Jai and Bani still did not understand who could that intruder be. Was he here all the time? Was he watching them? How much did he know about the case? These things were running in both of their minds.
Jai and Bani worked well together. Jai and Bani were so different yet a past still connected them together. A past which neither want to remember but could not forget, a present which was weighing too much on both of them and a future that they did not want to face together but yet were again back together.
Jai and Bani parents were best of friends. Jai and Bani's fathers were business partners.
Jai Walia could have joined his father in the hospitality business if he wanted to. But Jai from a very young age was always interested in joining the police force and fighting crime. By the time he grew up he knew he wanted to be a police officer and hence he was today a successful ACP in his professional life but was alone in his personal life. A life he had chosen himself when he walked out on Bani on the day of their wedding.
Bani also came from a very influencial family. Her father was into event management business. But Bani was different since she was young. She had this unique power of ESP which only grew as the time went by.
She decided to use her power to fight crime and put criminals behind bars. She still could not forget the day when Jai walked out on the day of their marriage. She stood stunned in her bridal outfit only to be told that Jai had left her stranded.
The Dixit family had been humilated and for this Jai's father did not forgive him and it was the very reason that Jai and his father had not spoken to each other in the last 5 years. They lived under the same roof but like two strangers.
Bani decided to leave Mumbai and go to Delhi. There she joined the Delhi Crime Branch as a criminal profiler and started solving cases at a brisk pace. It was only time before she was known as the country's best profiler who was a no-nonesense police officer. Her mission in life was to put offenders and accused behind bars. And she left no stone unturned.
When her father started not keeping well, Bani asked for a transfer to Mumbai Crime Branch as she was given the transfer as she wanted to be close to her father and take care of her parents. Being the only daughter she knew it was her duty to take care of her parents.
But the transfer to Mumbai got with it the a torrent past as she once again stood infront of Jai Walia this time as her boss. Jai Walia was too numb to find out that Bani would be working with him.
Jai on many ocassion had tried to sort out the issues between them but Bani did not want to bring up the past. It was buried and with that her relationship with Jai was also history. Jai had asked her to call him Jai but she called him "Sir", and told Jai not to start a relationship which he killed before even giving it time to nurture.
She told him to be professional with her and that is the relationship they will share. She was clear about it. No matter what. For her Jai Walia died the day he left her to be humilated in her own wedding.
Jai had never forgiven himself for what he had put Bani through. But there was nothing he could do about the past. He was living in the present and future was not in his hands. Jai decided one of these days he had to clear the air with Bani come what may.
While the past came flooding in front of both their eyes. A phone ring on Jai's mobile brought both of them back to the living. It was Dr.Mehra he had finished the autospy on the victim and had his report ready.
Jai looked at the watch and saw it was 9am in the morning. Both Jai and Bani had not slept all night and knew would not be able to rest anytime soon.
Dr.Mehra's Lab,
Friday 9am,
Dr. Mehra had both some pleasant and some disturbing news. Actually mostly disturbing news. He had finished the autospy and it revealed some damaging news which will affect the outcome of the case in a big way.
Jai and Bani both walked into Dr.Mehra's cabin. He asked them to sit down. And ordered coffee for all of them.
Jai asked, "So what have u got for us?"
Dr.Mehra,"Well, I have completed my autopsy report and have found out that the victim died due to strangulation, further close examination has revealed marks around the neck. The bullet wound seemed like a after thought to confuse us. This is definitely murder not sucide."
This news startled both Jai and Bani.
Dr.Mehra continued,"We also found that the victim was pregnant three weeks and when I ran her fingerprints through our database I hit the jackpot. She has a criminal record. Her name is Rani Chanda, she was a bar dancer who had been arrested for prostitution and drug related cases."
This further stunned Jai and Bani.
Dr.Mehra continued, "Also, we found out that she had been raped before she was killled we are still checking to see if any marks or semen were found on the victim."
Jai and Bani were now looking at each other.
Dr.Mehra told them that they can take the report with them as soon as he is able to tell them more about the evidence regarding rape he will call them.
The coffee came and all three of them drank without saying much to each other.
Jai and Bani went back to their office and got Rani Chanda's house address and decide to investigate the matter themselves.
Rani Chanda lived in Dharavi Chawl.
As soon as they reached her home they saw that the door to her small house was ajar or open. Both Jai and Bani took out their guns and proceeded the house with caution. Jai entered first and then Bani.
As they further moved into the room somebody attacked at both of them from behind. Both Jai and Bani's gun went sprawling on the floor. But this time Bani moved fast and jabbed the intruder in the stomach. Jai came back and hit him with a punch on his face and kicked him in his groin. The intruder fell down crying out loud with a thud.
Jai and Bani both latched on to the intruder and Jai took out the mask and they were facing the watchman who they had spoken to last night.
Both were stunned.
