PIA: Hi. We have an appointment with the orthodontist.

RECEPTIONIST:

He's been waiting for you. Go on through.

PIA:

Thanks.

ORTHODONTIST:

BANI:

ORTHODONTIST:

Last time I saw you I was fixing in those braces of yours.

PIA:

Well we need them removed.

ORTHODONTIST: Ok. Well let's see if her teeth have turned.

Bani lay on the seat and opened her mouth while the orthodontist checked her teeth.

ORTHODONTIST:

I guess these can come out now. When would you like to remove them?

PIA:

How about now?

ORTHODONTIST:

Yes absolutely. I'm free.

BANI:

RANO:

Di you'll be fine. Come on Pia di let's wait outside.

PIA:

BANI:

Bye.

Her sisters walked out of the room while Bani had a scared expression on her face.

BANI:

Will it hurt? A lot?

ORTHODONTIST:

BANI:

ORTHODONTIST:

ORTHODONTIST:

Don't say anything further please. I can already hear her screaming in my head.

After 1 hour they got really bored.

RANO:

How long is this going to take?

PIA:

You know it could take forever. It's 2 o'clock we've still got to go shopping.

RANO:

Look she's coming out.

Bani walked out and in front of them.

BANI:

Look, do they look alright?

PIA:

Wow di!

RANO:

As good as new. What will happen if your teeth go back to how they originally were?

BANI:

He has given me a retainer to put on at night which will keep them like this.

PIA:

That's great. Come on we've got to go shopping.

They went off and quickly grabbed a taxi. Quickly rushing to the lenses shop.

PIA:

Look at all these colored lenses. Which colour do you like/

BANI:

Well I love green eyes. I'm a sucker for them no wonder I fell for Jai.

PIA:

Well now he'll fall for you and get insulted. Rano, which do you want?

RANO:

PIA:

RANO:

Why?

PIA:

Well you wear glasses and di is not going to wear hers anymore so I thought you might want to wear lenses and get rid of those hideous glasses.

RANO:

They're not hideous. BTW she's going to get revenge not me.

PIA:

Ok, calm down.

BANI:

Let's go.

PIA:

It's shoes and dresses next.

RANO:

Oh that shop near the coffee shop has beautiful dresses.

PIA:

So you do look at dresses.

BANI:

No she just likes putting them on and dancing around. But she'll never admit it.

RANO:

BANI:

PIA:

Yeah so before she kills us let's get into the shop.

They walked in and before Bani could say anything she layed her eyes on a black knee length dress with a white ribbon. She instantly fell in love with it. Before she could say what she thought Pia knew what she was thinking.

PIA:

That dress will do for Monday. Won't it di?

BANI:

It's perfect.

RANO:

Let's take it before it disappears.

They quickly bought it and many other skirts, shirts, jackets and shoes.

As they walked out of the shopping mall they had a lot of bags and Bani quickly sat on a bench.

PIA:

We have got everything. You're going to look perfect.

RANO:

Let's get a taxi and go home.

I'm knackered.

PIA:

Yeah well it will be fun to see Jai's face when I completely transform you.

Talking and talking they fell asleep.

PIA:

Di wake up!

BANI:

RANO:

We've got to change you today for tomorrow.

BANI:

Ok I'm getting up.

PIA:

Go take a shower so I can do your hair.

Pia dried Bani's hair then straightened it. They picked shoes. At 11:00 they went to bed. Bani lay in bed thinking about Jai and wondering what destiny has in store for her.

RANO:

Di, it's time.

PIA:

Di, sit straight. I'm putting on skin colour make up.

Pia did her hair all straight with a black ribbon on. She did her make up and had a hard time putting in her lenses but they eventually stayed in after Bani cried a lot.

They walked into school as everyone gazed wondering who Bani was. Bani walked into the canteen.

PIA:

Di, he's looking at you.

RANO:

More like staring.

Jai gazed at Bani wondering who she was.

JAI:

I wonder who she is?

ROSHNI:

Who cares? Now come on we have to talk!

JAI:

We talked enough yesterday when I broke up with you

ROSHNI:

Look I want to know because of whom you are breaking up with me.

JAI:

Look I don't know her myself. I talk to her on the internet. I don't know who she is but it feels like I've known her for ages. I think it might be that beautiful girl over there.

ROSHNI:

Look this is your last chance to take me back otherwise I'm gone forever.

Jai just looked at her and she went off in a huff.

