Part 12

after finishing his call with Meera, Jai called Mohan " Hi Mohan, remember I mentioned about working on the Miami deal together?"

" Yes...I do, but wasn't sure if you were still interested. What about it?" replied a surpirsed Mohan

" Well, Adam Smith, the financer I met in Miami is here and wants to meet you before finalising the terms." informed Jai.

" Ok, when do we meet him?" enquired Mohan, beginning to relax

" Tonight , actually he just got in this morning and is wants to wrap this up before going to Japan tomorrow night. I am taking him home for dinner, why don't you join us...say about 7?" said Jai looking at Adam nod. They didn't want to give Mohan and Meera anytime to plan anything, before they got the kids out of Meera's reach.

" Ok, I'll see you then." Mohan was beginning to think that Meera probably over reacted. Jai did not sound like a Man who had anything other than business on his mind.

Jai and Adam smiled at each other. Adam wanted to meet Mohan and evaluate him to see how much of a threat he posed. Then decide on how to take it further. They knew they had to be careful and think on their feet.

When Jai's car pulled into Walia Mansion at a few minutes passed 7 he was pleased to note that Mohan was already there as were the other memebers of the family.

Ganaga came running to Jai " Hi, Papa! where have you been all day, I missed you"

" I am sorry sweetheart, I was very busy at work today, what have you been upto, I hope you didn't trouble your choti ma too much. Come meet Mr. Smith, he has come from the US and has been wanting to meet Krishna and you." said Jai pulling Ganga close to him and turning to Adam.

" Hello, young lady, I see you are even prettier than what your daddy says." Adam smiled at Ganga and extended a brightly wrapped package to her.

Ganga looked towards Jai for approval and then shyly accepted the gift, " Thank you" and ran off to show the gift to her Dadi and Vidya.

" Come Adam I will introduce you to my family." Jai motioned Adam to follow him.

" My wife Meera, her brother and our partner in the new venture Mohan Khandelwal, my aunt " gradually he introduced Adam to every one, going to Nattu at the end " and last , my brother Nachiket and in his arms is my little daughter krishna, Nattu he is Mr. Adam Smith you and Ranveer will be working with him and Mohan on this project."

As Adam got talking with Mohan and Ranveer, Jai walked to Meera " Sorry about he short notice, but Adam is here only for tonight and we need to get him on board for the project to work. Can you send in some snacks to the study, I am taking Adam and Mohan for a drink, and we will have dinner around 8.30."

"Sure, btw Jai where were you during Lunch, Ganga wanted to go out and I had called you." Asked Meera.

" I was with Adam, oh and at lunch I had gone to meet Nurse Sharma, regarding Ganga's check up tomorrow." he said casually as he walked off.

By the time the men came down , Mohan was smiling, he and Ranveer would fly to Japan and finalise the deal with Adam there itself. It was inconveninent but Adam was not willing to stay on anymore.

Jai, Adam and Nattu shared a look confirming that they were on course. Jai couldn't wait to call Bani, but stopped himself knowing he couldn't take any chances now.

Jai excused himself to see the kids before they retired. While Meera took Adam on a tour of the house.

After dinner Jai got up to drop Adam, politely declining Mohan's offer to do the needful " No Mohan, you need to pack, I feel guitly springing this on you at such short notice, if it weren't for Ganga's appointment I would have gone myself."

As they left, Mohan had a quick word with Meera on not doing anything till he got back. He promised he will take care of things in his own way if Jai was cheating on her. " What do you mean if?" asked Meera.

" I just think that you maybe reading too much into it, I was observing Jai closely he seemed quite content to be at home. Are u sure aren't over reacting. Anyways, like I said don't do anything till I get back, we have to be very careful.Go and rest, I will call you before I leave for Japan" saying he left.

Jai and Adam reached home to find Bani and Pushkar pacing the lawn. Adam took Pushkar inside giving some privacy to Jai and Bani.

" Why aren't you sleeping yet?" asked Jai taking Bani in his arms.

Not hearing a reply, he tried to pull back, but Bani wasn't willing to let go.

" Bani, how many time have I told you not to worry so much. Everything is under control, Mohan and Ranveer are heading out to Japan tomorrow."

" But what if he suspects something and changes his plans....especially when he realises Adam is not on the flight." said a worried Bani.

" I have it covered, Adam will loose his passport at the airport, and then ask Mohan and Ranveer to continue, he will take the next flight after getting duplicate documents from his embassy. Adam's men are already in Japan and will keep Mohan occupied." said Jai, " Don't worry, Adam is the best there is and he will not take any chances."

" You know I think our Ganga has had her first crush today, she was completely speechless around Adam, I have never seen her so tongue tied before. You should have seen her trying to hide behind me while Adam tried to talk to her." broke off Jai thinking how fast his daughter was growing up.

" She is just 7 yrs old Jai but I am not surprised because she takes after you!" said Bani and both of them started laughing.

" You should go now, its getting late now"

" In a minute Bani, atleast give me a proper goodnight."

" Goodnight....now go!" she said trying hard not to smile.

" Yeah, like I am going to leave with that" said Jai and moved in closer to her.

It was after half an hour that Jai entered Walia Mansion, to find Meera waiting for him and Rano trying to pacify a crying Krishna.

" Here, Rano I'll take her, you need to get some rest." said Jai moving forward to take Krishna in his arms.

" Its ok Jai, you go on and rest I will take care of Krishna" Meera interrupted.

" Goodnight Rano, we'll see u in the morning. Meera Chalen?" and he walked towards his room, leaving Meera to follow with Krishna.

" Meera, just give me 5 minutes I'll get a quick shower and then I will take Krishna. You must be tired after taking care of them the whole day and then the dinner at such short notice." he said moving towards the bathroom.

