Chapter 3
The drive was in silence. Bani sat at the back seat looking at the two men on the front seat.
They have made up their mind to dumb her she decided. She had to tell her decision and her decision was to go to her bua's house. She did not want to go to her brother and see his face. She had to finally tell them she would go to her bua. Bani expected them to take her the next day but no they had to take her the same day. She was blind folded for some time and was escorted by the giant. He sat with her at the back seat for a long time. Bani did try to pull the fold from her eyes. Every time she tried his hand came up on her's. They did not want to tie her hand they told her so and asked her to behave. She was sure they were not under mask and she wanted to see them, their faces, but no, the giant kept pulling away her hand from removing the fold. She gave up finally yawned and sat back. She had no idea when she fell asleep. When she woke up she was in the arms of the man. He had circled his hand around her giving her access to use his shoulder as her pillow. His hand was tenderly placed on her shoulder. She sat upright as she woke up from the sleep. He took his hand away and sat far away from her. They had stopped the car in a remote area and removed her eye fold. She looked expectantly at them to her disappointment they were wearing the hideous mask. Her smile vanished from her face. The car was parked on the side of the road. She had no idea why they have stopped there. She looked at them to question their intention they turned to her and she was snapped out of her thoughts as the giant spoke, 'a taxi will take you to your bua's house, the car will be here in any moment.' The same purr sound thought Bani.
'What if the driver kidnap me and do not drop me to the place?' she blurted.
'No such things will happen we will follow you keeping a distance.'
'oh, can I er.. mm.. see your faces?' she asked expectantly.
Jai took a moment to reply. 'No you may not see our faces.'
'Why? I'll not tell on you guys.' She asked her eyes widening.
Jai smiled. 'Yes you will not tell on us. We are sorry Bani.. and for everything.'
Before she could say anything the taxi stopped before them. He ushered her towards the taxi Bani reached for his mask.
Jai stopped and stood still holding his breath. Tarun looked at them startled.
Bani tugged at his mask looking at the intense eyes that bore into her. She loosened her hold from the mask Tarun heaved a sigh the next instant she reached for the mask.
'You don't want to do it.' he said with the purr accent. She took her hand away and looked at him. 'Oh my God! Her eyes widened in horror, 'you, you have a distorted face and my brother has done this to you? Isn't it? How awful… oh God! I am so sorry……….'
Jai looked heavenwards. He pushed her into the taxi and whispered, 'your brother did not do any such things.' He shut the door. And turned to the car.
Bani regretted not pulling the mask down. She lost the chance to see his face. Bani closed her eyes and leaned back.
Tarun and Jai removed their masks. Jai got behind the steering wheel they followed the taxi keeping a safe distance. Tarun had already told the driver the address. An hour later the taxi stopped along the road. they saw Bani get down from the taxi with her duffel bag. She looked at their car stopped little far from the taxi. She stood there hesitantly and walked to the building.
Bani had to ring the calling bell couple of times. The door opened and an older lady stuck her head and looked at her. it took her a whole of a minute to realize Bani was standing at the door in the middle of the night.
'Bani…' she shouted and pulled her in and closed the door.

