Chapter 4
For the first time in Jai's life he did not know what to do. He watched her face. She did look strange like she was inhaling the whole of him.
Bani's heart beat rose. Her heart drummed in her chest and she feared if she took another step closer he would hear them. It was him. She was sure. Her sense of smell never deceived her. She opened her mouth to say something a hand grabbed her from the back.
Jai heaved a sigh of relief.
Rohit looked at his boss apologetically. 'Bani..' he called her softly. 'Come and don't make a fool of yourself.'
Rohit turned to Jai and said, "I am Rohit your new staff in the financial department sir.'
Jai extended his hand. The men shook their hands.
'Rohit thought Jai. The hero who wanted to help her run away. Jai studied the young chap.
'Enjoy the party.' He said. And nodded at Bani casually who did not take her eyes off him.
Rohit pulled her away from her boss.
"What are you doing? Don't be stupid yar it will cost my job.'
'Bani removed his hand from her and looked at him. 'Don't be selfish Rohit.'
'Oh really… did I not ask you to recommend me to your brother and you were selfish enough not to..' he chided.
Bani gave him a hard look. She knew he was jesting.
As he pulled her forward Bani thought if the man was Jai Walia he would definitely look at her being dragged away by Rohit if not she had made a huge mistake. God please show me a sign she pleaded and closed her eyes for a fraction of a second. Bani immediately turned her head over her shoulder.
Jai cursed him. She had caught him looking at her did he see a faint smile did he? He did turn away but was sure she had seen him looking at her. Oh Man!
Bani excused her from Rohit and went to the wash room on her way she screened her head to see what he was doing. She did not see him anywhere.

Jai had caught Tarun talking to his friend Laxmi. He dragged him from her and told him about the incident.
Did she recognize you buddy?' asked Tarun LITTLE UPSAET WITH Jai for dragging him from Laxmi.
'I don't know she had a strange look and I have a feeling that…'
'Rule out the feeling.' Snapped Tarun.
'ok I doubt she has doubts…'
Tarun thought for a while and said, 'we will wait and see what she does.'
They did not have to wait for long they saw her leave the hall with Rohit and a minute later they knew the reason for her departure Randhir Dixit walked in with his allies his head held high.

Bani sat on her bed her knees folded to her chest. Every time she thought about him she was sure Jai Walia was her captor. Those eyes she had watched him. It was him. She repeated. She got up from her bed and paced the room. She had no idea how she was going to approach him. How will she meet him? What would she tell him? He was a handsome man thought Bani with a slight blush. A little intimidating but she decided to overlook that fault of his. Bani went and stood before the mirror. She looked at her reflection. She was little shorter and he was a hmp… a giant… she smiled at the thought. A blush formed on her cheeks and with a chuckle she ran to her bed and pulled the covers on top of her.

Jai had strictly told his assistant Shikha not to bother him with anything. He was busy and he was onto a prestigious project. Even after his instructions she stuck her head and informed him a lady was there to see him. When he asked if she had come with an appointment she had said No and he refused to see her. An hour later again she informed him saying she had something serious to tell him. He dismissed Shikha and asked her to give her an appointment looking at his calendar.
It was the fourth time the door opened and he shouted .. 'not now Shikha.. before he could continue he stopped and stared at the girl who stood holding the handle. She walked in and shut the door.
Jai concealed his initial shock.
'I am sorry I needed to see you.' She said looking at him apologetically.
Jai looked at Bani, she wore a jean and T-shirt and looked more like a school girl.
'Do you have an appointment?' he asked.
She shook her head.
'Then I am sorry I can't see you now I am busy and where's my assistant?'
'You mean the girl? She had gone to the washroom. I slipped in before she came. I had been asking her ….. well don't fire her she has no clue I am in… I needed to see you its important. I can't wait any longer I have been here from the morning I am hungry thirsty and what not…'
Jai had to keep a straight face.
The phone rang and he picked it up looking at her.
'Yes.. yes one moment..' he covered the mouth piece with his hand and looked at her.
'Look I am busy. This is an important call.
'You speak to the person I promise I'll not listen to your call.. She took a ear plug from her bag and fixed it on her ears and moved ahead and sat on the settee a little away from his desk.
There was no way he could avoid her thought Jai. He turned his attention on the phone.
'Shastri.. yes.. send me the project file I'll look into it and I'll call you.. okay.. yes…' he disconnected the call and looked at her.
Bani was studying him from the settee.. he looked too intimidating..she pulled the plug from her ears and walked towards him and sat on the chair opposite him.
'tell me Madam what's it and who are you?'
What an actor thought Bani and decided to play with him.
'I am Bani dixit.'
'Yes Miss Dixit what can I do for you?'
Bani wet her lips oh she was indeed thirsty and hungry.
'Can I get something to drink?'
He reached for the phone looking at her. 'send…'
'Juice will do…'
'Send one juice. Er.. he looked at her..'
'Cocktail..'
'Cocktail…'
'And yes I would like large..'
With an exasperated sigh he said over the phone. 'a cocktail juice and large.' he put the phone down and looked at her. Bani attempted a feeble smile. This was him …o the giant had less patience and this man before her was none other than her captor at that thought she smiled again.
Jai scowled. 'Madam tell me..'
She took a paper from her bag and handed it to him.
His frowned deepened as he went through the paper. He put the paper away and asked, 'where did you get it?'
'Juice…'
'Excuse me?'
'I am very thirsty…'
He grabbed the phone his attention turned on the door as it opened and Shikha walked in with a large glass of cocktail juice. She saw Bani and looked at her stunned. Bani gave her a smile which did not go unnoticed by her captor.
Shikha placed the glass on the table and looked at him. Jai threw her a look taking it as a hint she left them closing the door quietly.
Bani reached for the juice. She sipped it and was contend. It tasted good. She watched him as she sucked into the straw.
Jai waited for her to finish the juice and tell him where she got the important paper.
As she put the glass down he asked, 'would you care to tell me where you got it?'
'Yes… and then she narrated the incident

