Film: Chhoti si baat (1975)

It has been two weeks since Jai had gone Goa for one of his business trips and here Bani had been missing him terribly. After the visit from Mt. Abu there was no time for Jai even to breath. One week holiday had cost him a lot. Morning he would leave for office before any one would have woken up and would come home late at night. Bani tried so many times to wait for him for dinner but she could never keep her eyes open after 11 pm. For two days she slept empty stomach and after that Jai gave Masi strict order not to let Bani wait for him. She could hardly see him. Sometime Bani felt that he was avoiding her and intentionally staying whole day at office.

One fine evening without telling anyone he went Goa saying it was urgent. After that he have called just twice or thrice saying that he has reached Goa well and other time to Adi abt Businesss problem. Its two weeks since she has last seen him, heard his voice but has felt his presence in every corner of her room which made her miss him even more. Today he is coming and she can't wait till evening. Actually his flight was landing at 12 noon but he is going directly to office and will only come at evening.

The shrill ring of the bell made her aware of arrivel of Jai. Bani hurriedly ran to open the door but to her disappointment tony had already opened the door and Jai was on the arms of masi.

'Kitna dubla hogaya mera munna. Tu kuch khata nahin tha kya ?' asked masi inspecting his face from all side.

'khata tha masi lekin aapke haatho jaise nahin tha isilye man nahin karta tha khaneko'

'jhut mat bol din bhar kaam hoga isiliye nahin khaya'

'Masi gussa kyu karti ho ab aap ka munna aagaya na khila khila ke mota banadena' chirped aditya in.

'Masi hame bhi to milne dijiye'said jigyasa and slowly slowly all of the family member hugged him and asked abt him.

'Are Bani kaha hain. Sab din to Jai jai karti thi ab dikhae nahin de rahin hain' said masi looking al direction.

'Wo dekho masi waha hain bani mami' said anu looking at Bani who was at the bottom of stair watching all of them but her eyes were only on jai.

At that point Jai looked at Bai who was staring at hin intently but as he looked at her she turned around and ran back to her room.

'Bani' shouted Jai but she was already gone.

'Jao bacchu hum sab ko to jawab nahin dena padta lekin ab biwi ko kaise manaoge' teased Adi whish made everyone laugh. Jai sighed and went to his room. As he entered the room Bani was arranging the clothes in the cupboard facing other side.

'Bani Itne din baad aaya hoon ekbaar hi bhi nahin kahogi bhalehi gale nahin lagana' She didn't respond anything rather keep on arraning the clothes.

'Accha baba sorry lekin main busy tha na'

'ek phone to kar sakte the' came her quivered voice on preventing herself from crying.

'Wo time hi nahin mila. Bohut busy tha ek ke baad ek meeting thi. Ghar phone kiya to tum nahi thi'

'lekin mujhe to kisine nahin kaha?'

'Wo maine hi tony ko kaha tha nahin bataneko warna tum phone ka intazaar karti aur mujhe pata nahin tha ki main kab phone karta'

'Phir bhi' bani refuse to turn back.

'Bola na sorry ab kya karu? Phir se nahin karunga'

'sacchi'

'Sacchi'

The word had only left his voice Bani turned back and ran to him and hugged him tight. Jai hugged her back.

'Bani ro rahi ho?' Bani nodded her head negatively.

'Come on show me ur face' Bani was not letting him see her face but Jai was stronger. Tears stained face of Bani pierced his heart but he has to be strong. May be Bani treated Jai as only her friend but today there is quite change in their relationship, her emotions and Jai was quite aware of it and thought to himself 'ya she was right.'

Sorry guys that it is short. I am in some what hurry so cant write long. Thought of posting tomorrow a longer but again thought why not today a bit and tomorrow another part. Hope I made write decision and also that u guys liked today's update. Thankssssssss.😛

With the piersing light of sun Bani woke up rubbing her eyes. She yawned and looked for Jai but he was nowhere to be seen.

"Kaha chale gae? Sayad bathroom main honge" but to her disappointment he was not there. "Sayad study main ho. Tab tak main nahalu" thinking she went to shower. 40 minuts later she came downstairs searching Jai as he was not in the study as well. She saw tony busy giving orders to cook abt breakfast.

"Tony tum ne Mr. Walia ko dekha? Subha se nahin dikh rahe he."

"Ha mam wo to subah hi office chale gaye"

"subah hi chle gae mujhe bina kahe. Acha wo sab chhodo unho ne breakfast kiya?"

"Nahi mam. Unho ne kaha wo office main hi kha lenge"

"Thik hain tum jao breakfast tayar karo aaj unke lie main ghar se hi lunch le jaungi"

"yes mam" saying that he went back to his work leaving bani on her thoughts."kal hi to aae hain aur phir se kaam. Thik se mila bhi nahin. Kal to ate hi so gaye aur aaj subah bina batae hi chale gaye"

"Good afternoon mam, hello mam," Bani replied to all the office staff smiling and nodding her head.

