This is a new Jai-bani fanfic.
This is a crime thriller.
Sketch of Characters-
ACP Jai Walia- Has been working with the Mumbai Police for 10 years. He works for Crime Branch. He is a man who believes in bringing criminals to justice. He is known for his sharp analytical skills, photographic memory, sharp deduction skills. He is a man no criminal wants to face.
ACP Bani Dixit- Has been working with the Delhi Police for last 5 years. Has recently been transfered to Mumbai police. She reports to Jai Walia. She is known criminal profiler, she is sharp and fast. She has a photographic memory, sharp deduction skills and a woman who know one wants to mess with. She knows her job.
Rest of the characters will come as the story progresses.
Jai and Bani solve crime together. They are different from one another. But when catching a criminal or solving a crime they are always a force to reckon with. Because they both believe in catching criminals and seeking justice against them.

Part-I
The crime scene looked gruesome. The medical examiner had already reached with his team and was going through the scene very minutely. The crime team's photographer was taking picutre of the victim.
The scene was where the victim had committed sucide. Her figure was sprawled like a eagle she was wide spread. She had gun in her hand and bullet hole at the left temple.
Bani was just about to leave the office for the day when the call came in. She responded to it and was on her way. Her boss Jai had already left for the day.
She decided to call Jai from the car. Bani called Jai and told him about the crime and the location. Jai told her he was on his way.
Malabar Hill,
Sunshine Building,
15th Floor,
Friday Morning 1:30am
As Bani approached the building she saw that the police were all over the place covering the perimeter from the onlookers and the media.
The officer saw Bani and gave her the right of the way. She went to the elevator and reached the 15th floor.
She entered the apartment and then the stench hit her. It just made her freeze. She took a deep breath and prepared herself to look at yet another crime scene. She had been doing it for 5 years and yet she still could never get use to see another dead body.
Bani walked in and she had her id around her neck. She saw Dr. Mehra looking at the victim and bagging all the evidence and talking with one of his assistance about something.
On seeing Bani, Dr.Mehra smiled and came to meet her. After the initial greeting Bani started looking at the crime scene more closely she took out her gloves and wore them and bend to take a closer look at the victim.
As she was looking at the victim trying to ascertain any clues. Bani could speak to dead. She was profiler by looking at the crime scene her mind could reconstruct how the crime could have been committed.
She was looking from all directions.
Something was missing, her gut feeling told her something was not right here. The crime scene looked to messy for a sucide.
Bani use to never ask the medical examiner anything before she had formed an opinion and then she would question the medical examiner regarding everything.
As she was looking at the victim, Jai Walia entered the crime scene.
Jai walked up to Bani and said, "Bani have u formed an opinion yet?"
Bani looked at Jai and said, "Sir, I do not think this is a case of sucide. This looks like murder to me."
Jai asked Bani, "What makes u say that?"
Bani asked Jai to follow her and Jai also wore white gloves before inspecting the crime scene.
Both Jai and Bani were now standing next to the victim. Bani bend down and said, "Look at the entry wound of the victim it is at the left temple. But the gun is in the right hand? Why?"
She continued, "If the victim had committed sucide then the gun should have been in the right hand. But this is not the case here."
Jai looked at her and said nothing.
Jai said to Dr.Mehra, "Have u tested the victim for gunpowder residue?"
Dr.Mehra said,"Yes, I was about to tell u it came negative."
Jai said,"How is that possible? If the victim committed sucide then there has to be a gunpowder residue in her hand when she pulled the trigger it would have resulted in gunpowder showing in her hands."
Dr.Mehra,"I understand what u r saying, but this is not the case."
Bani jumped in and said,"Can u ascertain the time of death?"
Dr.Mehra said, "From looking at the victim it seems that rigor mortis has started to happen. I would ascertain the time of death between 10-11 pm. I will be able to give u a more details once I have performed autopsy on the victim."
Jai told him,"Fine. Let me know when u r done with the autospy."
Jai asked Bani,"Do we know who the victim is?"
Bani said, "The house is in the name of Reema Malik."
Jai said,"So is this Reema Malik?"
Bani said, "No this is not her."
Jai asked her, "What makes u say that?"
Bani pointed him to the photograph kept on the chest of drawers. The woman in the picture was much taller and beautiful than the woman who had been killed she was on a heavier side and was dark-skinned unlike the woman in the picture who was fair-skinned.
Both Jai and Bani started to search the house.It was a two-bedroom apartment. While doing this Jai asked to call the watchman on duty as he wanted to speak to him.
As Jai was about to enter the first bedroom Bani called him and said,"Sir look at this."
Jai turned around and came to Bani she was standing at the dining room.
The table had been laid for two people. There was two wine glasses lying there. Jai asked the forsenics team to bag the evidence and later on see if any fingerprints are found.
He also wanted the entire apartment to be dusted for fingerprints. He had to rule the family members out. Right now, it seemed that Reema Malik lived alone.
But still he wanted to ensure that the case was looked and investigated from all angles. Not even the smallest thing should be overlooked. He did not want killers or offenders to walk out of a jail term on a techinicality.
He was very clear about it.
Bani and Jai were sure that there was more to this case and they want to get at the bottom of it.
Bani went and started searching the first bedroom and Jai started searching the second bedroom. Both Jai and Bani found that all clothing was missing. The apartment had bare minimum things. It seemed that someone had left the apartment in a hurry.
Both Jai and Bani did not find anything worthwhile in the bedrooms.
By the time they had searched the apartment throughly, the watchman of the building had come.
Jai called him in and asked him,"Yahaan par kabse kaam karte hoon?" For how long have u been working here?
The watchman replied,"Two saal se kaam kar raha hoon. I have been working for two years now.
Jai asked, "Night shift kabse kar raha hoo?" Since when have u been on a night shift?
The watchman,"For past one week."
Jai said, "Aaj yahan koi aaya tha ya yahan se kisi ko thodi der phele jaate hua dekha hai kya? Has anyone come here today or have u noticed anyone go from here sometime back."
The watchman seemed hesitant and both Jai and Bani caught on it and Jai further pressured him.
Jai told him,"Ya toh yahan saach bata do ya phir police station faisla tumhe karna hai." Either tell the truth here now or at the police station. The decision is yours entirely.
The watchman said,"Sahab, main yahan se kisi ko aata aur jaate hua nahi dekha. Maa kasam saheb." Sir I have not seen anyone come and go from this apartment. I swear on my mother.
Jai knew he was lying but said nothing and let him go.
He told one of the officers to keep an eye on him and he wanted him to be tailed tomorrow once he left his duty. No need to arrest him. Just keep an eye on him.
The victim had been moved.
Jai and Bani decided to speak the secretary in the morning.
They still did not know who the victim was or what could have been the possible motive for the crime?
They walked out of the apartment and as they were leaving for the elevator. Bani saw a figure near the stairs on the floor above them. Looking at them directly. She did not say anything but signaled Jai that someone was up there. Jai took out his gun and Bani took out her gun.
And then they ran towards the stairs. Seeing them coming with such speed. The intruder was taken aback by the sudden move, he cursed himself for underestimating Jai and Bani.
He ran towards the terrace and Jai and Bani hot on his trail. He opened the door which connected it to the terrace and raced on it.
His running ground was going to sell him short. But he had to get out of here. It was too early in the game to be caught. The thrill was about to begin.
Jai and Bani ran towards him. But after searching the terrace they were unable to find him and the reason was he had jumped to another building almost killing himself but had just survived by catching the wall of the other building at the last moment.
He saw both Jai and Bani and said to them until next time my friends..............
