Part 3
While sitting in his big chair Jai pours himself a strong drink. He closes his eyes and tries to relax. Forget his work, his life and the people in his life. He wants to escape for a little while from all his problems and concerns. But before he can even picturize an utopia in front of him the light in his home office is switch on. With a sigh he opens his eyes and sees his sister Jigyasa standing in the door opening. 'Jai bhaiyia, I really need to talk to you. I can't do this anymore. The stress is getting too much and it will give me a rash and ruin my beautiful skin. You have to find me a solution. You know how much I love you daughter and I love her as much as my daughter Anu.' Jai thinks to himself that she doesn't even know her daughter. The only time they see each other is on parties. Knowing his sister he doesn't stop her but lets her complete her daily drama speech. 'I've tried my best with her brother, but you have to get her professional help. I know she has been through a lot, but no matter how hard it is. Your daughter is a retard and needs professionals to deal with her. I can't do it anymore, she makes me look like a fool in front of my friends!' Jai can't believe his ears. He almost jumps out of his chair stands just centimeters away from Jigz. While screaming her name, making her immediately stop talking he holds his hand up to slap her. His face is dark with anger and Jigz realizes she has really crossed the lines this time. She swallows away the fear and with great difficulty looks up to her furious brother and says, 'I'm sorry Jai. I never meant to insult you or Anjali. She is my own blood, but you have to know that she is suffering and it is not in my ability to help her. You know that I'm not very good with kids.' She drops a couple of crocodile tears. Jai can look right through them but decides that he won't use anymore energy on her. He has tried to change her for years, but Jigz will stay Jigz. She cares only about her own comforts and about appearances. While her words keep running circles in his mind he realizes that she is somehow right. Even worse he is the one who needs to take care of his own daughter. It's not Jigz responsibility. With pain in his heart he walks past his sister and walks towards his daughter's room. He hasn't set eyes on his daughter for the last three months. He feels extremely guilty, but he just simply can't set eyes on her. It tears him apart to see what his once full of life daughter has turned out to be. He just can't bear to see her that way. While standing in front of her door with his hand on the doorpost his mind travels back in time, to a hot summer day in 2003. His eyes fill with tears and once again without setting eyes on his daughter he turns around and walks straight to his own bedroom.
Today mr. Walia has thrown a big party at his hotel in Mumbai to celebrate the opening of the 50th Walia hotel in India. There are a lot of important people invited to the party and the catering staff is working their legs off their bodies. Since mrs. Khanna has gone in labour Bani has been put in charge of the catering. It's only been six months since she has started working at the Walia hotel, but she has already earned everybody's trust. She has really proven to be excellent in her work. Even important guests staying at the hotel keep mentioning her and praising her qualities as she knows what they need before they even ask for it. Not only has Bani made a lot of friends but some enemies too. But Bani being Bani couldn't be the least bothered. She was happy with her work and made sure nobody could complain about her. With quick and light steps she walks out of the kitchen closing the heaving door behind her and with it closing the noise that is created in the kitchen. She walks through the guests and gives the waiters and waitresses the needed directions. She then as smooth as possible goes towards mr. Walia who is standing in a corning smiling like a proud tiger and surrounded by several young ladies. Once of them was the lady she assumed to be his wife. In the past six months she hasn't seen much of mr. Walia as he was out of town for quite a while. All the instructions and orders came directly from his nephew Ranveer or through her chef. With a light bow and a soft wishper she tells the big boss that diner is ready to be served. Jai turns towards her and nods his head while saying, 'Thank you Bani, but please don't serve as yet. I'm waiting for my sister to arrive. I really don't know what is taken her so long. If she doesn't appear in 15 minutes you can serve dinner, alright?' Bani who is shocked that mr. Walia himself knows her name is not able to utter a word. She gives him a simple nod and leaves a quitly and quickely as she came.