"Anita Mr. Walia free hain. Unso kaho main aae hoo" said Bani to Anita, Jai's secretary.

"yes mam" and she dialed to Jai.

"Sorry mam sir thoda busy hain meeting main aap ko room main intazaar karne ko kaha hain"

"thik hain main jati hu to phir."

"aap ko kuch chahiye mam"

"o don't u worry anita tum apna kaam karo main andar thik hoon.

Nearly after 20 mintes Jai entered the roon pulling his tie down.

"Ha bani bola kaise aana huwa"

"o aap aagae maine to socha aap bahut hi busy hain aur jaldi nahin aa paenge"

"nahin abhi sirf 10 minutes ka break phir meeting hogi. Tum kaho"

"wo aap subah hi nikalgae aur breakfast bhi nahin kiya to isliye socha ki lunch lau aap ke liye"

"Bani tum kiyu pareshan hoti ho main khaleta"

"nahin aesi baat nahin hain. ghar me bore bhi ho ra hi thi isiliye"

"thik hain tum lunch rakhdo main khalunga. Thank u. Main aaj bahut busy hoo" Jai said smiling as if indicating her to leave and Bani wasn't that dumb not to understand it.

"Acha to main chalti hoon. Sam ko milte hain" she was abt to leave when

Bani turned and went out of the room disappointed and hurt. She had thought after so many days they would have lunch together and spend some quality but Jai has no time for her. She was lost in her thoughts when

"mam aap itni jaldi jaa rahe hain. Sir to abhi aae he na" said anita.

Bani smiled at anita and said "ha. Unko lunch dena tha de aae. Unka abhi dusra meeting bhi to ha na"

"dusra meeting?" asked anita surprised "lekin sir ka to agle do ghante tak koi important meeting nahin hain"

"Mr. walia ne mujhse phir jit kiu bola" thought bani

"Sayad koi kaam hoga isiliye"

"lekin mam"

"chodo na anita ab is bat par discuss kar ne se kya faida. Main chalti hoo."

"Thik hain mam. Bye. Phir aaeye ga"

"bye" said bani and went.

Jai was looking at Bani getting into the car from his windoe. What must Bani be thinking that why I sent her home. Jai was thinking to himself as he had heard Anita and Bani talking and Anita was true. He has no important things to do and there was also no need for Bani to wait him for those twenty minutes.

Party was going on full swing. Everyone was enjoyin themselves. Jai was happily chatting with his old friends, businees associates and here was Bani was all alone with his family members looking at him. He had not even come home so Bani had to come to party without him. Earlier he had introduced her to his friends and associates but after sometime had left as he got busy hostinh the party. He was chatting and laughing quite enjoyin the party not once bothered about Bani.

"Bani. Bani beta kaha khogae" asked Masi shaking bani out of her reverie.

"Huh?"

"kya soch rahi hain. Kab se jai tujhe bula raha he"

"kuch.. kuch nahin masi bas ese hi"said Bani and saw Jai signalling Bani to come.

"Main unke paas jati hoo masi"

"aao Bani inse mile ho. Ye hain meri college ki friend Roshni chopra aur ab Mrs. Roshni Chopra Sablok aur umke pati mera yaar Tarun Sablok"

Bani did namaste to both couple but Roshni took her in a hug and kissed her cheeks.

"Hi Bani. Wow Jai tum hari biwi to bohut khubsoorat hain"

"Khubsoorat to hogi hi aakhir biwi kiski hain" said Jai

"Mere Dost ki" chirped Tarun in and they all starting laughing.

"Bani hum tino saath main college padhte the. Tabhi se dost hain. Hamari saadi me ye log honeymoon par gae the isliye nahin aa pae"

"Bhabi aapko Jai tang to nahin karta warna bata dena hum iska acha khabar lunge kyu Roshni" said Tarun

"Ha bilkul"

"Bani main tumhe pareshan karta hoon. Bolo to?"asked Jai to Bani. Now all three attention turned to her and she nervously nodded her head in denial.

"Wow mera favourite song chalo Tarun dance karte hain. Tum bhi aao Jai apne biwi ke saath"

"Nahin tum log jao main abhi thoda busy ho. Mere kuch associates aane wale hain"

"Jai tum abhi bhi waise ke waise ho bore" said Roshni making face at him.

"Aur tum abhi bhi waisi hi ho sapne main dubi huwi" repied Jai.

On his reply Roshni simply threw her hair back and pulled Tarun to dance floor with her. Jai shaking his jead went to bar leaving Bani to herself. Tarun and Roshni were totally immersed on each other, so much love between them. Any one can see love in them. Bani was just looking at them and at Jai time to time but Jai seem to be totally oblivious to Bani which was piercing her heart in every possible way.
