Part 13

Bani is walking up and down the hospital corridor. She wonders what has happened to her sister and can't but feel extremely guilty. Lately she has been so busy with Anjali. She has been leaving home early morning, while Rano and Pia where still sleeping and would come back home very late. Sometimes Rano would have already went to bed by then, which means they didnt even speak to each other. Bani feels she has neglected her little sister while doing her duty towards Anjali. She was always very happy to be with Anjali and around mr. Walia that she totally forgot about her own personal responsibilities and commitments towards her own family. Banis feels angry with herself and decides that she will never be able to forgive herself if Rano doesnt recover soon. Sahil is feeling extremely guilty himself. Not in his wildest dreams would he have thought that Rano could be Banis sister. That it was none other than Rano who saved Anjalis life the day he had lost her. While he was looking at Bani all the words said and the things he put Rano through flashes infront of him. She doesnt know if he will ever be able to face the girl again. Sahil gets put out of his thought by Natwar who walks in with some coffee. Sahil wonders what Natwar was doing with Rano, but decides that now is not the right time to ask such questions. Natwar makes Bani sit down and tries his best to calm her down. Bani sniffs and tries to control the panicking feeling that is rushing through her body. Natwar hold her trembling hands and assures her that Rano will be back home soon. Just then a doctor walks in and asks who of them is related to miss Dixit. Bani gets up and gives a scared look at the docter. He assures her not to worry as her sister is alright and tells her to follow him to his office. Bani feels extremely releaved and follows the doctor silently.

Jai as quietly as possible opens the door of his daughters bedroom. She is sleeping peacefully and after giving her a little kiss he leaves again. While he walks towards his own room, he notices that the light in his studyroom. He is suprised and wonders to himself who could be still working at this late hour. When he walks into his study he is even more suprised to see none other than his Maasi sitting behind his desk. 'Maasi? I can't believe my eyes!' Maasi laughs and gets up to recieve a huge teddybear hug from her favourite nephew. 'Mera Munna! How have you been my son. Ive missed you so much that Ive decided to come back to India and stay with you kids permentaly. After my husband died, life in London has become unbearable for me.' Jai is even more happy. He has been after maasi for years to come and live with him, but she always refused. But the past doesnt because now she has come and she will stay. Both of them sit and chat. Maasi requires about Anjali's health and Jai happily tells her about her improvements and that Bani is taking so much care of his little princess. Maasi gives him a questionmark look and Jai grins. 'You see Maasi when you are far away you miss alot of things. Bani is the nure of my little princess.' Maasi in a teasingly way replies back saying 'Accha? Are you sure she is nothing more?' Jai bursts out laughing and in a rather shyly way says to his maasi that Bani is still a bachcha. He would never be able to think of her more than just his daughter's nurse. Maasi on the other hand gives him a 'my-foot-look', but refrains from giving anymore comments. The two keep chattig away till the sun slowly comes up in the back.

Bani is lying next to Rano who is sleeping peacefully. The doctor has discharged her from the hospital and has given her some strong medicines to relax and sleep well. Bani is still shocked by the news the doctor gave her. Never would she have imagined that Rano would try to commit suicide. A thousand questions come up in her mind, but she can't answer them. All that she knows is that she has neglected her sister and she will never forgive herself for letting Rano be in this state. If she had be around more, she would have known that something was wrong with her sister. Bani wipes away her tears and promises herself that she will make sure Rano gets better and that she will do whatever she can to try and make Rano happy. She very carefully plants a kiss on her sisters head and strokes her hair. When she hears the outdoor being opened Bani slides out of the bed and walks down barefooted. She sees how a drunk Pia is trying to find her way to their room. Bani feels a disgusted feeling coming up and before she realises what she is doing, she slaps Pia right in the face. ''Do you have any idea what time this is? People are getting ready to leave for their work and you decided to finally come home and in what state! Dont you have any shame?" Pia mumbles a sorry and tells her sister that she had been to the college party and totally forgot about the time. 'Parties? Is that all you can think about and live for? Today our little sisters had almost died, but where the hell where you to even notice?! Dancing away and getting drunk!' Pia is shocked to hear the bad news, but due to her drunken state she is not able to express herself. Bani shouts at her and tells her to go get a shower and get out of her sight. Bani feels a bad headache coming up and drops herself on the couch. Sh gives herself the title of the worst sister ever. She feels extremely guilty for the state her sisters are in and she decides that she has to bring back order in her family. With a sigh she grabs the phone and calls mr. Walia. The phone rings a couple of times and Tony replies. Bani asks him how he is and asks for mr. Walia. Tony tells him that mr. Walia is sleeping and has given strict orders not to be disturbed. Bani tells Tony to tell mr. Walia that she is not coming to work today and that she will step by his office this afternoon to give an explanation.