It was Randhir Dixit's Birthday. Her Bua wanted her to go and wish him. Bani was against meeting him but bua insisted. She reluctantly went to her house to wish him and as usual he was sitting with his friends with drinks in their hands. She walked in and wished him and precisely then a man walked in and bumped into her his file slipped from his hand and Bani helped him pick it up. He gathered the papers frantically being aware of the man watching him. Bani then saw a paper sticking out from the file. The golden letters read Walia Group she had seen similar writing pad with Rohit. She knew Randhir Dixit did not have anything to do with Jai Walia and their war was a talk among people they knew. She pulled the paper and tucked it in her duppatta without the man noticed and helped him gather other papers.
Bani left him throwing a look at her brother. She directly went to her room to inspect the paper in her hand. There were many figures she was not sure what it was but she knew it was to do with some important project. Her brother was sneaking important information from his rival. And for some reason she knew the man she bumped into was working with the Walia group.

Jai sat back in his chair and said, 'why are you here Miss Dixit?'
Bani frowned what kind of question is this? 'Well I came to tell yo..'
'On your brother?' he sneered.
Bani felt awful her face paled she felt kind of insulted well why did she come here? To tell on her brother that he was sneaking papers from under this giant's nose..
'Look here… I have my reasons for my action. Your so called loyal servants are cheating you sitting under the same roof. I thought I had passed you a valuable information well I am mistaken sorry ..' she snatched the paper from the table he immediately held the other end. 'Give me that…' she said.
'Leave it here..' he thundered.
'What for? I came with it its mine and your attitude says …'
'My attitude is my business take your hands off…' he did not leave his hand from the paper nor did Bani mover her hand. She challenged giving him a stare. Jai stared at her. Bani's hold loosened from the paper. She moved her gaze and he picked the paper.
'You take it… what will I do with it boil and eat? No thank you.' She said looking at him.
She walked to the door and turned from the door.
'Actually I came to confirm something..'
Jai's heart beat rose. He looked nonchalant.
'You are the one who abducted me from my house..' Bani's gaze did not move from his face. 'I am certain of it you with your friend… I was thinking what prompted you to do it?'
'Who is she thought jai Sherlock Holmes sister?
'you are not making any sense Dixit I am a busy man leave the room if you don't have anything else to say?'
'I do I do have things to say. You guys ruined my future you kept me as your captive for a week now what will people say when they learn I have been a prisoner for weeks.'
What weeks? it was just 3 days… Jai wanted to shout but he kept him from doing so.
'I am ruined now, who will marry me? my future looks very bleak…..'
Who says marriage enhances ones future thought jai.
'I hate you, I hate you.. you giant…. You ingrate…'
'Leave the room Dixit or else I have to call the security.' He wanted her to get out of the room this whole situation was turning bizarre.
'you need not have to do all that I know the way out I did not come to stay here… you ….' She did not know what else to say this was not what she had planned. She loved this selfish monster and look he is eager to throw her out of the room. the thought made her angrier. "you.. she pointed her finger at him and walked back and stood before him her face red. 'my friend says I am crazy now I am sure he is right.. don't you want to know why he calls me crazy?' she stared.
He did not want to know. He knew what was coming would give him stress and tension his racing mind told him so.
'Leave…'
'Oh I am leaving… I am absolutely mad to fall for someone like you, you big man…. Giant…. And you…………….' She wanted to call him many names take out her frustration but her tongue got tied.
Jai stood dumbstruck. What in God's name was she blabbing? She had fallen for him her captive she is absolutely out of her mind. To his surprise it touched him somewhere.
Bani saw his face register shock and then he concealed it immediately.
She walked back to the door. On an impulse she took long strides and stood before him, 'do you have a girlfriend? A wife?'
He looked impassive. 'If you have any of those I pray to God whenever you look at them they see a monster in you.' With that she walked out of the room not bothering to shut the door.
Jai stood and watched as the door slowly close. He sat back and closed his eyes. To his surprise her exit dialogue made him bubble with laughter.

