to the brim looking at their sleeping faces. God had a weird way of teasing him with possibilities that could never happen.
The sun way too warm on her face - was the first thought in Prerna's head.
She instinctively tried to shield herself from the light, but felt some resistance. It made her blink. Oh, the hospital. She looked up to see Rishab looking directly at her, his eyes cloudy and confused. He was looking like a tousled, scruffy, adorable man in his blue hospital attire. But looks can be deceiving.
Prerna wrapped her arms around Kukki instinctively. He was not going to distance her from her daughter.
Rishab: What...
Prerna quickly: I will drop Kukki off to school after she sees you discharged from here, then I will leave.
Rishab's jaw went rigid: As you wish. She has to stay until the pooja is finished though.
Prerna confused: What pooja?
There was a knock on the door.
Rishab cleared his voice: Come in, Mr. Mehra.
Prerna quickly set her clothes and turned a sleeping Kukki toward her.
Mr. Mehra was surprised to see her, but like a true professional, he didn't let on. She sat up, smiled and said namaste. He nodded and smiled, then approached Rishab and handed over a shiny metal slate.
Mr. Mehra: It's done, sir. The men are resetting the main sign as we speak. And this is for the cabin, just as you asked. 30 million U.S. dollars only.
Rishab looked longingly at the metal piece for a long time. He took a shaky breath, holding the slate with unnatural reverence.
Prerna looked on curiously. 30 million U.S. dollars was hardly only. Must have been a huge contract of some sort.
When Rishab looked up, his eyes were red, but he looked the happiest she had ever seen him look.
Rishab: Well done, Mehra, well done! I think you deserve a big raise. We will talk about it later. Have this cabin closed down permanently once I check-out please and I want this placed by the number outside the door.
Mehra proudly inclined in agreement: Jaisa aap kahe.
Rishab thrilled: I need to get ready. Pooja ki saab saman...
Mehra: All ready in the lobby sir. Panditji said, 10:30 am is auspicious.
Rishab smiled: Good, very good. I will be ready by then and so will Kukki (he looked in Prerna's direction). Prerna, can you help me with Kukki?
Prerna confusedly: Um, yes of course. What is this pooja for?
Mehra: Inauguration maam, for the hospital. I will send the nurse to release you sir and also Chandu. It's nearly 10:00 am, I will just go check on the final details.
He left quickly before Prerna could ask her follow-up question.
Prerna addressed Rishab now: What is he talking about? Inauguration? This hospital is the oldest one in Calcutta.
Rishab smiled distantly: And it's mine.
A nurse walked in and started fussing over him before Prerna could say anything. He bought the freakin' hospital? What for? As far as she knew, he didn't specialize in healthcare.
It was that nurse from last night. Prerna recognized her face. The one who liked Rishab's eyelashes so very much. Prerna got up and walked over with Kukki still sleeping in her arms.
Rishab saw the sure nurse drop with the used saline as Prerna came and stood on the other side of the bed. Prerna was looking at the nurse pointedly, not at him. He looked confusedly from one to another.
Prerna: Do be quick about it, please.
Rishab: Let her take her time, Prerna. She's just...
Prerna looked at him warningly. He went silent. He felt the woman tremble as she extracted his needle and then quickly put a band-aid on him. She all but flew out the door with her medical equipment.
Prerna looked down at a puzzled Rishab on the bed looking up at her.
Prerna's eyebrow arched and she said grimly: Cow, indeed.
She went and closed the bathroom door behind her and Kukki.
Women were so odd sometimes. Rishab shook his head and called for Chandu.
When Prerna came out with Kukki ready and awake, even if a bit irritable, she only found Chandu in the room, setting the bed with new sheets and cleaning up.
Chandu: Sir rushed down maam. It's nearly 10:30 am, please hurry maam.
Prerna and Kukki opened the door and almost walked right into a handyman.
Handman grinned: All done, see maam? (He gestured toward his handywork).
Prerna and Kukki looked at the sign, confused.
Kukki tugged at Prerna's saari and signed that she wanted to know what it said.
Prerna was a bit stunned. Kukki tugged again.
Prerna: It says, "Beloved mother. Forever yours, Rishab."
The two of them went downstairs to the lobby and Prerna came face-to-face with the biggest portrait she had ever seen in her life. A beautiful young woman was in the black and white picture, smiling dazzlingly with a gorgeous little boy in her arms.
Tears spilled out her eyes before she could speak or make sense of it all. Rishab was standing below the portrait, his head bent in silence, his back to them as the staff and pundit fussed about getting the last of the setup done.
Prerna wiped her eyes and bent down to ask Kukki: Yeh aapki Dadi hai?
The hospital staff were gathering fast behind them.
Kukki nodded, smiling. She signaled toward the picture and then made a circle around her face and pointed at her Papa: P-a!
Prerna whispered: Papa says you look just like her.
Kukki nodded, pleased.
Prena blinked back happy tears and kissed each palm of her little hands: You do, baby. And that boy is Papa?
Kukki nodded.
Rishab turned around and came and picked up Kukki: You know what to do, right beccha?
Kukki nodded.
Rishab to Prerna: I will be very grateful if you can participate. The pooja is in memory of my mother.
