Outside in the hospital corridor from one of the pay phones.
Ami: Come on pick up the phone dammit. Finally the phone has been answered form the other side. What took you so long?
Shaun: No hi hello what's the disaster?
Ami: Seriously Shaun stop criticizing. And get your butt here quick.
That got him a little worried as he thought something had happened to Bani.
Shaun: Why something is wrong with mum?
Ami: Do I have to explain everything on the phone?
Shaun: Stop it you are making me worried.
Ami: She is fine that's what the doctor says. But something is damn fishy out here.
Shaun: Fishy like what?
Ami: That Mr. Walia who got mum operated. He gives me the wrong vibes. I swear to God that man is out right trouble for us.
Shaun: Great now you are suspicious of the guy who helped us too.
Ami: Come and see for yourself. They guy seems to know everyone from the head doctor to the at tender here. And mums strange behavior in the morning altogether doesn't look so great to me. So come down here as quick as you can with uncle.
Shaun: Alright in the mean time don't do anything stupid.
Ami: Why would I do that?
Shaun: please for once, stay put there till I come. And may be we can talk to mum.
Ami: Fair possibility of that happening. You know I just got kicked out of the room and he got to stay.
Shaun: Oh so that's the problem.
Ami: Shut up Shaun that's not just it.
Shaun: I am all ears can you just tell me what has you got you so worked up that you are even willing to be late for your rehearsals.
Ami: Listen you will not believe the guy got mum roses that too lilac.

Ami: Will you hear me through. In fact he insisted on getting only lilac. And you know when mum saw those flowers. It was like she was seeing ghost.
Shaun on the other end started laughing.
Ami: Shaun I am serious if you think it's a joke come and have a look for yourself. Why did mum just faint off as soon as that guy walked into her room. And why is that guy given so much of importance?
Shaun: Wait a minute did you say mum fainted, when all this happened. Why do you forget to say the most important thing?
Ami: I am running out coins so come here as quick as you can. Then you can judge what is important and not. In the mean time let me go and find out what's going on. I have a feeling this is no ordinary guy He knows a lot and he is not telling. I am going to find out what it is.
Shaun: Just hold on to the detective brain of yours till I reach there. I do not have time for a damage control today. You know that.
Ami: Oh ya. Just get yourself here itself would be a great help. And if you think I'm going to sit quietly you are highly mistaken.
Shaun: That's what I'm worried off.
Now Shaun knew his sister was never this raving mad without something happening over there. May be he should find out from uncle what's going on and he too had a gut feeling as to why would someone fly so many miles and bear the cost for the operation. And at first uncle was not that hopeful of any help from them. What brought about so many changes in a few days time? And to date they never had any visitors from India. Also their mother was very evasive about answering questions about that country.