Bani did not have a clue what to do? She couldn't get him out of her mind. There was no chance with him she knew after the meeting with him. 'But God!!!!!' She shouted looking up. 'why did you implant feeling for him if you don't want him to like me? Why? Why? Why?'

'Jai my friend, have you any idea what she is going to do next? And by the way why did she come to you?'
Jai threw Tarun a look. 'I am not her confidant Tarun. I have no clue may be she was paying back her brother. We know their relationship she did tell us.'
'Hm.. You sure she will not tell on us?'
Jai shrugged his shoulders.
'You are no telling me everything I have a feeling there's much more?'
'What are you implying?' he frowned.
'You tell me buddy.'
'I have no clue I have no idea what's in girls mind?'
'True.. I have no idea what's in Laxmi's mind.'
Jai laughed. 'Ask her if you are latto over her.'
'How?
'That's your headache leave me with all these things.'

It was a Sunday morning the weather was cloudy. Bani prayed for a shower. The heat was killing her. She had accompanied Rohit for window shopping. When she couldn't take the heat she pulled Rohit to a mall.
'Bani…. It's very expensive in here I can't afford to buy anything from here.' He chided.
'You told me you were not buying you just wanted to look.'
'Well I lied I want to buy something.'
'What?'
'A shirt.'
'Okay we will look here first.'
'I can't buy from here.'
'I'll buy for you okay.. When you have money pay me back.'
'You sure you have money to buy don't you want to keep them for rainy days. I thought you told me you brother wanted to discredit you from the will.'
'I lied can we go now.'
'No. tell me how are you and your brother?'
'He is fine and I am fine now come let's go..' she pulled him to a gent's shop.
She did not want to get out of the mall. The mall had centralized air condition. She did not want to get out of there. 'Come with me….'
Rohit had to give into her if she had set her mind then there was no going back.
They looked around the shop. What Bani liked Rohit did not finally Bani got fed up of him she left the shop and bumped into a woman.
'I am sorry.' Said Bani and looked at her. She did remember seeing her somewhere. Bani raked her brain as the lady gave her a nod and moved forward calling out, "jai…'
Bani's gaze followed her and landed on the man the lady walked up to.
'Gaint..' she murmured. Bani's face blanched is he involved with her? Is he? She did remember the woman she had seen her at his party. The gorgeous one.
'This is not fair..' she murmured.
'Hey Ban..' called Rohit and pulled her hand.
Jai looked at them. Bani's and his eyes met. He looked away and nodded at Rohit as the young chap gave his boss and bright smile.
'Come on Bani..' nudged Rohit.
Bani followed him.
Jai saw her leave and heaved a sigh of relief. He looked at Roshni the woman next to him who flashed him a brilliant smile
Bani gritted her teeth as she saw him smile at the woman.
Roshni took him to a men's wear showroom and walked to the tie section dragging him along.
Jai did not want to show his displeasure he hated shopping and it was his misfortune he met Roshni in the mall. He had a meeting with his client and decided to check on the latest ties she appeared before him. She learned from he was looking for tie she tagged along giving him her valuable knowledge on ties.
He walked around the shop and got a shock of his life. Bani stood before him glaring at him.
'So?' she asked.
'So?' repeated jai.
'You having good time with your girlfriend?'
'You stalking me dixit?' he raised his brows.
'You know better, you are the kidnapper. Is this how you kidnapped me?'
Jai looked around fearing someone would hear them. Bani followed his gaze.
'For time being you are safe. I have no idea how long this is going to be a secret?'
'What in God's name are you talking?'
'You know better, you are the kidnapper.'
'Stop it.'
'What Kidnapper?'
"Dixit do not meddle with me?' he warned.
'What will you do? Kidnap me again. I actually do not mind that idea you know I rather enjoyed those days.' She gave him a sweet smile.
He pushed her aside and walked in front.
'Hey.. Is she your girlfriend?' she took long strides and blocked his way.
He ignored her.
'Tell me is she your girlfriend?' she stood before him blocking his way. This time She looked around if anyone was watching them. There were few people busy in their own world. His so called gorgeous woman was busy talking to a sales man and Rohit had gone to the washroom.
Jai stood before her and looked over her head no one was taking any interest in watching them.
'What is it you want?' he almost shouted.
'Don't scare me. I was never afraid of you then I am going to be now… tell me is she your girl friend?'
'Yes.' His reply was abrupt.
'Is she?' she repeated her heart in her mouth.
Jai looked at her cute face and he did not have heart to say yes. He kept quiet.
'she is not?'
'Move aside.' He tried to move her with his hand she caught his hand in her's.
Jai did not expect that. He did not pull his hand away.
'she is not your girlfriend right?'
When he did not bother to confirm or deny she smiled at him and left his hand.
'Keep her away kidnapper..i can't tolerate it.' Saying that she turned on her heels and left him stare after her.
