Finally got a bit free from Eid/family business, so just caught up with your fourth flight! Can I also join your FF-scheme??? 😃

This new story almost looks like having a happy start. Will it also have happy end or sad end? No need to answer, dear. Just wondering - keep us guessing 😛

Chapter 4

Nervously, Bani fingered one of the corsages. Delicate pink and white roses, surrounded by ferns and babies' breath. " Raashi, these are beautiful, Sasha is going to be so happy."

"Do you want to see the bouquet also?" Raashi asked. "It's gorgeous."

Bani nodded, and Raashi slipped into the back room once again.

Bani turned to Jai, and found that he was still watching her intently. Her heartbeat quickened at the sight. Who was this man afterall?

"There's no reason for you to wait here," Bani said, glancing away nervously.

"Yes Bani, there is." He replied huskily.

Then he moved closer to her and took her left hand in his, ran his thumb along the top of her fingers. "No ring, I see, so what is the problem beautiful Bani."

"I couldn't have dinner with you, even if I wanted to" Bani replied.

"Does that mean you want to, but are just playing hard to get, because two can play the same game you know?" said Jai with a smirk on his face.

Bani looked into his eyes, the pulse at her neck betraying her attraction for him. He was attractive no doubt about it ……… actually strike that, he was hot, just too darn hot to handle and resist ……… and that was the problem. Generally, she knew a man for several years before she let him hold her hand. This stranger however was moving too fast for her liking ……… not that she was complaining …….. but still.

Who was he, anyway? A man passing through on some type of business probably, and looking for a little no strings attached kind of fun before he left. She never should have allowed things to go this far. Her head must be full of romantic mush due to all the wedding plans. The best thing to do, she decided, was to let him know she wasn't interested, once and for all.

"No" she said, meeting his gaze as levelly as she could. "I'm not interested in having dinner with you, or in carrying this conversation any further." She tugged back her hand, and he released it without a struggle.

Jai then moved closer to her ear and whispered "alright cowgirl, time is up and the game is over" ………. he then ran his finger over her left cheek and continued "results have still to be declared Bani, don't celebrate as yet."

He then moved away from her and walked towards the door, he turned around and said "maybe I'll see you around."

"You never really leave a place or a person you love, part of them you take with you, leaving a part of yourself behind."

"I doubt it" Bani said.

"Ah the code again ……. ok message encoded sweetheart ………. I get it" he winked at her and smiled.

Jai then gave her one last look and sauntered off before Bani could even say anything further, and Bani just watched through the store windows as he climbed into a black Porsche and backed out onto the road leading out of town.

Darn was she sad to see him go.

"Some people come into our lives and quickly go. Some stay for awhile and leave footprints on our hearts. And we are never, ever the same."

"Why'd you take the horse?" Sasha asked, as Bani dismounted and handed the reins to Tony, the man who ran their stable. He shook his head at her, and led the horse away, mumbling about women who rode off without telling anyone where they were going. Tony liked to run a tight stable.

Bani ignored him. She mounted the steps leading to the porch of the main house. "Thunder needed the exercise," she told Sasha, who followed along. "Why do you care if I took the horse?"

"I care because Jack's parents should be arriving any minute" Sasha said. She tapped her watch. "And the wedding is tonight. Look at you, you're not even ready."

"Well, you look great," Bani said. "So, relax. I'll be dressed in time for the wedding. And Jack's parents will just have to accept me the way I am, even if they are oil billionaires. If they don't like me, who cares? He's going to be your husband, not mine."

"I know. I'm just so nervous" Sasha said.

Bani gave her a quick hug. "This happened fast, but you two were meant for each other."

"Thanks, Bani" Sasha said. "Now if we could only find someone for you."

"Oh no," Bani laughed. "I'm not going to marry some guy and leave this place like you. I love Mt. Abu. This is home for me." She nodded, and surveyed the property that stretched, green and vibrant, towards the Mountains. "This will always be home."

"We'll see" Sasha said. "Well, how were the flowers?"

"Hmmm?" Bani asked. She was lost in thought. She would never be persuaded to leave this house, she told herself, not even if the most handsome man in the world came along in a black Porsche and stared at her with eyes the color of stonewashed brown jeans. Not even if he begged.

"In your life, you meet people. Some you never think about again. Some, you wonder what happened to them. There are some that you wonder if they ever think about you. And then there are some you wish you never had to think about again ………… But you do."

Fine: This is the word women use to end an argument when they are right and you need to shut up.