JAI:

Could it be her? I need to talk to her.

He got up and walked over to Bani. Noticing this Pia and Rano walked off saying they needed to do some important work.

JAI:

Hi.

Bani turned realizing why her sisters went off weirdly.

BANI:

Hi.

JAI:

Do you like talking on the internet to people.

BANI:

JAI:

Well you're new to this school.

BANI:

No I'm an old student.

JAI:

Jai stood there with a smile on his face as she walked off.

He caught up with her before she went into the girls toilets.

BANI:

He went after her but she stopped him by turning around and standing in front of him.

Look I carry on this conversation and so can you but I don't think the girls in the toilets would appreciate it. So if you don't mind.

She went in without a second look at him while he stood there again wondering who she was and where she came from. But he was determined about one thing which was getting her name.

OMG he was totally after me. By the way why did you text me to come in the toilets?

PIA:

It was the only place he couldn't come to listen to what we're saying.

RANO:

So far it's working. When do you plan on telling him you're Bani the one he mocked.

BANI:

He'll find out today in science when he get's the shock of his life.

PIA:

Too bad we won't be there to see the fun.

Guys! Even though you lot have totally forgotten I'm here I'll give you the update. We all know Bani won't be able to tell you anything because she'd get shy or start giggling.

PIA:

Come on lets go. Or we'll get late for science.

They entered the room.

Bani went to the desk where Jai was seated. He looked at her wondering why she was coming towards him. Bani sat down in her seat.

JAI:

Why are you sitting here?

BANI:

You don't want me to sit here?

JAI:

No. It's just that this seat belongs to brainbox.

BANI:

JAI:

I don't know her name. Some geeky girl.

BANI:

Geeky girl? (angrily)

JAI:

Yeah. By the way what is your name?

BANI:

Oh you'll find out in a minute.

JAI:

Ok tell me your name and move otherwise the teacher will yell at you.

BANI:

Like I said you'll find out in a minute and I don't think so.

TEACHER:

JAI:

TEACHER:

Jai just sat there quiet. Bani did her work and didn't look at him once. On the other hand Jai sat there looking at her all lesson. When the bell went for break and he stood up and went off as quickly as he could. Bani went with Anita to find Rano and Pia. They found them near the lockers and then Anita told them everything.

PIA:

Really?

RANO:

Di, looks like your plan is working.

BANI:

Yep.

RANO:

Have any of you got something so I can tie my hair. It's annoying me.

ANITA:

Sorry.

RANO:

Pia di?

PIA:

Sorry not today.

RANO:

I'll go and get one off someone else.

Pia, Anita and Bani continued to talk while Rano walked away.

RANO:

Now what do I do.

She looked at her watch to find out what time it is. There near her watch was her scrunchie.

RANO:

I'm such an idiot. It's right there on my arm.

SAHIL:

Yes you are.

RANO:

Am what?

SAHIL:

An idiot.

RANO:

No I'm not.

SAHIL:

But you accepted it.

RANO:

Whatever.

She started to tie her hair and was about to go into the toilets when Sahil stopped her.

SAHIL:

Leave your hair open. It looks nice that way.

Rano just looked at him and went into the toilets. She looked at her herself in the mirror. Remembering Sahil's words she smiled and opened her hair.

RANO:

Not bad. She laughed and headed off to class.

Later on at lunchtime Jai went looking for Pia. He found her outside the canteen and shouted out her name.

PIA:

What happened?

JAI:

Look your sister……………………….

PIA:

What about her?

JAI:

Well when did she…………….

PIA

: This weekend. Why?

JAI:

I want to talk to her but I know she won't. So can you?

PIA:

Well I can do that much for you. But……………..

JAI:

But what?

PIA:

Please stay away from Roshni. She's just………………….

JAI:

I know. That's why I broke up with her yesterday when she came to my house.

PIA:

Really?

JAI:

But she's still stuck to me like glue

PIA:

Promise you'll stay away from her.

JAI:

I promise. Shall we hug on it or shake on it?

PIA:

Hug. We're not strangers. I've known you like forever.

JAI:

Ok.

They hugged. Pushkar saw them from afar. Pia went to the canteen to talk to her sisters. Jai went to his friends.

PUSHKAR:

So that's how she wants to play it. Fine I'll play it like that too.

Nice to see Jai putting his foot and more in his mouth. Bani should make

him suffer a bit, before going out with him, plus Roshni the plague has to be a goner

from his life.
