Chapter 6

Manik had the best class of his life till now credited to his passion finally getting a direction and also to the girl who nowadays doesn't leave his heart and mind.Manik enjoyed the lesson along with glances of Nandini time to time in between.Nandini enjoyed the lesson with hidden shy smiles whenever she felt Manik's eyes stealing her glimpses and the reason of her shyness lost to herself.

"I see you are aware of the therapeutic significance of music .Impressive !!!!"Manik said to Nandini as soon as the teacher left the class making Nandini look at him confused.

"Huh? Sorry"Nandini expressed her confusion in these two words.Manik chuckled lightly before saying further.

"That's what my mind comprehend seeing a medicine student taking music lessons, maybe planning to heal patients with music therapy.Pardon,if I'm wrong."Manik said cheekily.Nandini laughed heartily at his introspection, making Manik's heart go on a high ride.

"Well a medicine student isn't banned to have artistic interests,are they?Your idea of music therapy sounds great too.I didn't earlier think about it.I might use it too and I am curious to know how a business student's going to be benefitted from music ."Nandini said grinning widely and emphasizing the word benefitted'.Manik was impressed by her witty nature .

"Business students aren't prohibited from artistic interests either, are they?"Manik almost imitated he .and then they both laughed heartily, surprised at the easy camaraderie they developed after one meeting only.They sombered soon and started walking out of the class.Manik was soon surrounded by some girls taking him away from Nandini.Meanwhile Cabir spotted Nandini and walked towards her.

"Hey cutie,how was the class?"Cabir appeared before her statling her.

"oh hi. It was good."Nandini replied flustered by his casual compliment.She was not used to behave this much casual with boys.Cabir indulged her in easy conversation talking about her class and music which put her at some ease.Both were heading out when a girl came suddenly and hugged Cabir tightly.

"whoa there,easy girl.Are you planning to break my ribs?"Cabir said in his usual playful manner.

"Yes,I'll breakyour bones one by one, sell them and become rich.superb plan,no?"The girl replied equally playful.Nandini was quietly enjoying their little banter when the girl noticed Nandini standing there.

"Hello lucky girl.You're the first one to escape Mukti's hit."Mukti said mocking despair.Nandini stood confused for she didn't know she tripped in the class because of the girl whose name was Mukti.Cabir being Mukti's childhood friend was well aware of Mukti's spoofy being.

"What the hell did you do now,Mukti?"Cabir asked her hoping she hasn't pulled some stupid prank on Nandini.

"Nothing much,I just stretched my leg for miss Mimosa pudica to embrace floor,she embraced a cute,hot guy instead.Lucky she,no?"Mukti told Cabir about her little stunt which didn't go quite well with him.Nandini was shocked to know that she didn't trip accidently but was made to trip.She stared at her angrily ,first she made her trip and now calling her this.She prepared to put some sense in her crazy mind but stopped to see Cabir already taking her class.

Cabir:" Mukti, stop bragging your not so great stint.How can you just go on playing pranks with anyone?Nandini is such a nice girl.She doesn't deserve such stupid stints and what the hell did you just call her?"

Mukti:"Oh look who's saying.Mr not so innocent prankster of the decade, go and see your face in the mirror and then come and lecture me.And I called her Mimosa pudica.It is a plant.

Cabir:"What plant,now?"He sighed knowing very well about her obsession with plants.Mukti was a botany student.That's why she joined part time music course.Before Mukti could answer him Nandini spoke.

Nandini: "It is botanical name for touch- me- not plant.Miss Mukti I am not at all that and about your prank,don't do such thing next time or it won't be good for you."Nandini said warning her. Mukti was happy at Nandini's knowledge of plants and instantly made her like Nandini.She apologized for her prank not wanting to lose chance of being friends with this plant' loving girl.

Mukti:"ok ok I am sorry but I can't help playing pranks.You know it's like oxygen to me.But I won't play any on you.So temme, do you study botany too?Atleast I found someone I can discuss it with."She said cheerfully.Nandini studied botany in 11^th and 12^th and had fair idea about it.She loved plants but her practical knowledge about it was almost nil.

Nandini:No, I don't study botany.I studied it in school only-"She couln't complete when Cabir interurupted .

Cabir:"Okay ,now please let the plants be in peace.Mukti I'll see you at your home for dinner.See your scooty is here.You can talk to Nandini tomorrow."

Mukti:"Okay,bye Nandini and I am sorry again.Hope you'll forget it and be good friend of mine, right?"She asked Nandini before leaving to which Nandini nodded and smiled at her.Mukti hugged her and left all excited.Cabir told her about Mukti more.They were childhood friends with their parents being friends and partners for years.Mukti was a bit younger than him.Nandini felt good hearing about their adorable friendship.

Cabir:"Nandini, I ll drop you off.Come ther's my car."But Nandini refused him .

Cabir:"Oho,come on Nandini there is no need for any formalities.We are friends now."Nandini hadn't been friends with boys ever so she felt little uncomfortable and confused.

Nandini:"Friends?"Nandini uttered confused.

Cabir:"yes, why?Aren't we?"Cabir asked not getting her discomfort.

Nandini:"Urm I haven't been friends with boys ever.So I don't know?"She replied honestly and innocently.Cabir finally getting her said"Oh!But there's first for everything.So friends?"He held out his hand to shake.Nandini shook his hand and smiled feeling elated.Cabir again offered to drop her off but she refused telling him that she didn't need a ride.She could walk to her hostel.Cabir had to finally relent and he left bidding bye to her.

She was about to walk when Manik called her from behind.Manik saw her leaving with Cabir.He so wanted to talk to her but was stopped by few girls trying to befriend him.He got the opportunity to escape them with great difficulty and practically ran to catch Nandini hoping she didn't leave yet.

Manik:"Hi again.sorry for leaving you."He said breathless.

Nandini:"Its okay.You don't have to be sorry.Manik smiled and asked her about Cabir.Nandini told him everything happened when she arrived at space and how Cabir helped her against Harshad.Manik already hating Harshad got concerned for Nandini.

Manik:"I hope you are right.Nothing bad happened to you, did it?"Nandini smiled touched by his concern and told him she was alright.Manik debated with himself how to ask her number.He was always easy going when it came to girls but Nandini was not any other girl and made Manik Malhotra nervous to ask her number.When he finally made his mind and tried to ask her,her phone rang much to his irritation.Nandini talked to her parents on phone and immediately bid him bye not leaving any scope for further talking.Manik bid her bye knowing she has to reach hostel on time and left for his home.
