A bit disappointed

So after much anticipation the day finally arrived for the first episode of the much awaited Hrithik Roshan's new dance show 'Just Dance'. However, when I finally watched the episode, I've got to say, I was disappointed.

First of all, in the ads and promos of the show it said that the show will start on june 18th, so i was actually expecting the actual show to start today. I wasnt aware at all they were just showing the auditions and the selection process right now. I mean, if that was the case then in the promos they could have clearly stated that starting june 18th they will be showing the auditions and then from so and so date the actual show will air. today was the first episode and today was just half of the Delhi audition. Being that this is supposed to be a show of international level with auditions in other major international cities as well as the entire nation I am going to assume that there will be at least a couple more episodes showing the auditions. There's nothing wrong with showing the auditions on TV, I enjoy the audition process as well. I just wish Star TV was honest about it in the first place because I was literally counting down the days and as soon I woke up today I was constantly reminding my brother 'just dance is starting today', only to be surprised to find out that we weren't given the complete information and that the actual show was not airing today.

Even after I got past that disappointment, there was another one. Especially in the beginning there was way too many unnecessary special effects (that they werent even good quality). It was so obvious that in the beginning when they show Vaibhavi and Farah on stage there was no fan and the part with fans were later added with the help of the computer. It all looked fake. There was a lot of unnecessary acting in the show. They were unnecessary because they took up valuable air time when we could have instead seen some more dances, and plus this is a reality show. Like the part where they showed a girl (an actress for the video, not a real contestant) not getting selected and she comes out of the audition hall all disappointed and going to cry, then she sees hrithik on tv saying that its ok and not to give up and she smiles and gets up. I mean, these things are pretty unnecessary considering that its a reality show. I know its for good reasons, but if such a scenario occurs (and we all know it will occur a lot) then it is the job of the judges and the host to encourage them to not give up. Hearing encouraging words from your idol that you look up to is more effective than a pre-recorded video.

I hope once the actual show starts, the stage won't be as blindingly flashy as it was today. The lightning was too much and way too distracting. But other than that, I liked some of the dances and totally agree with the judges judgement. Vaibhavi totally surprised me (this time its good surprise) with her awesome performance in the beginning on the show. It was great and I really enjoyed it. I can't wait to start watching the actual show and obviously will continue watching it. I hope the show gets better than this episode and I kinda have a feeling that it will. So lets just wait and see.

PS: I wish the judges would stop calling this show the greatest dance show in India. Dude, the show hasn't even started. They've only just started airing the auditions, so like I said before, we still have some time to go before we get to see the real show. Once the show starts, then we the viewers can judge if it really is India's best dance show. However, to make such claims at this stage is very premature. Such a huge title is for the fans and the viewers to judge.

Hey There !

I totally second your opinion. I was baffled when I saw them showing auditions, and since the promo's never talked about airing auditions, I thought the show is skipping that part and starting straight away.

And even if your are showing auditions, we want to see dance, and not the life story and tear-saga's of the contestants, I don't think any one of us is interested in that. So yeah, cut that out.

And if they more than 2 hours for just one city's audition, so should we expect it to be a month or so before the actual show starts...?
And I totally agree about the stage being just soo flashy. And the team trying to overdo the charm of the show. If the show is the best and biggest, then it will prove itself, re-iterating it is not going to help.

Let's see. I have lots and lots of hope from the show. And I shall sound totally phan-gurlish when I say, I am waiting for the day he actually come :)

Cheers !

well even I think the same... they already showed a part of the auditions last week, so i thought the show is going to start with the mains from today... but...

and in the beginning, the special effects were so clearly visible... hope this doesn't happen in the actual galas!

anyways, i loved some of the contestants... they were pretty good!!

lets see whts in store for us!

I don't think Star plus made any claims that the main show will start today, every dance show starts with auditions so why should this show be any different. I personally loved Hrithik's performance in the beginning, so good to see him dancing again 😊

about the show starting today, umm i think when it means the show is starting it starts with the audition epis only, but i am not sure, Anyways auditions are also a part of the show.
For the beginning the show was really hyped i guess, some of the contestants are good, but i think i have seen some of them before in some other auditions. Unfortunately i didnt get HQ videos of todays epi, like DVDQ in a single link and i couldn't watch it properly. So it is possible my disappointment stems from not getting to watch it in proper Q. But i do agree with you, i am a little disappointed. But i am hopeful, the beginnings are always like this and shows pick up after a few epis.
However i was really impressed with contestant like Dinnath and the fact that the age limit is a bit higher. donot know how high it is, but i saw a 30 yr old contestant and she definitely was good.

Well, most of the time, when a dance show starts, they start with the auditions. If you have seen shows like So You Think You Can Dance or Indian wise, Dance India Dance, then you would see that they all start with auditions, so you can get a grasp of who you like and the process of how the contestants made it to that point where they are part of the show.

The hype is done by most reality shows. That's how they get people's attention. So, most people end up watching it and get disappointed.

I haven't seen the episode yet, since it hasn't aired in the U.S. So, I can't judge on the stage and the special effects that they did.

Every reality show starts with auditions, so I am surprised to even hear (read) these comments. Also, the commercials (at least here in US) said, come and watch who got selected from US.
