Out of 'Kahiin To Hoga' out of Parivaar

Rajeev Khandelwal has not been invited to the Star Parivar awards. When we asked Rajeev the reason for his exclusion, he says, "I have not been invited." Khandelwal further points out that , "The fact that I had not been invited was conveyed to me on the sets. I was told that the new Sujal, Gurpreet Singh, had received an invitation. It's okay. It's Sujal who has been invited, I guess."
Would he have come otherwise, we ask --- "Yes. I would have certainly been there for Shabbir, Chaitanya, Aamna, Deepak Parasher and all my other co-actors. I have spent some great moments with them and I cannot forget those," he says. Is he hurt, especially by the fact that he has not been nominated in any category, not even a nomination as the 'Best Jodi' with Aamna? He says, "That's the channel's call. I resppect that."Think of it, it would be little funny to see Aamna sitting there without Rajeev? "It won't be funny. Aamna will be sitting with Gurpreet," he points out.

In an era when one serial makes you a star with an 'attitude', it comes as a surprise when a leading star of a tele serial decides to let it all go only due to 'creative differences'. That too when the show is doing well. But Rajiv Khandelwal, who walked out of Kahiin to hoga has no regrets. "I couldn't understand the logic why the character behaved the way he was made to. And if you can't understand the logic, you can't perform well. I am being a bit selfish but having seen the serial at the peak of its popularity, I realised there was no point in hanging around when it already seems to be dragging," he says.

"Serials are meant for entertainment but sports and books should be taken up for one's entertainment as well. Instead of watching why Sujal slapped Kashish, children should watch information-based channels," he maintains.

Interestingly, Rajiv has spent five summers in Ahmedabad. "I completed my boards and B Sc from St Xaviers. I really miss having those maska buns and chai! On a recent visit I met up with the larriwalahs near my college and was delighted to find that all of them remembered me," he says.

A documentary filmmaker turned actor, Rajiv says he would rather wait for the right film than take up any of the numerous offers. " I would rather do an A-grade serial than a B grade film," he says. Now he is busy doing a telly-serial by veteran filmmaker Ketan Mehta. "There is so much to learn from him," says Rajiv.

We couldn't help but ask him about his 'x-effect' on girls. "Well, so far they ran after my on-screen character, how many would want to run after Rajiv, I don't know," is his smart reply.

I left Kahiin To Hoga because the character was not making sense to me, it wasn't what I envisioned. If I wasn't convinced about the character, then how could I convince audiences? Ultimately, I think an actor has to believe in what he's doing.

What people don't understand is that this wasn't an overnight step for me. It took six to seven months, I discussed with everyone in the channel that I was clueless where I was going with the character. I tried my level best to perform and listen to other voices. But I don't want to work for the sake of working.

I wasn't creating problems, but I believe that it is possible to make things intelligently, even if it's a TV serial. I didn't want complacency setting in with my roles, even though I'd heard that it happens with the pace of soaps. It was the love and affection that I got from people that made me cautious.

Every actor is responsible for his character; you just can't be frivolous about it. Even if the character is someone else's creation, the actor who has played it for two years knows at least ten per cent of what it's all about.

Taking this decision was the most difficult step. (The character) Sujal has made my life; not being him is a nightmare. I'm losing so much money and people are bound to forget me; I'm not Mr Bachchan. I'm a one-serial, small-time actor. But playing the character without honesty is a much bigger crime.

Sujal had become a demi-god and I needed to play him religiously and with responsibility.

I never thought that I would be so moralistic – I'm a normal actor with selfish interests. But whenever I've gathered strength, I've always stood up. I've had showdowns while growing up over things I've believed in. I can't be unjust to myself.

It's taken a lot out of me to take this decision. I'm glad that I could stand up to my own principles and not get cowed down by worldly acquisitions. Now I know that if I succeed in life, it will be very sweet.

Kahin toh hogas main protagonist Rajeev Khandelwal ,who plays sujal is quitting the serial😭 and is all set to make it to the big screen .Do you think he will make it into the movies ?

SheetalM : Rajeev Khandelwal leaving the serial is a major set back because 👏many people including me watches this serial only because of him .I think that this move of his is very irrational(IM GONNA KILL THIS BABE!!!!!),as he dosent have the calibre to become an actor on the big screen and as a result he may lose out on both.

Bhavika V: I think it is a rational move and the serial will not be affected 😡(IM STILL THINKIN IF THIS DAME WUD SEE OUR SITES).The audience now is very receptive to the idea of many actors playing one character (I THINK SHE WAS TALKIN OF MIHIR....BUT DEAR THERE IS A DIFFERENCE HERE .....WE ARE TALKIN BOUT THE SUJAL GAREWAL ...NOT JUST ANY CHARACTER).I think he is a hero material and will do well in movies .(THE ONLY POINT I AGREE TO)

Rajiv M: The serial will be terribly affected .Drop in TRPs and Profit (WELL SAID BHAI !!!!!) 😆He is a youth icon for the television viewers 😛(TOO GOOD !!!) .When it comes to movies i dont think he is hero material .He is just right for soap operas .

I think they asked the question all wrong ....Even i dont know if rajeev will click in films ...but he is the king of television ..one thing which we all unianimously agree upon .......as they say it is better to be a king in the well then be lost in the sea ....

Ekta gets a thumbs down from hitList

We're surprised by Ekta Kapoor's dictum. She has posted a signboard at the location of her shooting which says that none of her actors should talk to the press. Unless it has been fixed up by a PR hired by her, or she has personally given the approval.

Coming from Ekta, who is always accessible to the press, this comes as a rude shock. Obviously, the lady does not preach what she practices. The last time we looked, we were still a free country.

And the freedom of speech is something that no self-respecting person will give up without a fight. So be prepared for a revolt. And also look up the old history books. It might be interesting to read about what happened to the last dictator.

well im sure ur gonna like this one...looks like more people hate her..and its the media..so lets look out for ekta anti-reviews in the paper frm now on😃