Two months later.
Bani sat in the caf restlessly tapping her fingers on the table. 'Where the hell is he?' she muttered.
'hey Bani. sorry yar sorry..'
She heard the sound and turned to her friend Rohit. The boy stood looking at her apologetically. He was of Bani's age. They studied together in school since then they have been close friends. He was her confidant her brother and her punching bag.
'Where have you been Rohit? I have been waiting here for a long time.'
'Sorry yar caught up with something and …'
'What something? I asked you to help me and you…'
Yar Bani I had an interview.' He said scratching his head.
'where?'
'Walia group.'
'Oh.. that's a good company right. I think my brother is constantly at war with them.'
Rohit frowned.
'Yeah I just overheard him shouting at one of his staff if it was not for him they would have gotten the business. The walia's got the tender my brother was vying for. Good for him.' Bani said with resentment. She had stopped talking to him ever since she was abducted by the two men she considers the most caring and lovable. She knew she was crazy in thinking that way but there was no other way of thinking. Ever since they let her free she only thought about them specially the giant. There was something about him Bani couldn't pinpoint exactly. She feared if she thought more she would fall for the faceless giant her captor. The thought about him was so very romantic and she was a very romantic girl at heart. Every time she stepped out of the house she would search for them. She would look at men closely who had their stature and her that habit had put her in an embarrassing spot many times. She had to blab her excuses to get away from them. Some took it as to make a pass at her and she knew her captors never would behave that way. They had class. At times she scolded herself for defending them in her heart. What was wrong with her? was she going crazy? But she wished to god she see them one more time. She prayed every night before going to sleep to show her a glimpse of them.
'Bani…………. where are you lost?'
She smiled.
'Don't tell me you were thinking about them?' he scowled.
'Whom?' She very well knew what he was talking about.'
'Bani enough okay….. I know that dreamy look in you. You are one crazy person Bani. what in god's name is wrong with you?'
'I am perfectly fine my friend and I don't know what you are talking about.' She feigned ignorance.
'Don't act smart.. get them out of your mind and by the way I too have been thinking about it Bani. Are you in love with them?' he asked with a huge frown.
'them? what do you think I am rohit?' her face clouded.
'oops sorry I mean you in love with one of them?'
Bani did not reply.
'Bani…..' he shouted. You need a doctor and I am taking you to one.'
'shut up…'
'Bani you are one crazy person. How can you fall for someone who had kidnapped you and tortured you and ………'
'he did not torture me for you information and lower your voice.'
'Okay, okay he did not torture you but you don't know him do you and the best part is you haven't seen his face..'
'Yes, I haven't seen his face and what else you have to accuse me of? If you keep harassing me like this I'll fall in love with him mind you..' she threatened.
Rohit looked at her in exasperation. 'you are mad…'
'yes I am.. you fine with the answer.'
I am not fine damn you I am not.. you are sick my dear sick, sick and more sick.'
Bani got up from the chair and pulled few notes from her bag and slapped it on the table.
'I am going and I had enough of your lecture.'
'Bani…….. please calm down and I ..er..m am sorry come and sit down and tell me why you had called me..'
Bani heard none of him. she took her bag and marched out in her haste she collided with someone murmuring her apology she moved ahead and then stopped that perfume that smell was her giant.. yes it was him she looked hurriedly towards the man with whom she had collided. She saw him take a seat and call for the waiter to her disappointment the man looked very different in stature. He looked thin and then and there she decided she was going crazy. What was wrong with her why couldn't she get him out of her mind?
God's truth she couldn't get him out of her system. Every time she thought of him she remembered him sitting close to her in the car. She had felt kind of belonging there. She had even run into his arms in the rain and hugged him. o God! She was losing her marbles and she was sick. She should do something about it.

Bani refused to stay with her brother when he had come to call her in their bua's house. He even accused her of playing cheap game abducting her and asking her friends to call him and threaten him. Bani's explanations fell on deaf ears. She was so consumed by anger she refused to talk any further. She wanted to shout to him about the things she had overheard her brother talking about her. She wanted to scream he was a worse brother anyone could have. Their bua had to interfere between them to stop their fight. She asked Randhir to go home and Bani to stay with her as long as she wanted. Bani had told her everything and the lady had assured her Randhir would do no such things and she should forget about her abduction and nobody should know about it not even her brother if he believed it was her game let him believe that way. Bani did not understand her later she gave up. And to make matters worse she had gone ahead and fallen in love with the faceless man. She felt like pulling her hair every time she thought about it.

Bani had been to the shopping centre with her friends. They had lunch and parted. She took a parcel for her bua and walked out of the centre on her way she almost collided with a man who walked hurriedly in. Bani stopped on her track and on an impulse she called after him.
'Hey..'
He stopped on his track and turned to her a flicker of recognition in his eyes then his eyes were veiled. He looked straight at her and frowned.
Bani was dumbstruck she had not expected someone to look like this. he looked too intimidating she did not know what to tell him.
'I … er..' she cleared her throat and continued. 'I thought I .. am sorry.. you looked someone like I know..' she managed a feeble smile.
He nodded understandingly and turned on his heels heaving a sigh silently. He did want to turn back and look t her but he knew his action would cost him controlling the urge to turn back Jai walked hurriedly away.
A week later
Bani did not want to go to the party with Rohit she had told him so. But the boy was excited about his new job and he wanted her to share his happiness with him. she did not want to go the party she knew she would see her brother in there. Bani finally had to give in to him.
Bani wore a beige sari encrusted with maroon stones and golden threads embroidered. She was ready by the time Rohit came to pick her.
'Wow Bani you look gorgeous how many hearts are you going to break today.'
'oh shut up Rohit..' she said in mock anger and then asked with a grin 'you really think I look great?'
'No.. I was bluffing.. sorry I broke your heart.' He said with a grin.
'shut up Rohit.'
He laughed and nodded. And grimaced, 'gilrs!!!!!'

