One of television's busiest couples, Hiten and Gauri Tejwani are going to get busier with Nach Baliye 2 added to their list of shows, The couple is expected to work round the clock. Says Hiten, "My working hours go up to 12-13 hours but now we will have more hours to put in. But I'm enjoying it because it's a different experience from the soaps that we've been doing so far. We've never done reality television before."
In an attempt to balance her personal and professional life, Gauri has cut down on her soaps. "She's in Kaisa Yeh Pyarr Hai. But I'm there in several other soaps, mainly in Kyunkii Saas Bhi kabhie Bahu Thi. I was introduced in it eight months after it started and I've been there right through. I admit it has helped me grow as an actor."
With both husband and wife working in serials Hiten admits there's no time for the couple to be together. "Sometimes when there's an early pack-up, Gauri and I do go out. Once in a while we do plan something after work. But that's rarity," he says.
Reminiscing about his first meeting with Gauri he says, "We first shot an ad together. Then we did Kutumbh together. That's when we fell in love. Long hours of working together has its advantages. It's good to be in the same profession because then your wife knows what your work entails and why you need to put in so many hours."
But, their long working hours has Hiten worried about their future. "We plan on starting a family. Gauri is very career-driven. But she knows whenever we start a family she'll have to sacrifice her career. In fact my wife has already cut down on her work on television. If we were both working for the same number of hours it wouldn't have been possible for us to do Nach Baliye 2."
Hiten believes that he isn't much of a dancer. "Neither my wife nor I are dancers. In fact, we're both equally bad at it. But you never know. We're putting in our hundred per cent. The rest is up to the judges and audiences," he says.
Even after marriage Hiten continues to get a lot of female attention. "I'm not boasting. But people like my company. I try to talk to all my fans. Of course the attention can be unnerving too…like there was this fan who called at a particular time every evening and used to ask me personal questions."
Besides his television commitments, he has just finished a film called Anwar directed by Manish Jha.
