Today we saw Padma offering support to Jyoti and offering her to come home - hugs and kisses were abundant.
Has Padma really changed?

No, none of her expressions should be taken @ face value. In the past too, when she wanted Jyoti for the phagware rasam, she apologized for her behavior, but reverted to form later.

For her, Jyoti & Sudha always were and always will be her STEP-kids. I was happy at the prospect of both of them becoming Vashisths and Padma getting the house to herself. I can't stand the idea of Jyoti continuing to serve her, or be helped by her.

i dunno...i feel she's slowly changing. especially after how much jyoti has done for sushma, padma's real child. though, having said that, i sometimes feel that just after sudha got married and settled down in the vashisht household, padma came across as slightly jealous that her two step-daughters married rich whereas as her own, sushma, had suffered so much at the hands of her husband and was now back at her maayka.
i do hope she changes. she's a doting mother to her real kids, and if she was the same way with jyoti and sudha, it'd be so lovely to see.
besides, dramas are a form of escapism. if society believes that step-parents can never provide step-children with the love that biological parents do it would be unrealistic to show otherwise. however, equally, we need to be shown things that sometimes go against the unwritten rules or norms in society in hopes that it can encourage better thinking.

Padma has changed to a great extent but still when her kids , her hubby and dhaadhi talk abt Jyoti, the camera shows her with an evil look on her face as though she has got something planned to ruin Jyoti's future. I guess the only reason why she does that odd face is that she cud only wish her own daughter Sushma had such respect from the rest of the family. They do but they dont tell that as much as they do for Jyoti. Padma is practical and I guess she is more worried about how to manage the big family with the little salary that Deepu gets. The rest of the family dont know much about the current recession trend and they keep telling each other "sab kuch teek hojaayega" as if they know what's written for tomorrow. lol.

In that aspect, CM is actually ideal - she's Pankaj's kaki, not step-mom, even though Pankaj calls her choti-ma, and yet, she loves him more than Uday or Minal. Similarly, Pankaj's parents treat Uday & Minal as their own kids, and now, they love Sudha more than CM does. They don't have to love Sudha more than Jyoti.

If society wants to be inspired to think that people other than parents can be better relatives, then the Vashisths are a role model, while the Sharmas suck. MN&G turned out to be far better parents to Jyoti, and even Sudha, than KK&P. If CM didn't have that superficial aspect about her, she'd have been a role model as well. OTOH, I don't think anybody should have parents/grandparents like KK, Padma or Dadi.

Seeing today's episode, looks like Padma has not changed, and for me, that's no surprise. She kept bitching about the reputation of the family as a result of the actions of all the 3 daughters.

But when Sushma was brought back home finally, Padma didn't think about the family reputation at all, did she? So why now? My theory - after Sudha's marriage, she finally had the house to herself - no step-kids, and suddenly, Jyoti is back. Gotta hurt.

I do hope Deepu & Sushma settle down fast, and that ultimately, Jyoti finds a new guy and is out of there again.
