Chapter 4

As Bani walked into the classroom she got more and more nervous. Her hands were shaking and were a little sweaty but she kept telling herself that it wasn't her test that she should worry about it so much. But she did worry. A lot.

TEACHER:

Well class, before I hand out the results I just want to tell you some of you did very good.

BANI:

Thank God.

TEACHER:

But some of you did very bad.

BANI:

Oh no.

TEACHER:

Well without you waiting any further I am going to give you your results. Anita you did very good. Congratulations.

ANITA:

85%! Yay!

As the teacher got closer and closer to Bani her heart started to beat vey fast.

TEACHER:

Bani!

BANI:

Yes maam.

TEACHER:

Exemplary. As usual.

BANI:

99%!

TEACHER:

Jai!

JAI:

Yes.

TEACHER:

Very good. How unusual.

JAI:

95%! Wow!

TEACHER:

JAI:

BANI:

Thank God.

JAI:

Now I need to thank the person because of whom I have got such a good result.

Bani was waiting for this moment. She couldn't wait. But couldn't help think about how he would say it. Oddly he didn't say anything all lesson. The bell went and he rushed off as usual. Bani walked out of the classroom and saw him hug Roshni.

JAI:

Thanks darling. I guess all that mentoring worked.

ROSHNI:

I knew you get bored when i help you. Remember that time when you fell asleep. But somehow it got into that brain of yours. Didn't it?

JAI:

I guess so! Come on let's go celebrate.

ROSHNI:

They went off as a helpless Bani just stood there watching. Her face fell in an instant but she somehow managed to not cry at all. She went outside to find her sisters. She saw Pia, Rano and Anita under a tree.

PIA:

What happened di. The sun is shining and the birds are singing. Why are you looking down.

RANO:

Oh yeah you got your results how did Jai do?

Bani didn't reply. Anita grabbed her and made her sit on the newly cut grass in the shade of the tree.

ANITA:

BANI:

RANO:

BANI:

Rajdeep went running off quicker than a bull when angry. Sahil was about to go but then stopped and turned around.

Sahil was stopped from saying anything further because Jai came with Pia and Roshni.

Seeing the anger in her eyes Pia quickly grabbed Rano from her waist before she leps onto Sahil like a puma.

RANO:

Next time I see you I will scratch your eyes out.

SAHIL:

He walked off with Jai and Roshni.

RANO:

Let me go now Pia.

PIA:

No, calm down.

ANITA:

Ok he's gone let go of her.

RANO:

Why did you hold onto me? I would have taught him a never forgetting lesson.

BANI:

PUSHKAR:

RANO:

Right class. I am going to read out some names and you have to go to the hall. Tanya, Trishna, Rani, Bani, Jai and Anita.

They all went to the hall wondering what was going on.

ANITA:

Hey look there's Pushkar, Pia and Rano.

Anita was about to wave when the headmaster came to talk.

HEADMASTER:

You all have been chosen to take part in a dance learning programme. These standing in the front are professional dance coaches and they will teach you different sort of dances which will be in couples. Everyone in the school will do this and this is your fixed time. This will prepare you for this year's party. This way you will be doing something at the oarty instead of complaining about boredom. Look around girls any of these boys can becomes your partner. Boys any of these girls can be your partner. Now I leave you to the instructors and good day.

ROHAN(INSTRUCTOR 1):

Now you basically know everything. Listen to us and you shall be fine. We will pair you up and I don't want to hear any moans and groans. Girls on this side boys on that side.

Nandini(INSTRUCTOR 2):

Half of you girls will get to pick you partner through this box which have half of the guys names in it. The other half of the girls will be picked out by the boys from another box.

Everyone picked and some were pleased others were not.

ROHAN:

Well everybody find you partners.

Anita called Pia, Rano and Bani.

ANITA:

Bani, who did you get?

BANI:

Well............

PIA: She got Jai. I can see it in her sparkling eyes.

BANI:

Yeah. I did.

PIA:

Unfortunately I got your brother.

ANITA:

What's so unfortunate you two will whizz by this. He's learnt how to dance since forever and you dance to exercise. By the way I got Rajiv. I've been crushing on him since forever. Bye.

As soon as Anita left Pushkar came.

PUSHKAR:

Who did you get Bani?

BANI:

Jai. And you got Pia.

PUSHKAR:

Pia went off to talk to the instructor.

PUSHKAR:

RANO:

I wonder who I got.

SAHIL:

So I guess we're partners.

RANO:

There he was standing looking as handsome as ever in his white shirt and jeans. Now Bani was just trying to figure out how to go to him. When she get's to him what will she say? She started walking upto him.