Jai took his drink in his hand waited for Tarun to show up precisely that time Tarun taped on his shoulder and sat beside him.
'devil.' Murmured Jai with good humor.
'you sure you have found the man Jai?' asked Tarun reaching for a drink.
'Yes I am almost sure who the culprit is.'
'Good then we will enjoy this party..'
'hm..''
The guest started coming one by one Jai along with the Tarun walked to welcome the guests. The Walia group was throwing party for their staff and contemporaries. Jai and Tarun welcomed everyone .
Bani walked in with Rohit. She screened the place to see if there was anyone she knew. The party was going in full swing.
Jai looked around the hall and his gaze stilled on the figure who walked in with a young chap. She looked dazzling in a sari and more grown up thought Jai with a smile. She was looking around the room as the boy nudged her she walked in. Jai's gaze followed her.
'what are you looking at? Asked Tarun in a whisper.
'look there..' Jai pointed his hand towards the direction.
Tarun's eyes widened at the sight. 'Bani…'
'han.. and mind you friend stay away from her. she almost gave me an attack few days ago yar.'
'what?'
Hm… in some centre and said I looked like someone she knew.'
And?'
'nothing she then left apologizing.'
She gave you a scare.
'she did.'

Bani did not like the party. There wasn't anyone she knew she took a cool drink and sat down.
Rohit left her and went to meet his new friends from the company. She sat utterly bored her gaze fell on the woman who walked in with lan. She looked gorgeous her hair was colored in burgubdy every step she took her hair swayed giving her a sexy look. She wore a stunning red color sari. Bani gaze followed her as she walked and stopped near a man. the lady pecked his cheeks and smiled showing her pearly teeth and Bani felt the room lit thousand watts with the smile. She saw they were drawing attention many of the youngsters were ogling at her and Bani felt them all look like puppies the thought struck her and she bubbled with laughter kicking herself for drawing attention from two men near she changed into a cough.
Her gaze again fell on the couple and she looked at the man. Oh god he was the same man she met in the centre. She looked once more at him it was him for sure. Who could that be? She was in her train of thought Rohit joined her. he looked at the direction she was looking and said, 'she looks gorgeous right Bani.'
'Hm and he looks ..er………. 'she cleared her voice and scolded him. 'where the hell have you been?'
'To meet my friends I did ask you to join me you did not want to and I had to leave you Bani… and I am having second thought taking you with me?'
'Oh really why is that you ungrateful monkey.'
'People would think we are an item and I don't want girls to think I am already hooked.'
'Oh! If you are drooling over that doll my dear boy you are wasting your drool. She won't even give you a second glance nor a first or any glance……'
'Ouch! Bani you doing very good.. thank you and you have been ogling at that man I saw the way you were looking.. he won't even waste a glance on you my dear.' He gave her back.
Bani wanted to shout and tell him she was not ogling at him she just made sure he was one she had met in the centre but she thought against it.
'Why not?' she asked looking squarely at him.
'with her no chance and besides he is my boss the very Jai Walia.'
'So what? Is he not a man?'
Bani my dear let us not argue I don't want to get you worked up you will take this as challenge and do something stupid that will embarrass both of us.'
Bani took a long sigh and said, 'I intent to do just that. You told me he won't look at me do you? what if I make him look at me?'
'No Bani.. no please…..' he pleaded looking frantically at her.
'you just watch.' Bani got up from her seat and walked slowly towards them.
Rohit closed his eyes.
Bani did not see anyone her eyes were focused on Jai. as she approached nearer she saw the beauty move forward and leave him. Bani's heart drummed heavily. What was wrong with her? Rohit was foolish and why was she getting worked up with small things god! If she retreated he would tease her till her death. She took careful steps. Bani was careful but not the waiter, he stepped on her sari pallav and she fell Backwards trying to steady her and not wanting to be the centre of attraction she grabbed the first thing that was near her, Two strong hands. Jai steadied her and looked at the waiter who looked terrified. He dismissed him muttering an apology to Bani. Bani held his hand and stared at him. She was alert immediately was she going crazy she thought frantically. This was the same hand her captor's. Unknowingly her thump circled his palm. It was him. it was him.
Jai immediately jerked his hand back and plastered a smile. She was looking directly in his eyes. he did not know where to look. Jai had no idea what was going to take place. He stood looking at her the smile he had plastered wore off. He cleared his throat and said, 'you alright ma'am?'
Bani did not reply she took a step forward he took a step backward and then cursed himself what was he doing? He stood his ground as she took a small step towards him. she looked like she was inhaling something she looked strange too.
Bani's mind reeled back and forth. The same smell the same cologne smell. She knew then they were not ordinary gundas it was him Jai Walia. Oh my god Jai Walia was her captor her mouth dropped opened and she stared at him unblinkingly.
