Ok so after ages, there's an Indian show that has me hooked. Thankfully, I don't have to wait for the next day to follow the story but dangerously, because I don't have to wait, I can't seem to wait either 😃
Had a 3 day business trip this week but still caught up on eps at airport lounges and after dinners...
It's working as a stress buster 😊
My most favourite character is Cabir. I love how natural his characterization, mannerisms, being the mirror to his friends (especially Manik) without any judgement, always having his friend's back and just laying it out as it is... This is what friendship is all about. V are most fortunate to hv such friendships in life and I hv some friends who would just blindly do if I asked for something, hv my back and then tell me later in private if they thought it was wrong but they would do it anyways because I asked - blessed.
Alia-dhruv - very good characterization there. both held by shadows of what they had - best friend/first attraction and BF. Totally get their feeling of betrayal as they come to know the truth of Manik-Nandini. Aptly portrayed. The insecurities and mixed emotions due to this and the growing feelings towards each other - very natural.
Mukti - I am not convinced of the Abhimanyu angle but this is a broken girl living with the hurt of a relationship that was broken brutally. Abhimanyu is a good catalyst to her healing while she decides to be with him in his little time.
Fab 5 - the whole situation of feeling something is going on between Manik-Nandini, the anger at not being included in this truth, the guarding of boundaries when seeing there is someone new entering the fab 5 circle - Friend groups defined right.
My most favorite moment is when Manik leaves his performance to go look for Nandini and the 3 guys in Fab 5 realise Manik loves Nandini. Cabir backing up his Friend when the others are screaming 'why didn't he tell us'... Loved Cabir's 'because he hasn't recognised his feelings yet. He hasn't put a name to it yet.' That was just perfect. Talk about a Friend knowing you better than you might want to see yourself and standing by you.
Cabir's acknowledgement of Nandini. His always being straight with her just because he knows his friend's feelings - I love this characterization.
Loved the scene where Nandini sneaks into the car and reaches Soha's Farmhouse... and Cabir spots her, brings her to his room. The easy acceptance of what she told him and the best - When Manik comes in, very coolly bringing out Nandini, introducing the 2 and just leaving them to themselves. He simply trusted Nandini for what she was saying just because she is important to Manik.
I would do exactly the same if it was one of my friends...
The lovebirds - the whole equation has turned very relatable. Manik does what Nandini says but he's not changed as a person. He's just included her in his thought process. Nandini is young and this is love's first brush and I like that she doesn't get carried away but stays true to herself.
Loved nandini's realization that she loves him. She finally defined her feelings and the change in body language, need for closeness and just soaking the moment in - beautiful.
Loved manik's realization. It was a stressful moment and when in deep crisis, mind has a knack of reaching the truth.
best is the dialogues are all natural. They don't keep mouthing big philosophies, they talk regular simple stuff that we might when with friends or loved one... They don't overly moon over each other, neither are throwing heavy words; they just flow with normal life. I would think this would be most difficult to write. To keep things regular without making it boring!
Chemistry - natural is the word that comes to mind. I don't want to say sizzling because if 2 people are attracted towards each other, there should be sparks and that's what I see so - natural.
And you can't just have emotional/mental attraction without physical attraction.
It's nice to see this shown the way it is without the flying dupattas and dreamy sequences.
I even like Navya for her simplicity and strength. Good characterization here.
I liked that they are touching on youth issues - drugs/depression, pregnancy, gay... and playing it out without being preachy.
I hope one day the youth shows & General entertainment shows dissolve the worlds they seem to be operating within and bring in each other's issues in their stories. Showing youth issues on a youth channel doesn't get parents involved and continuing with the saas-bahu equation (or whatever is happening in our home show) just widens the crevice between youth reality & older generation mindset. The youth will simply grow up to be confused adults - talk about promoting generation gap!
No wonder the mainstream channels seem to write such confused stories... They don't know what to do with their progressive characters so easy way out - turn regressive.
One thing I noticed is that some situations are same as our home show (being at cross-roads between friends & love, the thought of leaving love for Friend and few more) but this show handled all of these very well so far. Nandini telling him 'what if something else happens with your friends and you leave me again'... Manik telling Nandini he is at a cross-road and Nandini knowing how imp his friends are - understanding. She telling him 'follow your heart' and he does just that... He follows his heart. Plans out everything so the album goes ahead (that he knows is imp to his friends) and being there himself to protect Nandini... He doesn't need to leave one for the other but you can balance both if your heart is in the right place...
Wish our home show had walked the path of logic!
Ok! So after this long 'what I loved' post, you can see am totally in and loving the show 😃
I lost count of the episode numbers... It's just in YT autoplay 😃