Prerna was still a bit stunned: Uh-yes, yes, of course. I would be honored.
He smiled softly and walked over to the portrait with Kukki in his arms. There was a strange peace about him. A sated peace that took away his generally intense edge today. She had never seen him like this. He was usually on the next thing whenever he struck a big deal like this, but today, he seemed in no rush. Prerna watched from behind as father and daughter started the rites. Shining gold letters along the portrait said: "R. Bajaj Hospital."
Prerna spotted Mr. Mehra beside her and curiosity got the best of her.
Prerna: Mr. Mehra, was...Mr. Bajaj born here?
Mehra: No maam, his mother died here. Actually in the room where sir was maam, so we closed it today. No one will use that room again.
Prerna's heart broke at the revelation. All that must have been on Rishab's mind when she was being cruel to him last evening. Little did she know what significance this place had for him.
Prerna: When did he buy the hospital?
Mehra said simply: Last night, maam.
Prerna: Just like that?
Mehra smiled: Nothing is too much when it comes to his mother, maam. R. Bajaj Infragiant is more than just a brand, she is Mr. Bajaj's purpose.
Prerna softly to herself: She... R. Bajaj is not Rishab Bajaj then.
Mehra laughed knowingly and nodded: People always make that mistake, maam. "R. Bajaj" stands for Roopa Bajaj, not Rishab Bajaj. And R. Bajaj Infragiant belongs to the one and only (he signaled to little Kukki) Sneha Rishab Bajaj. Sir only works for the company as CEO. (Mehra sighed) Every mother and every daughter should be as lucky to have such a son and father. I hope you don't mind me saying this, maam, I am aware I am crossing my line...but you are a very lucky woman. I wouldn't give up on him, Prernaji. There are few men who can live only in the service of honoring the women in his life.
The pooja started.
Prerna prayed silently at the back, pleading to Durga for a way. If only people knew, it was not she who gave up on Rishab like they all seemed to think. Rishab wanted it. He was a great son and father; perhaps once, even a great husband. But she didn't matter to him. Prerna resolved she would find out today who wrote that article to malign her.
She watched as Rishab bowed and touched his head to the bottom frame of his long-dead mother's picture and then kissed it. Kukki watched her dad and followed. He smiled sadly and messed up her hair.
All the staff of the hospital were there to participate in the quick inauguration, or rather, re-inauguration and pooja. The hospital administrator, an older gentleman by the name of Dr. Chokroborty approached Rishab after the pooja, welcoming him as the new sole shareholder of the hospital on behalf of the staff.
Prerna took a hold of Kukki and stood patiently as they talked. Kukki still needed to say bye to her Papa before they left for school.
Rishab: Ah, Chokroborty, just the man I was looking for...how are you?
Dr. Chokroborty: Good good, sir, it's an honor to meet you. It's Dr. Chokroborty, actually, sir.
Rishab: But we have already met, Chokroborty.
Dr. Chokroborty taken aback: No sir, I would remember if I met a hasti such as yourself, sir. This is the first time.
Rishab's look turned cold: Wrong. Chokroborty.
Prerna watched warily now. Something was not right. She knew Rishab long enough to know he was dead serious and deliberately avoiding using "Dr." ahead of this man's name.
Dr. Chokroborty smiled, uncertain of contradicting the new boss.
Rishab coldly and deliberately: Twenty years ago. We were right in this lobby, I begged you, offered to polish your shoes for you for the rest of my life in exchange for the cure. You recognize her (he pointed toward the picture)? She died here because you wouldn't let the doctors under you administer her chemo. (Dr. Chokroborty's face turned ashen) We couldn't afford it, so you let her die, violating your Hippocratic oath to save every patient's life. (There was a long pause) All for money. I have all the wealth to waste now, but I don't have her. Thanks to you. How many patients did you leave for dead, Chokroborty?
Dr. Chokroborty stuttered: Sir, I didn't know. You are right to be upset, but this is a private hospital.
Rishab casually finished: Where poor patients will be treated for free. You are fired, Chokroborty. And your license is canceled. Get out before I do worse.
Rishab dismissed him and turned away.
The room was dead silent now as a shamed Dr. Chokroborty left the lobby. People looked at each other, swallowing hard, all worried for their fates.
Prerna looked chidingly at Rishab. He looked away, he was not going to be guilt-ed today.
Rishab announced to the whole lobby: Did everyone hear what I just said? No one is turned away from here. If you want to work at R. Bajaj Hospital, you honor your duties to save a life first. Is that clear?
"Yes, sir," they said in unison.
Rishab: Good. Back to work.
They shuffled out.
Rishab approached Prerna now, his eyes shining in defiance and pride: I have always dreamed of doing that. I don't want to hear about how cruel I am.
She instinctively reached for his cheek without thinking - to comfort him. He jumped a little in surprise, looking at her eyes quizzically.
Prena traced his face with both hands. This intense, simmering rage in him made so much sense now.
Prerna: Oh, Rishab.
Before she knew, she pulled her to him and hugged him tight, trying in her way to comfort him. She could feel his heartbeat, strong and quick. He was tense, he was hesitant of her, but she did not care and held him tighter to herself.
Kukki came and hugged him around the leg. Prena finally felt Rishab relax.
