Part 6

Finally all the festivities, all the hungama of Shiv and Gauri's wedding was finally over. They could get back to there lives and go about there daily routine.

They both tried to stay out of each others way as much as they possibly could. They would only talk when they needed to or in Shiv's case, were forced to.

One day Mahen called Shiv into his office and explained to him about this major deal that was happening in London. He thought that Shiv would be the person to send and that he could really handle it. He also mentioned at how proud of Shiv he was. Shiv never really heard these things so it too made him feel on top of the world.

Just as Shiv was leaving his father's office, Mahen said, "I have booked 2 tickets for both you and Gauri. It will be good for both of you to go spend some time alone. Shiv whirled around and said, "but dad I don't think that's a good idea. Gauri won't be able to get the time off and plus she will get so bored there. I will be in meetings all day." Shiv was really trying hard to go alone but Mahen got up and walked up to his son. He put a tender hand on his shoulder and said, "don't worry, I have already spoken to Anupam and he has agreed to give Gauri 10 days off. Shiv you need to realize that you are married now. You need to make time for your wife. Don't let her get bored. Understand!"

Shiv looked at his father and instead of arguing with him just nodded his head. As he stepped out, all he could think of was I can't let him down. He just gave me such a huge responsibility, I can't let him down. I guess I will deal with Gauri in London. With a frustrated sigh he left to his cabin.

lol....wat is he going to do in london??? will some other guy give gauri the goo goo eyes and shiv gets jealous!!lol 😉 😊 😊

Part 7

They were to leave for London in 2 days, and Gauri was a nervous wreck. She had about 20 things to do in the office, and about 100 things at home. She just didn't know how she was going to get everything done. She had even requested Mahen if only Shiv could go as she was so busy with work. Her father in law said, "beta this is the time for you to spend time with Shiv. Work will always be there. Your youth won't!" She nodded with a smile and went to go finish everything. She decided that it would better to go and not let her parents down.

She walked into her bedroom, only to stare into some very cold eyes. Shiv looked at her and said, "I don't want to go with you anywhere, but am being forced to. All I request is please don't embarrass me. I don't want to lose this deal. And for crying out loud, if you are going to wear these clothes, do not come out of the hotel room. Do you understand me!" With that he stormed out. Little did both of them know that Dadi had heard everything and got a very clever idea.

The next day, Gauri was busy tying up all lose ends so that she could leave for a week. Anupam hadn't realized how dependent he had become on her. He literally got scared for the next 10 days. So he had her make a list of everything, for A to Z. At lunch time Dadi walked into her office to surprise her. Gauri was so overwhelmed that she went and gave Dadi a big HUG!

They chit chatted for a couple of minutes when all of a sudden Dadi said, "Gauri, chal I wanted to take you out. Tu chalegi na mere saath?" Gauri was totally bogged down with work but could never refuse her dadi and just nodded. She excused herself and told Anupam she would be back in an hour or so.

Dadi took her to the mall. Gauri looked at her and said, "but dadi I have so many clothes, I really don't need any more for a long time." Dadi smacked her on the head lightly and said, "Gauri beta, you are going to London, there you don't wear clothes like these, you wear more western clothes. That's why I have brought you here." Gauri was astonished, at the same time she was a bit relieved. Maybe this is what she needed to actually buy western clothes. She was modern but because there was never a reason for her to wear western clothes, she never cared to. So the went shopping and picked up a lot of cute things: a business suit for her meeting, some jeans, cute kurtis, some skirts, dress, and last of all shoes. They quickly purchased everything, and Dadi dropped Gauri off at work and took everything home.

Gauri skipped into work with a new tone. She wasn't doing this to impress Shiv. She just would never want to embarrass him. Plus there was nothing wrong with being modern with a little culture.

She quickly finished everything and more and went home around 7. She helped out at home and worked with everyone in the kitchen. At about 11 she was totally exhausted and decided to call it a night. Just as she was about to step into her room, dadi came up to her and asked her to come and sit with her for awhile. Again Gauri couldn't refuse.

Part 8

She walked into Dadi's room and they were just talking about her work and small things. Then in a serious tone Dadi asked Gauri, "how is your relationship with Shiv?" Gauri was completely taken aback. She didn't even know how to respond. She just kept on staring at the carpet, praying that someone would call her. Dadi repeated her question and Gauri finally looked up. She knew she could lie to dadi. She said, "Dadi, things between Shiv and I are as expected. We both compromised so it will take us time. This was not something either of us wanted. I married Shiv to save my father's honor and he married me because Mahen uncle forced him." Dadi was completely shocked. Gauri went on to say that, "even though we have compromised, we both have vowed not to hurt our families and would like that no one knows of our compromise. It is what it is, but one day we will both learn to love the compromise. Trust me!" Dadi didn't even know what to say except that I wish you the best and anytime you want to talk you can always come to me. With that she wished Gauri sweet dreams and Gauri went off to her room. She was exhausted and the only thing she could think of was to get some sleep.

She walked into her room, to see Shiv sitting on the computer working on the project that he had to present in London. He looked up at Gauri and said, " I wanted you to look over this project as baba is making me take you to the meeting." Gauri was extremely tired and all she wanted to do was sleep but instead she nodded and took the files to her little bed on the floor. She propped herself up and looked through everything.

She could understand how this was profitable to the other company so she turned around and very said, "um vo, can I ask you a quick question?" Without even looking up he said, "mmmmm!"

She got up and walked over to him. She knelt down and asked him, "I don't understand why the other company would want this deal. It seems that we have described the product and our services, but we haven't added something unique that would set up apart." She looked up only to find him staring at her. He was for the first time counting his lucky starts that he didn't immediately yell at her as she actually made sense. He went on to explain the uniqueness lies in our customer service. The way he explained had Gauri sold, but she said, "You need to put that in the report, it sounds wonderful!" With that she got up and went back to studying the reports. Shiv just stared at her and shook his head!

Finally she had finished the report and was off to bed. She looked over at Shiv and noticed that he fell asleep sitting up. She walked over to him and picked up his laptop. She put it on the charger and saved all his documents. Then she put the blanket on him and went to bed herself.

This is a beautiful story and very enjoyable to read. 👏 👏