Meanwhile in the room. As the nurse was bout to leave Bani stirs and Jai comes forward. But Bani just did not want to open her eyes and look up. She was afraid it was like one of those many dreams she has seen over the years. Once reality strikes in Jai wouldn't be there it was just she and the kids. Yes she has been living with the hope that one day he would return to her. But as years went by the hope had slowly vanished and now in place of that all she felt was a vacant space something no one could fill. So she was afraid to awake from the deep sleep as to she was not ready to face the reality. For years she had planned on what to say when he would come back to her. But today she could not find words in fact she did not have the courage to look up to him.
Jai couldn't understand why she refused to even look at him. Many questions came up in his head. Was it because now she just hated the sight of him. She couldn't face to see the man who had broken her dreams and her heart. Yes he had done one of the biggest mistake he had deserted his wife when she needed him the most.
Finally Jai came to her.
Jai: Come on Bani my Pari. I know you are awake. Just for once why don't you open your eyes? I just want to know you are alright. Then I shall leave….
On hearing that last word Bani all of a sudden opens her eyes.
Bani: With tears in her eyes and voice cracking
You made me wait for so long and you cannot even wait for a few seconds. So being left out hurts. How does it feel Jeet?
Jai just closed his eyes and you could see the tears falling freely from his eyes. He comes close to Bani and is holding on to her hand crying. While Bani just looks down from her bed. She cannot move because of the I.V. fluid on the other hand.
Jai: I am sorry I hurt you again Bani. I thought my sight itself pained you. I never wanted to be a reason for you to cry. But I was the biggest reason for your sorrow. I'm so sorry baby. I'm sorry my angel.
Bani: Why did you take so long to come? I waited and waited and you turn up when I least expected to...
Jai: You always said you liked the surprises which life brings in. Jut think of this as a surprise life has brought for you
Bani: Surprise. No this has been my dream for so long do you know that and you thought it pained me to see you here. How could you think like that?
Jai: After what I have put you through I don't think so I am eligible for that kind of a kindness.
Bani: Really Jeet do you think so little of your Pari.
Jai: No I know my Pari has a big heart and I had always wanted to be the only one there. That was selfish on my part. And guess I paid the price for it. But I had no right to make you pay for my mistakes.
Bani: Now also you think about yourself.
Jai: No Bani let me say for the first time. I want to tell someone what I feel. I know I'm too late for all that.
Bani: It's fine to be late better then never don't you think so.
She too has tears in her eyes she still cannot believe her Jeet has come back. She is transported back in time. She is just trying to feel his presence and to make sure that this isn't one of her wild dreams. In all this the two people forget to see a lonely figure that has just come in and standing at the door
Jai now has his head buried in her bosom and he is talking to her softly. And Bani is running her hands through his hair.
Jai: It's just that I feel I'm too late. Things have moved so quickly that I fail to see myself getting a hold on things.
Bani: For the first time not sure of yourself. I have lived with that feeling for the past twelve years Jeet. And you just cannot come to terms with it for few days. Why what has happened that has got you so fearful. It's not about your Pari for sure.
Jai: You know me too well Pari. Still so many things went wrong in our life Just because of me I'm sorry.
Bani: I think you have apologized enough. So come on your Pari is waiting.
Jai: For what.
Bani: to listen to all the things that you have to say. I have waited so long to hear your voice that all I want is to listen and not talk at all.
Jai: Really baby and Jai was about to kiss her forehead when Ami makes her presence felt as the screen makes noise as Ami is startled to see her mum who never had been intimate with any men is allowing this person to be so close. She just couldn't get a head a tail of their conversation.
On hearing the sound the emotional reunion is broken up.
Bani: Ami ah and Bani had the guilty look. What was she going to tell her daughter that the person standing her is you father and my husband how was she going to explain and moreover how was she going to explain to Jeet also. When did her neatly planned out life turn into such a big complication she never realized it.
Ami: Yes mum and care to explain what this stranger is doing in your room. And Mr. Walia I would like to have some time with my mum.
Bani: Ami please and Ami doesn't miss the hold of her mother onto Jai's hand it was like she was clutching on to her dear life.
Ami: Who is he mum?
Bani: I have told you before he is Jai Pratap Walia.
Ami: I am not interested in that Let me reframe my question. How is he related to you?
Bani: He is my husband.
Ami by now wasn't too shocked because by the closeness they shared she could figure out that this man was not just someone who had walked into their life he had some relationship with them.
Ami: Or do you mean to say that he is our father too or isn't he.
Bani at that accusing tone flairs up.
Bani: Of course he is your father what do you take me for Ami and I don't like that tone of yours.
Ami: Oh so when your so called husband has decided come back to your life we are outcasts I guess. Where was he here all these years? Forget it.
Bani: Stop it Ami and just hear me out baby.
Ami: Do not baby me and to hear you out all these years you never mentioned about him being our father and now if you want to play the act of the picture perfect family you got to be kidding me. And good luck. Shaun is coming in shortly so give him the details
And she just barges out.
Bani is now literally sobbing. Shaun is perplexed to see Ami rushing out and she has tears in her eyes.
Shaun: Hey Ami what's wrong and where are you going like an express mail.
Ami: Ask mum she would be the better person to answer that.
Shaun just walked up to the room to see his mother literally depressed and to see Jai trying to comfort there.
Shaun kept looking from Bani to Jai as is would they care to explain what was going on.
Bani: Shaun Just find that she is safe and heading home.
Shaun: Why do I have a feeling its not something dreadful has just happened anyways the explanation better be good looking the way she blasted from here looks like I too would not like what's going to come.

Finally Shaun finds his twin sitting in the park adjacent to the Hospital. And she is looking at the group of kids playing with their mum's
Shaun: Oh God Ami you gave me a fright can't you hear me when I call out. Mum is all worried about you. So are you coming or planning to sit out here.
Ami: Mum worried wow she is having a happy reunion.
Shaun: Reunion what the hell are you talking and you haven't been making sense from the time you called up.
Ami: Aren't you interested to know why the man has flown so many miles and spend a fortune to get mum treated.
Shaun: He must know her I guess.
Ami: Know her, Is that what Mum told you.
Shaun: No I haven't spoken to her she said she would explain but before that to get you.
Ami: Well I have heard all the explanations I want for a morning I am going for the rehearsals Already I have missed a good part of it.
Shaun: Fine I will come along till the bus stop.
Ami: Oh you don't have to body guard me always. I know to go
Shaun:Alright now don't get upset take care and hugs his sister. And turns to the other side to walk when Ami gives him the earth shattering news
Ami: So all the best in meeting our father.
That had him shocked and he turned to look at his sister.
Shaun: Father…
Ami: Guess I broke the news to you...
Shaun was speechless and couldn't register what just his sister had reveled to him. He even failed to see that his sister had got into the bus. Finally the kid coming on the skates dashed into him brought him out of the revive.
