Part Eight-A
Jigs nervously glanced at the door before her. She was standing outside the office of the most senior professor of the medical college she reads in. he is also supposed to be the most experienced doctor of Bangladesh.
Normally, he won't meet with a student like this. But Jigs was hopeful. After all, everyone says that Medical College hasn't experienced such a brilliant student like her in ages.
Her assumption was right. She was called inside. Dr. Rahman was 58 years old. But he was fit as a 25 years old young man. His white hair was neatly combed and he's got such a personality that you couldn't help but respect him.
Dr. Rahman was confused to see her, "Ms, Walia, forgive my ignorance, but I haven't expected you here."
"Sir, I- erm- I.."
"Relax dear, I don't bite. Have a seat. Are you having any problems with the teachers or other students or grades..?"
"Sir, it's not like this. I- actually I have come here to ask you a favour."
"hmm, I'll try if it is within my abilty, may I know what kind of favor?"
"Sir, my brother had a minor accident and I took him to hospital. They are not giving any convincing description of his condition. They are telling that he's got serious problem. they're showing that the xray of his head has got a unrecognizable dot on it.
On the same time they've confirmed it's not tumour. They told that it's abnormal case. Uhmm, sir, they told my father that this is the cause of mutated cell growth. But as far as I can remember, mutated cell growth is the primary stage of cancer."
"interesting, have you got the copy of x-ray?"
"Sir I've got it here." Said Jigs as she handed the x-ray report to Dr. Rahman.
Dr Rahman examined it carefully and a deep frown appeared in his face. "which doctor is handling his case?"
"uhm, Dr Islam, of Holy Family Hospital."
"Miss Walia, do you mind if I go and pay your brother a visit?"
"not at all sir, but will he be alright?"
"I'm sorry but I don't want to comment before checking him." He gave Jigs a reassuring smile.

Jai was very much surprised to see his Dad. He was still in his uniform. Jai didn't know from which day his Dad started feeling this concerned for him that he came direct from work. Well, he didn't think much, his head wasn't clear.
"Dad? What are you doing here?"
"Why, a father can't come to see his sick son?"
"Normal fathers do, but you never did for me."
"Look Jai, you might think that I don't love you or don't care for you. But it is not possible. After all, you are my son. Parents always love their children, no matter what."
"I must say, you've got a funny way to show it Dad. Can you remember last time I felt sick? You can't. do you know which blood group I belong to? You don't. when I was 12, I had serious typhoid, I was sick for about 15 days. I can't remember you have paid a visit to my room once.
Then what change happened today? Is it like this that I'm not going to be there anymore and you feel like confessing to your son that you care for him before I die?"
"Jai, it's not like this. If you tell this confessing, then let me confess. Don't speak between words."
Jai didn't seemed too interested but didn't argue either. His Dad sighed as he saw pure hatred for him on his son's eyes.
"Jai, you think that I don't love you, but that's not true. I love you as much as I love my other children. It's just like that I never appreciated the way you lead your life. And you never practically paid any attention to my views. You have always done what you felt like doing. Have I ever stopped you, Jai? I haven't.
You probably don't know what I felt when you directly said that you don't want to join army, that was hard for me. My whole family was army minded. But I haven't stopped you, I let you do what you want. Trust me, if it was your brother in your place, I would've slapped him straight."
Uday stopped to take a breath. "I've always respected your thoughts, I've never thought the same as you, but let you do whatever you please. Cause I know that you won't disappoint me. I've guided my elder children, cause I felt they needed me as guidelines. But about you, I never felt like this. I knew that you are enough for yourself.
Probably, that's why there's a distant between us. It's never like that I don't love you like my other children. Sometimes, I feel like I love you more than the others. I - er- thought you should know this."
Jai gave a faint smile, "that means I was right Dad? I'm gonna die soon?"
Uday's face hardened. He took few steps towards Jai and ran a hand through his hair, "You're certainly going to die Jai, but not before you have been happily married for some 30/40 years and have got at least 5 grandchildren."
Jai smiled weakly, "Joking with your soon to be dead son is not an acceptable thing Dad."

Pri lazily walked towards the Dixit's dining space. The house was quiet than usual. The regular bickering and screaming of Sahil and Shiv was not heard. The only sound was on the kitchen. Pri approached and suddenly stopped.
Bani was singing as she was making coffee. Pri has never heard Bani sing before. She couldn't help but wondering how much qualities that girl has got still hidden. Her voice was mesmerizing. Pri stood leaning with the door, listening. Bani didn't notice her friend.
Wise men say, only fools rush in
But I can't help falling in love with you
Shall I stay?
Would it be a sin?
If I, I can't help falling in love with you
Like a river flows, surely to the sea
Darling so it goes, some things are meant to be
Take my hand, take my whole life too
For I, I can't help falling in love with you
Like a river flows, surely to the sea
Darling so it goes, some things are meant to be
Take my hand, take my whole life too
For I, I can't help falling in love with you
No I, I can't help falling in love with you
"I Can smell love in the air." Said Pri at last as she pretended to screw her nose.
"Do you? I can only smell coffee." Said Bani playfully. "it's the time to get up, lazybum? Have some breakfast."
"Where is everyone?" asked Pri as she buttered a toast.
"Hmm, Chachi has gone to her Mayka with the two devils and Chacha is on work."
"Good, we can turn your house upside down in the meanwhile." Suggested Pri.
"No, don't even try that. Tonight, you'll be gone and Chacha-chachi will come back to find a messed up house and me and I'm dead."
"Dead my foot, your uncle aunty loves you too much to kill you. Ok no problem, if you want to die, I'm stand by to kill you. You wicked girl, trying to steal my Hrittik from me."
"Excuse me? Your Hrittik? When did he became yours? Don't be over excited, understand? Hrittik is my forever. " Bani showed Pri her tounge and went to her bedroom. Pri followed.
"Bad girl, always attempting to steal my man away from me. What kind of best friend are you of me?" Pri adjusted herself on her favorite spot, on top of Bani's table.
"Oh yeah? I don't steal anyone's man. You are trying to steal my hero from me." Bani hugged a teddy bear close to herself.
"Yeah you do, you said you like Tom Cruise, I do so. I used to like Brad Pitt and you said you do too. You took both of them from me. And now it's Hrittik? Go away."
"when I took Tom Cruise or Brad Pitt from you?" asked Bani confusedly.
"You took their pictures stupid."
"Oh, you can't spare two men for your best friend, huh? And what's my fault that you end up liking the same man I like?" complained Bani.
"it's not only matter of two, there are more." Said Pri.
"Who?" demanded Bani.
Pri scratched her head unable to find anyone's name and shrugged. Bani smirked and that caused Pri to attack her. Soon, both the best friend were fighting with pillows, forgetting their promise of not making the house a mess.
Well, Pri couldn't answer Bani's question that who else she has snatched away from her. Poor girl, she doesn't know that her best friend has snatched her real love from her. Poor Bani! She doesn't know that she and her best friend have ended up liking the same man yet again.