In the mean time Jigz has arrived at the hotel. While shouting at the driver she runs towards the enterance to hide from the pouring rain. The poor driver quickly gets an wheelchair out of the trunk. Opens the backdoor and lifts a young girl up and puts her on the chair. 'Hurry up, you moron. She will get drained down and you will ruin my perfect plan!' The driver quickly drives the wheelchair towards his mistress and mumbles a sorry, while inside he curses her like hell. Jigz doesn't pay much attention to the driver. She places her hands on the chair and pushes it infront of her. Before she steps into the huge ballroom where all the vip are dancing and having the time of their lives, she quickly checks herself in the mirror. 'Today Jai my dear brother I will make you feel so sorry for the fact that you have not employed anyone to take care of this stupid retarted daughter of you! I've tried to tell you so many times that I don't want to take care of her. I'm not her mother for crying out loud!' She quickly fixes her sari , put up a big smile showing off her perfect white teeth and then pushes little Anjali into the ballroom. As soon as she enters all the loud voices, the music and other noises seem to come to silence. All eyes are fixed on Jigyasa and the little girl who is with her. Everybody knows who this little girl is, but nobody ever dares to talk of her when Jai is around. Jigyasa plays for a fool. As soon as she locates her brother she goes towards him. 'Good evening Jai bhaiyya. I'm sorry I'm late, but I wanted to surprise you by bringing Anjali to the party. The poor thing hasn't been out of the house since long and I thought a party would do her well.' Jai who can't believe his ears and eyes keeps starring in shock to his sister.
'Mr. Kapoor it has already been over 15 minutes. So I think it's time to start serving dinner. This is an order from mr. Walia himself.' Mr. Kapoor, the chef-cook of the Walia Hotel waves with his hand to make Bani silent. He is lying his final touch to the cake that will be served later this evening and he needs all his concentration to finish it with perfection. Bani on the other hand seems the least bothered about the cake as she is afraid they will evoke mr. Walia's anger if dinner isn't served on time. She gives it one more try, but when mr. Kapoor doesn't react she rolls her eyes, takes a deep breath and decides to serve dinner without waiting for his permission. She calls a couple of waiters and just when they are ready to take the food out Raj comes running inside. 'Bad timing Bani. Instead of food mr. Walia's sister has served a ticking bomb. This party is definitely going to be ruined!' Bani who is used to the exaggerating ways of Raj doesn't pay much attention to him. 'Please Raj stop being such a drama-queen. This is really not the time!' Raj who is extremely offended by Bani's words, grabs her from the arm and pulls her out of the kitchen and into the ballroom. Bani immediately senses the high tension that is around and wonders what everybody is looking at and why the party has come to a silence. Her eyes catches mr. Walia who is standing right in front of a lady holding a wheel-chair in which a little, small girl is sitting. She sees how mr. Walia bends in front of the little girl and slowly and very carefully as if touching a precious stone he pats her hair. Before she can asks Raj what is going on, he serves himself to be her private spy. 'Look Bani. You haven't been around for a long time, so there is a lot you don't know. That lady who is wearing a blue sari and holding the wheel-chair is Jigyasa. She is the only sister of mr. Walia. The little girl is his daughter. She didn't use to be in a wheel-chair but after her mothers death she got a shock and became a retard. She has never been able to come out of the shock. The daughter of has always been mr. Walia's pride has now become his shame. Never has seen her after he mothers death 3 years back, but today her aunt has brought her back to public again.' Bani is shocked by the news and doesn't know what to say. She just keeps starring at mr. Walia and sees how the lady she till now assumed to be his wife kneels next to him and whispers something in his ears. Raj seems the least bothered by the silence of Bani and continues his story. 'After his wife death mr. Walia has become a grumpy person. You see the lady next to him? The one with the black dress? Well she is miss. Sonalia Oberoi. She has been his childhood friend and only companion since three years back. The year in which mrs. Roshini Walia died in an accident. Bani, who still doesn't utter a word keeps looking at Jai, who with great difficulty excuses himself, takes over the wheel-chair and with tears in his eyes walks out of the ball-room, leaving all his guests starring at him. But not for long as within minutes the party was in full swing again, but the main topic was Anjali Walia. The girl that became insane after her mothers death.
