So not that it’s worth reasoning with people who’ve slurped the kool-aid fully, but let’s dismantle the brainless GoT dragons analogy nevertheless.

1) GoT is a show in the FANTASY genre. It does not combine saas bahu drama with fantasy creatures. I’m not even going to get into the level of bad CGI because that’s a whole seperate level of mess. But on a fundamental level, this brainless argument that people enjoy dragons in GoT so they should venerate naagins and Makkhis automatically is 😕.

I personally don’t even consider GoT a perfect show worth venerating but to use its two dragons as an excuse to justify super shitty desi naagin shows is way beyond laughable.

What amazing gaslighting by the ITV industry. To actually claim that people only mock these shows because of blind adoration for Western shows. LOL instead of acknowledging your own flaws, how convenient it is to play victim and claim people are “unfairly” judging you. ROFL

Truly next level marketing fake out.

2) The justification that ppl watch these shows out of “nostalgia” for “bachpan ki lok kathaayein” LOL ....bachpan ki lok kathaayein did not have bahus becoming makkhis as far as I recall, but sure.

To actually claim that this is some extension of Amar Chitra Katha that people are watching is actually an insult to ACK.

This is like saying ppl have nostalgia for LOTR so ppl are free to transplant the story into a saas bahu drama and that is all ok cuz “nostalgia” 🙄🙄.

3) India does have a rich set of folklore to pull stories from. Instead of doing justice to these amazingly creative stories, you present them in a tacky mindless fashion and then try to JUSTIFY yourselves? Wow some gall these folks have. First you disrespect your own rich culture heritage and then blame the audience for being too blindly worshipful of western shows? Lol sure....in your fragile ego state, that can be the only reason anyone would mock a bahu turning makkhi or a devar turning Naag 🙄🙄.

Do these ppl even hear themselves? 😂. That is some special Kool-aid they’re all drunk on en-masse. They can keep passing the script around and regurgitating the same tired arguments. It won’t change the truth.

Once again, the show continues to miss the boat. Instead of showing a self-aware TV actor, they choose to go the route of glorifying the brainless scripts. Superb.

For what it’s worth, even GoT actors don’t justify the crazy stuff with such earnest delusion. ITV actors and makers need to learn a little of that....you want to craft a fantasy? Go for it. But please don’t try to make it sound like you’re doing social service one step away from winning a Nobel prize for “magic” 🙄🙄

I was all around appreciating the show and today only this happened but I guess Sandip also co produce kavach and is a close friend of Ekta so I think to defend his friend he added that justification part coz he knew that mostly logical viewers who give priority to script are watching this show so he thought to whitewash the producers like Ekta and Rashmi and I really get feeling that Netra is inspired from Ekta only!

Or do they watch this stuff to make fun of it?

Either way, that doesn’t constitute actual success when the content has zero substance.

People watch masala Bollywood films for escapism too but the most they’ll do is try to mouth dialogues or ape the style of a character. They don’t get feels from friggin snakes and lizards in the guise of “entertainment”.

The argument is skewed. In scraping at the bottom line, ITV has deliberately decided to avoid even acknowledging how far they’ve lowered the collective IQ of the masses. Cuz hey, how does it matter as long as people watch asinine things for whatever reason. Eyeballs = Money. Btw even murders can get you eyeballs, so please go ahead and start live murdering people on TV cuz hey, if people watch it, that makes it “entertainment” justified so 👏.

This is why I said what I said.

As I said what sonakshi said was lame but people would not be making such serials if there is no market for. That’s why every Thursday you have several forums discussing the trp of their show in great details.

And if you don’t even get what manufactured hype is, not sure what else to say here smiley36.

I’m trying a valid argument for the reason why such shows are popular but you are insisting on talking down to me.

I have said my bit no point in arguing about it further.

This isn’t only about Sandeep Sickand whitewashing this. Almost every TV actor talks like this about Naagin shows now. So either they say it to appease powerful producers or they have been “convinced” of this “logic” by the producers just like Sonakshi convinced Rohit yesterday with her lame dragon analogy 😆.

I just find it laughable that they expect everyone to buy it. In their own bubble it can make sense to them but a real world exists out there that isn’t as stupid as they presume.

As for Netra, if she is inspired from Ekta, she seems like a nicer version of her. Lol I can’t imagine Ekta being this affable with most of her employees. Her tyrant image is legendary since many years.

I tried responding to your points but you insisted on generalizing and fixating on the same old tired argument of these shows are made because people watch them.

If you still think I’m talking down to you, can’t help you there. I made my point as best as I could manage. I’m sure you can find more respectful ppl to talk to on this forum if you are so offended by my way of talking.

Have a nice day.

But ekta really supports her favourites and Sona seems to be favourite of Netra but ya Netra is more down to earth.

Sonakshi's justification was just too much. And I didn't like that dragon analogy that they used to justify naagins and stuff. Her show is Kahaani Parvati Ki and they have a naag randomly appear in the story. It's one thing to show a pure fantasy show with fantasy creatures that are crafted into a well-narrated story and another thing to randomly bring all sorts of creatures into a show to bring twists and turns.

Rohit starting to buy into Sonakshi's justification is all the worse; it would have been better if they showed Rohit counter her argument. At this rate, I hope Rohit doesn't become a KPK fan. They should just focus on Rohit understanding and coming to appreciate Sonakshi instead of TV serials. It isn't necessary that he needs to accept the show or buy into her justification in order to fall in love with her.

Agree with everything you mentioned...

If i may add my 2 cents:

As far as i am concerned i am irritated by sheer audacity itv makers have to take audiences intelligence for granted...every show started with some unique content whether drama, revenge, thriller etc but after few months these shows are either going for saas bahu route or supernatural ..every show is churning the same sh*t again n again...one thing that stands out for western shows that they usually maintain the genre of their show...

as far as liking the western shows ..there are so many aspects for which GoT was criticized especially writing for the last season...

big production houses instead of doing something new or exploring the unknown paths, they keep on justifying themselves n blaming the people...

Such shows are on air because they honestly work *sigh*

Nagin was made because a track of ichadari nagin from sasural simar ka actually garnered high trps. It was aired on weekends where the show had virtually no competition. It was aggressively marketed, posters on railways and subways and buses, prime time ad spots, actors cross promoting on shows like kapil sharma and other high trp shows. Ads in newspapers and magazines, interviews and saas bahu segments. All directed first at the rural hindi belt. And lets be honest, those who enjoyed the show did not enjoy it for logic. And it came before jio. 🤷🏾‍♀️ So i guess this was a better alternative than dance shows or sooryavansham at whatever o clock on weekends.

And since this made money, ctrl c- ctrlv.

Edit:And I guess the guy who is making this show is a friend of Ekta's. So ofc he is going to spoon feed us this bs. Even the lead actress previously acted in a nonsensical drama. Now if Ekta really believes this bs everyone is saying, I cannot tell. That lady is straight up delusional. But she is a good businesswoman.

@bold: EXACTLY.

It only took three weeks for Rohit to go from being horrified at the dumbness of these shows to passively accepting bs justifications from Sonakshi like a chump 👏😆

Record nahin toda in Logon ne of how quickly shows go downhill. Must commend them for that 👏
