Part 7:

Bani stared back at Jai in shock. A hundred thoughts were racing through her mind that second. Did he mean it? Why was he looking at her like that? What was she supposed to say? Should she marry him? Was he joking? Was he serious?

Bani blinked: Yes…I mean no…I mean…what are you talking about? 😆

Saying that, she pushed him away from her. Jai looked at her, a little surprised at his own question. He was just joking when he said that but the minute those words left his mouth, he realized he truly meant it. He realized he wanted to marry Bani… 😳

He winked at her and said: You know what I'm talking about.

Bani stared back at him with her mouth wide open. She just stood there blinking. Jai chucked her chin to close her mouth and said, "Beware! Flies could fly in anytime!" 😲 😆

Bani still continued to stare at him in shock.

Jai: okay…looks like you're not ready to answer now…but tonight…actually midnight…meet me at my favorite spot…

Bani was about to interrupt..

Jai: if you know me like I think you do, then you'll know where my favorite spot is…I hope it's a yes… 😳

Saying that he walked away leaving a very confused Bani staring at his back.

Everyone's been sleeping for an hour. Bani looked at the clock for what seemed like the hundredth time. 11:30 P.M. Of course, it doesn't really matter since she wasn't going to go. Obviously Jai was just kidding. She flipped through her textbook. Time? 11:31. Sheesh…time's passing slow today… 😆 .well, maybe she should go and check….just in case…what if Jai does show up? He'd be hurt that she didn't go. But what if he made fun of her if she did go? Time? 11:35. Bani narrowed her eyes at the clock. Move faster! 😆 She sighed. She finished reading the line for the tenth time in her textbook but she still had no clue what she was reading. Time? 11:57. whoa! When did that happen? She quickly jumped out of bed and opened the window door. She turned around again. Sorry Papa, she thought, this is the last time, I promise. I have to find out today. Thinking that she climbed out the window.

Now Jai's favorite spot. AHA. Under the sky. Bani ventured out to the area behind her neighborhood where jai had taken her a while ago to show her the sky. She blushed thinking about him. She began running. She had to find out. She came to a sudden stop when she spotted his shadow. She looked at her watch. 12:05. Definitely past midnight. She bit her lip and slowed down. Her breath was shaky as she slowly moved ahead and came to a stop a few feet away from Jai.

As if sensing her, Jai turned around. She stopped breathing. He started advancing towards her. She looked down at her toes. He came to a stop a few inches away from her. She was scared to look at his face, fearing ridicule. What if he had been joking? But she had to find out. She slowly lifted her eyes and looked at him. There was no trace of laughter in his face. In fact, his eyes looked dark, darker than usual. She blinked, as if in a trance. The slight breeze made a strand of her hair blow in front of her face. Jai slowly lifted his hand and tucked the strand of hair behind her hair. She stopped breathing. He moved closer. Bani opened her eyes wide. Her heart was beating incessantly. He brought one hand up to her cheek and caressed it. She closed her eyes. He leaned in closer and whispered in her ear, "Bani…"

Bani sighed and snuggled closer to him. 😳 Jai smiled and put an arm around her back and pulled her closer. Bani gasped and quickly opened her eyes. She looked at him and blushed a deep red. Good thing, it was dark so he couldn't see. She rested her hands on his chest and started tapping her fingers. He laid his hand on hers to still her. She looked at him and froze. He slowly leaned in and dropped a feather light kiss on her cheek. She stopped breathing.

Jai whispered: Bani…

Bani (whispering too): ha…

Jai: what do you say?

Bani: what did you ask?

Jai grinned: will you marry me?

Bani grabbed his collar: Jai, I swear, if you're joking with me…I'm going to kill you. 😆

Jai smiled and brushed her cheek with another kiss: Does it seem like I'm joking?

Bani confused: no….yes…I don't know…why?

Now Jai was confused: what do you mean why?

Bani whispered her eyes downcast: why do you want to marry me?

Jai looked at her mesmerized as the breeze continued to blow strands of hair across his face.

(okay..here's the cheezy part 😆 )

Jai: I love your hair…I love the way it blows in my face…I love your eyes…I love the way they look at me…I love the way they twinkle when they see me… 😆 😆

All this while, Bani was having a hard time breathing: Jai…

Jai: I love the way you say my name…Bani, I want to marry you! Is that so hard to believe?

Bani was lost in his eyes: no…no....I…

Jai put both his hands on either side of Bani's face, looked into her eyes and said: Bani, I love you…don't ask me why…I don't know when I've started to love you…all I know is that I do. 😳

Bani with a teary smile: Jai…

Jai: Now, will you marry me?

Bani, by now sobbing, nodded: Oh, Jai…I love you too…but unlike you, I know exactly when I fell in love with you….i know exactly WHY I fell in love with you…you were a little boy, just four or five! I fell in love with you the minute you turned around and said "hey Babe!" in kindergarten! 😆 I've always loved you Jai….and I couldn't want anything more than to marry you!

Jai with tears in his eyes: thanks Bani, for a minute there, I thought you were going to yell at me for saying, "hey babe!"

Bani laughed.

Jai: Bani….

Bani stopped laughing. She blinked. Jai leaned in closer. He kissed her on the forehead. Then he bent down and kissed her on the nose. Bani's breath was shaky. He kissed her on her cheekbones. Then continued to trail her cheek and jaw with feather light kisses and stopped at the edge of her lips. Bani stopped breathing. He looked at her with twinkling eyes. Bani's heart began beating faster. He leaned in softly touched her lips with his. Bani looked at him surprised. He pressed his lips to hers again. He moved his lips gently, teasingly, over hers. He kept his hands locked around her waist. Just as suddenly, he raised his head and let her go. She still had her eyes closed and her head tilted up.

Jai: Bani…

Bani came out of the daze and blushed: umm…ab ghar chale?

Jai laughed and nodded.

Bani had left her house as a single woman, and now when she's sneaking back in, she was an engaged woman. A fianc. Jai's fianc. 😳
