The three of them comfortably inside car, as Manik drived, but comfort seemed to be miles apart. All those happy memories of the five together was now a story of the past! They sat silent, while Dhruv looked out of the window, as the breeze soothed his pale face.
"How do you manage Dhruv? I mean how do you even do this? Sorting every issue so calmly! I really salute you for being so gentle! So what were you fed in your childhood that you are so paitient? I wanna know. You know what, I doubt you to be an alien! Anyway, now that you managed to calm me down, you will have to come along for the picnic. No Ifs No Buts. By the way, will you be my personal counsellor Dhruv? You have to say yes, or else..." She tickled him as he looked down and held her hands, trying to stop her and quietly followed her. After days had he seen her so lively and happy. She smiled through her eyes, her gestures today. He felt happy seeing her happy. She, his friend, perhaps one of those people who knew everything about him before he himself knew about himself.
"The fuel tank will be vacant in no time", spoke Manik, breaking the eerie silence. Just then the car stopped and won't ply any further. Manik decided to fill the bottle kept at the back with petrol. As he walked with Dhruv, her memories seemed to haunt her, she his beautiful friend, one the most precious people in his life.
"No Manik! This is a longer route. We can reach the petrol pump using the shotcut through the forest! Why the hell are you being such a Moron? You know what people like you are called in Hindi? Bheegi Billi!" She rolled her eyes as he chuckled, "Not everyone can be Jangli Billi like you, you see". She pushed him hard, in order to make him walker faster. "This is so boring! My mood is spoiled now, all thanks to Cabir's stupid car! He is of no help, nor is his car. Now move it Manik or are you planning to spend all the time here, wandering on streets and wasting time?" She leaned over him and he walked a bit faster than before.
"Where are you going Manik, we reached the Petrol Pump already", came Dhruv's voice and he looked around. As they got the bottle filled, they remembered her little mischieves.
"Isn't that guy hot? Manik, Dhruv...are you both even listening?" she narrowed her eyes. "Oh Come on, tell me about just one guy whom you don't find hot" retorted Manik. "Are you challenging me? Then let me think...Umm...Yeah! I don't find...no he is hot too...Okay I will tell you! But let me make that guy fall for me first." She approached that stranger and her antics made Dhruv and Manik laugh to death. Manik and Dhruv returned to the car where the other four were eagerly waiting for Petrol more than anything else and they drove till the petrol pump. She was sitting beside another boy now, trying to trap him with her intoxicating self, when Cabir poked his nose and ruined her game. "When are you gonna give up this?" he asked, smacking her on her head. "Give up what?", she asked, as innocently as she could. "Oh yeah! Now you are trying to tell me that you were decent enough! You are one crazy head I have ever seen! And one of the most amazing people I have ever seen." He pulled his cheek, while she doubted his intentions, "Why am I being flattered?" He pulled er cheeks again and replied, "So that you know that Me and we are always there for you. You aren't alone, so don't try to do what you tried again or else be ready to be bashed and screwed." Saying so he hugged her as tight as he could, as a lone tear rolled down he eyne. He smiled merrily as she nodded a Yes.
"Guys, the garage!" Cabir cringed at Alya's words. The venue of the nightmare. It was five years of the incident now, but it was still imprinted in their minds as if it had just yesterday.
The Fab 5 sat inside the garage. Cabir played the water drums as if he was playing the drums of the best brand, while Dhruv played the guitar while Alya and Manik were trying to calm themselves after their heated argument. How hard she tried to make everthing normal between her two best friends, she failed everytime. How was she supposed to make them realize in the strength of love? Wasn't she a failure in her love story too? She had loved the wrong person already. She looked around only to find a huge void in Fab 5 yet again. This time it seemed more devastating than Manik and Dhruv's fight. Just then her phone rang and as he heard the voice at the other side, something in her broke into pieces and she could no more bear the pain and finally shouted as loud as she could, letting all her pented emotions out though her tears and shriek.
"Let's not stop here Manik" said Cabir, "I can't bear the pain." Manik could feel a twinge in his heart as he agreed and drove swiftly towards their destination. By the time they had reached, it had started to rain, and so when they stepped out, their tears were well blended with the natiral water making their way through the clouds. Alya took the white bouquet from the backseat, made her way to the stone and kept it affectionately as she read the name carved on it for the upteenth time, "MUKTI TAYLOR"1992 to 1919"
And that one phrase which she had said rang in their ears, "Why the hell are you all so quiet? Why no music? Koi mar gaya hai kya?" And all the four of them faintly smiled sharing a mutual thought, "If there is No You, there would be No Music".
And with that, they lost their music.
