Though Bani never talked a lot, and he preferred to be silent all the times, he discovered a lot of things about her. Mr Walia could judge people without hearing a word from them, a quality that made him the best businessman, a quality that made him THE Jai Walia.

Part 7
Three weeks had passed by since Bani started working as Mr. Walia's PA. She never mentioned his wife again. Mr. Walia was pleasantly surprised by this young girl. Although she was nervous and somewhat intimidated by her boss, Bani's work was always amazing. She managed his schedule, tasks and his terrible temper with great ease and a smile, and never gave her boss a reason to complain. Mr.Walia was very impressed by her and her work, but never really told her. He was afraid Bani would not take her work as seriously again.
Mr. Walia was having a terrible temper again and was blasting everybody of when he called Bani in to his office.
'Bani, book two tickets to London immediately and inform those morons in finance to prepare a report and explain how they could make such foolish mistakes, will you!' He shouted at her.
Bani flinched slightly hearing what he called the staff in the finance department, but corrected herself immediately.
'Ji, Mr. Walia. anything else?' 'Make sure everything is prepared for my stay in London and tell Adi to come with me. And don't he dare refuse me otherwise I will chop his head off, you tell him that. Itne dino se patah nahin yahaan sab kya kar rahe the. In logon ko sone ke liye salary deta hoon. ' He said even louder.
'Ji Mr. Walia. when will you be going? 'What kind of a question is that Ms. Dixit! As soon as possible! And get the arrangements done, NOW!' Bani practically ran out of his office. He immediately felt guilty for shouting at her, but tried to shrug the feeling of.
Half an hour later Bani knocked at Mr. Walia's door.
'Mr. Walia, I have made all the arrangements. Your flight is leaving tonight at nine. The hotel asked if you would like to have your regular room, or a different one? '
'The hotel staff has gone out of their mind. I never change my room and they know that. Idiots.' He replied.
Bani tried really hard not to laugh. Right now Mr. Walia reminded her a lot of Rano when she was eight years old. Rano at that age, was going thought the phase where everything and everyone was an idiot.
'uhmm ………….Mr. Walia, I am just waiting for the meetings in London to be confirmed. After that you schedule will be ready in an hour. I am sorting out the files you will be needing in London and I'll give it to Adi Uncle. Uhmmm….. Adi Uncle called to say he will meet you directly at the airport at 7.30. Uhm…….Is there anything else I can do?' Bani asked hesitantly.
'Yes Bani, call Rajesh (his butler) and ask him to pack a suitcase for me. 'Ji Mr. Walia. Abhi karti hoon. Bani checked everything twice before she left for home at five. She wanted to give Adi Uncle all the files and make sure he packed all the things he would require in London because Jigyasa was terrible in packing and so was Aditya.
When she entered the mansion she noticed that all the family members were a bit worried.
Aditya walked up to Bani and said.
'Bani I want a favour from you, please don't refuse. Bani got nervous. Aditya explained that he had to go to Goa, because a company they had a deal with is now breaking their contract. He just had to go to Goa, but it was equally important for someone to go with Mr. Walia. Because Bani knew a lot about the deals she could help her boss. Aditya did not want to hear any excuse and he already had made all the arrangements. Even Mr. Walia was informed. There was no option left. Bani went to London with Mr. Walia.
Bani was shocked when she arrived at the hotel. She thought she booked a room. Knowing Mr. Walia's status she did not expect a mere hotel room, but what she saw was more then she could ever imagine. It was an apartment on the top floor of the hotel. It had two bedrooms with attached bathroom, a kitchen, a study and living area and a mind-blowing view of the city. She did not have a lot of time to enjoy all the luxuries because the first two days were filled with meetings, meetings and a lot more………….meetings.The only thing discussed between them were meetings……..and files.
Bani was glad, because it was a safe topic for her. She could not blunder a lot when they would discuss work. Finally, after four days she got some time of for herself. The only thing Bani wanted to do was have dinner and hit her bed. She called home to make sure everything is fine and decided to order something and have a nap before she had to leave with Mr. Walia for the last meeting in the evening. Tomorrow they would leave for India.
She was glad to go home because she noticed that Mr. Walia was very disturbed for the past two days. She thought is had something to do with the workload and the stress but she was not sure.
Before Bani could pick up the phone to order room service Mr. Walia entered the living area
'Bani are you ready? I thought we could have something to eat in the restaurant.' 'Uhmmmmm….. sure Mr. Walia, Can I have two minutes to get ready?' Saying no to her boss was not Bani's strongest point.
Bani changed in a simple salwaar suit with some sandals. It was a welcome change for her after wearing formal business suits and boots for the passed so many days. Mr. Walia wasn't in the room. He had left her a note saying he would meet her in the restaurant.
Mr. Walia was sitting at his favourite table near the windows. The table was angled such, that he could see everything happening outside, but nobody outside could look at him in the restaurant.
'Just like my life' he thought. He would look after everybody he loved, but was there someone who looked after him?
Suddenly he heard the sweet sound he heard the three years back. The same sound he heard whenever he would visit the Walia Mansion.
Cham, cham, cham, cham. He turned his head around to find Bani approaching him, with a piece of paper in her hands.
'Mr. Walia, the staff at the reception asked me to give you this message. Uhmmm…….someone left it there for you fifteen minutes ago. Bani gave him the folded paper. He read it. His face lost colour. Bani noticed the cold look in his eyes. The same look he had when she mentioned his wife a few weeks back. His hand that was holding the paper turned into a fist.
'Mr Walia, is everything ok? Is something wrong? Mr. Walia! Mr. Walia!' He looked up at her, as if he totally had forgotten about her and was now figuring out what they were doing here.
'Bani I have to go.' Edited by RANJANA_RRJ - 17 years ago
