Chapter 9

Bani's mind was wondering what had happened years ago then massi called her to be apart of the pooja they are going to have tomorrow in the house. She again saw Jigyasa though Bani tried to talk to her she just avoided her and Anu with whom she had become slightly friendlier also just backed away because of the morning fiasco. Only Sahil, dadi and massi talked with her. Adi and Jai were no were to be seen. She tried to contact Pushkar but his mobile was not reachable on the whole she went to bed that night with an uneasy feeling as to how she would adjust into the Walia family.

Next day morning Adi had come up quite early she was still in bed. Adi asks the maid for her and the maid goes to call her. Bani thinking it was Jai.
Bani: Mr. Walia don't you ever sleep and why do you always keep checking on me I'm not a kid.
Adi: It's not Jai sorry to wake you up but I just wanted to clear the air. I know Jai spoke to you but he also doesn't know the full story.
Bani: Adi uncle sorry I thought it was Mr. Walia he always keeps checking on me when ever we go out to see if I eat right go to bed on time and remarks that I don't want Adi eating my head off saying that I make you work too much
Adi: I never knew that Jai took so much interest in you and though I did mention that he took you for granted.
Bani: Well that now also he does. It's just the way he is.
Adi: How come you understand him better than anyone else? I hope that you two have a good marriage or I would be breaking the only promise to your mother.
Bani felt it was the best time to ask Adi uncle what happened years ago. Uncle if you don't mind asking yesterday Mr. Walia said that you and mother were practically family but how.

Adi: Well your mother and I grew up together. Your grandfather and my father were business partners. All along the family had thought that we would get married and the business would stay in the family. I was your mothers best friend and she looked up to me as a brother. Then I moved to Bombay to continue with my studies and expand the business were I met up with Jai and your mother soon became friends with Nishikanth as there was no one in the house she could relate to. Nishikanth was like a free bird and that was something new to your mother who was brought up in a conservative environment and the only person whom she interacted was me so at first I thought it was just an infatuation on her part. Then one vacation when I came down she told me that she had planned to get married to him and she would not mind going against her family. That's when I realized she was serious about it. The rest I think you know as your father he didn't come form the same community nor he was from the same social status hence they eloped and got married and your grandfather disowned his own daughter and I got the whole business too.
Bani: If my mother and you were like brothers why does Jigyasa aunty doubt you so much?
Adi: Well you could say it was big misunderstanding on her part.
Bani: Without fire there wouldn't be smoke so what is it uncle.
Adi: takes a deep breath and says you are as inquisitive as Jai. Well after your mother got married I realized may be I had feelings for her more than just brotherly love and I felt guilty also that I didn't support her decision to get married to Nishikanth because I felt that your father couldn't give her the luxuries she was used to. But your mother proved me wrong. She never approached us even in the most difficult times of her life except when she was sure that her illness was terminal and she wanted someone to be there for her daughters if anything went wrong.
Bani: If you had broken your relationship then how came Jigyasa aunty came to know about all this.
Adi: Well Jigyasa was madly in love with me. While I was not sure about myself but then Jigyasa was there when I needed somebody to confide in. She also felt lonely as you know about Jai's parents. So we got married and she was aware that I had some feelings for your mother and she didn't mind that.
Bani if she was aware of everything then what the problem was.
Adi: After we got married I never had any contact with your mother for almost five years then on a business related trip I made to Mt. Abu I accidentally met your mother and I came to know that she had problems in her marriage and I stayed on to help her with the business after all she never even got her share of the property and I felt guilty for that. Same time Jigyasa was expecting Sahil and she was very close to the delivery date. Well I had to stay on for more time than expected.
Bani: Was the business doing that badly.
Adi: Nishikanth was little careless and he would be ready to help everyone and he wanted to have kids but your mother wanted the business to get stabilized then have kids. They were married for over five years. So I stayed on to help them out.
Bani: But why so much of animosity between the two of you.
Adi: Well during Her delivery some complications had come up and as the father of the baby and husband I should have been there but I wasn't present and when she enquired what I was doing she was furious that I still had time for your mother and not her. Will she always be the second in my life? If that was the case I should have married someone else.
Bani: But that was years ago why has she got to hold grudge for that now.
Adi: After that incident I promised her that again I wouldn't get touch with your mother and finally I felt peace that I had done something good for your mother. Then when she fell ill she contacted me and I went to see her but I led to Jigyasa by saying that it was just a buissness trip. Well all lies come to surface Before I eas back she came to know that I had gone to see your mother again.
Bani: No wonder she hates me also. I never understand why people always lie to save their face and then fall in to a bigger hole.
Adi: After that incident Jigyasa never regained her trust in me because she felt that I had taken advantage of the fact that she loved me. May be I did take her for granted but I do love her.

In the meantime at Walia mansion Jigyasa was enquiring about Adi and when she comes to know that he ahs gone to see bani she felt it was high time that she gave a piece of her mind. When Jigyasa enters she hears these dialogues from Adi's mouth and touched.
Bani: Don't you feel its high time you both come out of your differences
Adi: You know Jigyasa had a very insecure childhood were her father always looked up to Jai as his heir and ignored his daughter and then when her father left her mother she saw her mother's pain and agony. Massi also was very fond of Jai and she wanted him to be strong so that he could support is family. On the whole everyone forgot about Jigyasa but she got everything in the materialistic sense. When I came into her life she felt for the first time somebody was noticing her for the person she was and was not over whelmed by the name of Walia. She had played all her life the second fiddle so once in her life she wanted to be the first you can't blame her for that moreover she is the woman who loved me and was ready to marry me in spite of knowing that I had feelings for some other woman. But then with time I learned that what I ahd for your mother was sisterly love and with Jigyasa it was different. Why do you think I have stayed married to her for so long in spite of all her bitterness at times she was the woman who understood me and stood by my side at the lowest point in my life. More over she had given me three beautiful kids. What more can a man ask for?
Bani: Have you ever told her the way you feel?
Adi: I thought my actions would explain for themselves but I guess I was wrong. Even when she drove me to madness I stayed with her and was always patient with her. No other woman can measure up to Jigyasa in my life and that is a fact.
Bani: Why are men so dump and they feel their pride is in question if they admit they are in love and care for someone in their life.
Adi: Are you suggesting that I should go tell my wife that I love her and only after twenty five years of marriage.
Bani: what's the harm take it form me uncle a woman never gets tired of hearing that.
Jigyasa hearing this is really happy and felt that Bani could really shake up Adi's feelings for her. Well now let me see how he is going to act up on it. I swear Adi you are going to find it really difficult this time to impress me because you have always taken me for granted and you required a girl half your age to explain to you how a women feels. She feels happy but her eyes are moist and Ranveer sees his mother coming from the guest house side and thinks Bani is responsible for this.
Ranveer: What is the matter did Bani….
Jigyasa: No its Adi
Ranveer: Why mum do you always feel sad about your relationship. You got married to him because you loved him what happened to all that I know because it never used to be like this always.
Jigyasa: You don't understand. But I think it's high time me and Adi resolved all this.
Ranveer was now surprised as his mother always blew her top off whenever he suggested that she could be more appreciative of Adi. Looks like Bani was able to do what he couldn't do all these years. Must thank her

I thought I would do another update today itself as for the next two days I am busy. I have a people for lunch tomorrow and then I have to take my little baby for two birthday parties over the weekend and then my husband is flying on a business trip. so before sunday I don't think Iwill be able to give another update. sorry guys but I have relived the raaz regarding Adi and Bani hope you enjoy it.
