Having said that, unfortunately, there is a big market for these shows. We can curse her to kingdom come but Ekta Kapoor really knows the pulse of the audience. Yes it’s about the money but how do they earn money, by getting higher trps. In this case it’s a simple matter of demand & supply. I mean just watch some of her web series.

She started the trend of saas bahu & then the nagin series. Since these 2 became so popular that every other serial was doing the same. Over the years there have been a handful of shows that have defied the trend but soon closed shop.

20 years ago, Ekta used to justify saas-bahu series by saying this is the drama that happens in every house, hence an audience for it.

20 years later, in the present, Ekta says that ppl are nostalgic for folk tales and voodoo, so a bazillion series on naagins and kaala jaadu now have an audience.

20 years from now, Ekta will say that Earth audience is passé, let’s make shows for ALIENS, make the bahu an “ichhadhaari alien” because 20 years of Naagins wasn’t “nostalgic” enough.

There is no end to asinine logic especially for a businesswoman who will say anything to sell her product. Doesn’t make it the truth of society as a whole.

Ekta caters to perverse human psychology in various forms. By her logic, 90% of desi audience is perverted, despo or repressed. Take your pick.

Having an audience for this stuff doesn’t make it “normal”. Unless perversion is considered normal, then sure. 😆

Unfortunately this is the truth about ITV. People want to see these things. Look at this forum itself. The highest ranking serial right now is kzk. There is absolutely no logic in that show but still the online audience love it so does the trp audience.

You & I are a small part of the audience. They don’t really cater to us. If we want see something realistic better to watch all the web series.

The producer of this show is part of EK stable. He’s not going to diss her shows outright.

End of the day it’s all about the moolah.

I don’t have many expectations but so far they haven’t shown the premise of Rohit falling for her convincingly. Randomly staring at her every two seconds just as she’s talking Naag naagins isn’t my idea of a great story.

They could have focused more on her talking about how she’s trying to compete her education. Instead they spent 10 min showing her justifying an asinine naag plot line so earnestly 🤷‍♀️. They could have laughed together about the absurdity, but no...she’s fully indoctrinated herself. No helping her. He will follow soon. Lol Jai ho ITV Kool-Aid.

You may be right. I was cringing so bad during the scene, I may have superimposed my embarrassment onto her😳

And yes, they could have laughed together at the absurdity....that would have been awesome. It's still early days, there's time to correct things. But then, the producer is an old Balaji stalwart...🤷🏻‍♀️

Not shocking at all. My batch mates from the medical fraternity not only watch those shows but also enjoy them. The logical audience is voluntarily going for the illogical stuff. Don't know where that'll take ITV in the next few years!😔

I disagree. These forums are nowhere close to their heydays. What KZK2 has is manufactured hype. In its heydays, even the most average show on IF had more forum traffic than that. So that is hardly the measure of anything.

People are confused between manufactured hype and actual success.

Oh so your medical batchmates are the mysterious audience that gets “ bachpan ki lok katha feels” from Naag devars? 😆

Or do they watch this stuff to make fun of it?

Either way, that doesn’t constitute actual success when the content has zero substance.

People watch masala Bollywood films for escapism too but the most they’ll do is try to mouth dialogues or ape the style of a character. They don’t get feels from friggin snakes and lizards in the guise of “entertainment”.

The argument is skewed. In scraping at the bottom line, ITV has deliberately decided to avoid even acknowledging how far they’ve lowered the collective IQ of the masses. Cuz hey, how does it matter as long as people watch asinine things for whatever reason. Eyeballs = Money. Btw even murders can get you eyeballs, so please go ahead and start live murdering people on TV cuz hey, if people watch it, that makes it “entertainment” justified so 👏.

Do these people really think the audience goes to bed dreaming about their preposterous plots? In which episode of... lets say Kzk am I supposed to find a bachpan se Judi yaad?😕

Yeah but you are probably not the target audience for those type of shows. Like I personally don't agree with Sonakshi's justifications but obviously a big contingent of the audience find those types of shows appealing for "some" reason. Reasonable intelligent shows rarely last on ITV nowadays but the crazy ridiculous supernatural ones or the saas Bahu drama do.

I really love this show tbh but i cannot agree with Sonakshi's words. More than a justification it was more like a manipulation. She said that enjoy when two dragons fight well if some day ITV reaches the level of GOT we may start liking it. Each and every supernatural show starts with a unique but most of them gets ruined !!! I dont find the logic. I mean if producers are so keen to entertain audience with supernatural or i say folklore elements then they should maintain a quality of the story and make it finite. I feel only Sab's Alladin naam toh suna hoga is the only quality maintaining show ! Nazar started with a different motive and turned into a bullshit saas bahu saga, naagin franchise is getting butchered each and every seasons. Now Ekta is trying to bring Sci Fi genre (One of the fav genre) as Haiwaan in Zee Tv. I just hope it works well and changes the mindset of Indian audience. Once Sci Fi genre hits they will surely expand this genre more sidelining the supernatural genre.

What is manufactured hype? All those people going gaga over anupre are similar to the ones who even today keep arshi alive. What a jerk he was but still people were going crazy about him.

Yes traffic has reduced but not because of less viewers but because of several other social media platforms.

Pls don’t paint all the trp viewers as dumb. They watch because they like such stories & we can rant about all the idiocy of such shows. They are on air because people want to see them.

When did I call TRP viewers dumb? I talked about the ideology of ITV makers and it’s exploitation of human psychology.

And if you don’t even get what manufactured hype is, not sure what else to say here 😆.

I’m really not interested in any analysis of why KZK2 is #1 in online ratings🥱. I’m sure there’s a seperate forum for that.
