Ram's slim for KCK
He needed to be lean and mean to play the baddie in the movie, which stars Farhan Akhtar and Deepika Padukone. "I am playing the hateful person who is the biggest problem in Farhan's life," says Ram, "my character is very rude and khaddus and always troubles Farhan."
Ram says shedding the kilos was a required once the directed offered him the movie. "When Vijay Lalwani offered me the character of Kamath, I agreed instantly but he insisted I lose weight for the role. I had to look a little younger and sporty in the film. So I worked hard, gymming, going on a diet and was able to lose weight."
"And when I met Vijay after that he was very happy to see me," says Ram.
Another TV star is also in the movie, and that's Vivaan Bathena. "I don't have a big role in the film," says Vivaan modestly, "It's only till the intermission. But I am playing Deepika's collegue, who is also in love with Deepika but she is in love with Karthick."
"I am thankful to Farhan who approached me for this role," Vivaan said, "It was fun working with Farhan and Deepika. But I really enjoyed working with Ram Kapoor who is playing an important character in the film. I have few scenes with him. Working with such actors gives you a chance to grow in your life." Vivaan was earlier seen in Chak De India too.
Right now he is busy with his upcoming television show Pyaar Ka Bandhan.
Coming back to Ram Kapoor who has Anurag Kashyap's Udaan also in hand, he is very excited about his film career. "These are two very interesting releases. Both the films are very good. I have always wanted to do metro films. It's the kind of cinema that always interests me and the kind of cinema that I like to go and watch. I have given myself completely to these films."
He says he's not doing any television right now as he focuses on Bollywood. "At this point, it's wise for me to wait for the releases to happen and then see if I get more cinema work like that," he said, "But if I only get the kind of cinema I have always happily refused, I will take on television again. I love doing TV and I am lucky that I have reached a level where I get the best of roles."