" No Jai, its ok, you must be tired too...and I am happy to take care of the children . No mother ever gets tired by taking care of her children." She smiled sweetly at him, thinking maybe this was one way to get him back.

To hide his disgust at her fake care Jai walked into the bathroom...." How could I have been so blind and not see through her act, she is so fake....too damn sweet and submissive to be normal" thought Jai.

He came out to see Meera rocking Krishna to sleep. He walked to her and gently took Krishna, signing to Meera to go and change.

By the time Meera stepped out she found father and daughter sleeping, with Krishna resting on Jai's chest.

" Oh well, whats one more night, when I have waited so long" she thought while switching off the lights and going to sleep.

When she woke up in the morning it was to find a note on her bedside table.

" You looked like you needed to sleep in, so didn't have the heart to wake you. I am taking the kids for their checkup. Will see you in the evening.

I am taking Rano with me as Krishna needs her shots today.

As Jai was driving Rano and the kids towards his old house to pick up Bani, both he and Rano were thinking about what happened this morning.

" Rano, sorry to wake you up so early but we need to talk before the others wake up. Meet me on the terrace in five minutes, I'll settle krishna in the nursery and join you." Jai told a startled Rano at 6 this morning.

" Rano, you need to listen very carefully to what I have to say but before that you have to promise me that you will control your emotions and not let a soul know what I am about to tell you." said Jai looking very grim.

" Please Mr. Walia, just tell me what it is ...you are scaring me. Is Ganga ok, is this about her check up today?" questioned a worried Rano.

" Relax, Ganga is fine. This is about your Di, I found her and Atharva." said Jai.

" WHAT? when , how, why didn't you tell me...take me to her now!" started Rano.

" Rano, Rano calm down and listen to what I have to tell you. I am sorry for keeping you in the dark for so long but I had no choice" said Jai and then went on to tell her what had happened the night Bani went missing.

" You mean she was in front of me all this time and you guys didn't think that I should know?" said Rano in between tears. She didn't know whether she should just hug him for the good news or be angry and break his head for keeping this from her.

" We are sorry Rano, but we couldn't take a chance with Meera so close to you all the time. We lost so much already and I am not willing to lose you or anyone any more." replied Jai, trying hard to control his tears.

Rano hugged him as both of them tried to comfort each other.

She was jolted out of her thoughts as Jai pulled the car in front of the old house." Papa why are we here?" Ganga was the first one to break the silence in the car.

" Beta, we ware here to pick up Neeta Aunty and her son, they are coming to the hospital with us." replied Jai as he helped her out of the car.

Bani was anxiously waiting for them....when Rano walked into the house.

Part 14

There was a tense silence as both sisters stared at each other too overwelhmed to say anything.

The silence was broken by Ganga " Neeta Aunty, how are you, why didn't you come to visit me for so many days...you know I can start school soon" and she hugged Bani." Aunty papa said you have a son...you didn't tell me ...am I not your favourite person anymore?"

" Ganga give her a breather to atleast reply" interrupted Jai

" Let me look at you...and ofcourse you are my favourite person, you are my angel right?" said Bani hugging and taking Ganga to the Nursery " Come meet my son while I catch up with Rano"

" Pushkar uncle what are you doing here? why didn't you tell me you are here" She exclaimed on seeing Pushkar in the Nursery

" Hi Ganga, I just came in this morning and Jai sir said you were coming here so I came here, I didn't want to wait for you at home" he replied and took Ganga from Bani.

Rano and Bani had a teary reunion." I hate to interrupt you both, but we need to discuss a few things before Ganga comes" said Jai " we can't tell her anything yet....you do understand Bani"

" Ji, I can wait a little longer, I just want this to get over"

" Rano, you and Pushkar will take the Kids and move to Mount Abu, Pia is already there so don't worry about anything. Adam's men have secured the place and they will be there with you. As soon as we have cleared things here, we will join you there" said Jai

" But what will you tell the others" asked Rano

" Just that Pia is very unwell and she wanted to meet you guys , Pushkar was here and you have taken the kids to meet her in Mauritius" replied Jai.

" But ...." started Bani to be stopped by Jai " Pushkar's housekeeper knows how to handle any calls, anyways people will only call your mobiles which can be answered from Mt.Abu and no one will be anywiser."

" Ok now let's go to the hospital, I want the doctor to give an all clear to Ganga before you leave. Rano will you and Puskhar be able to take care of Krishna and Atharva, while Bani and I take Ganga to the hospital?" enquired Jai

" Sure, Mr. Walia, just be careful." replied Rano

Jai and Bani took Ganga to the hospital and then to buy a few essential things for the trip. " Ganga, you were complaining that you are getting bored sitting at home. How about a little vacation?" asked Jai

" Vacation, wow, where are we going? Can Neeta Aunty and her baby come too...please"

" Baby, Neeta Aunty and I have some work to finish, how about you go with Rano Massi, Pushkar, Krishnad and Neeta Aunty's baby to Mt. Abu and we will join you very soon" replied Jai

They weren't prepared for Ganga's reaction, she broke into tears and clung to Jai, not looking up " Beta kya hua? are u ok, why are u crying?" asked a worried Jai

" I dont want to go to that bad place, we lost Mummy and Atharva there...I never want to go there...I dont want anyone to go there ever." she continued sobbing, Jai looked up to see Bani was crying too.

Cursing himself for not anticipating this reaction, Jai decided to give it one more shot, if she was still so upset he would think of something else.

" Ganga we will look for Mummy again , I am sure we will find her and Atharva, I promise. I need you to go with Puskar and Rano and start looking ...I promise I will be there in two days and we will find Mummy and Atahrva"

" Really, if I go there Mummy will come back and live with us for ever?" she asked.

" Yes!"
