Farah and Vaibhavi think they are god's gift to dance. They have too much ego in comparision to their skills. They need people skills and humbleness. They should watch US reality shows to see how judges behave

Well, most of the time, when a dance show starts, they start with the auditions. If you have seen shows like So You Think You Can Dance or Indian wise, Dance India Dance, then you would see that they all start with auditions, so you can get a grasp of who you like and the process of how the contestants made it to that point where they are part of the show.

The hype is done by most reality shows. That's how they get people's attention. So, most people end up watching it and get disappointed.

I haven't seen the episode yet, since it hasn't aired in the U.S. So, I can't judge on the stage and the special effects that they did.

well ya, obviously every dance show and for that matter singing shows too begin with auditions. You're absolutely right. Otherwise, without any auditions how would they get the contestants for the show. All these type of reality shows always show the audition process before the actual show starts. however on the TV promos when they say that the show is starting at this date, it usually means the actual show is starting on that date. Atleast thats been my previous experience with shows like So you think you can dance, America's best dance crew, and DID Doubles in India. In fact, when i used to live in the US i used to vote a lot for my fav contestants in So you think you can dance and America's best dance crew (dunno if they do it differently now). its just a common knowledge that the auditions precede the actual show, so when promos say that the show is starting on a certain day then it usually means that the audition process will be shown prior to it. In this case, all the promos kept showing that the show was starting on June 18th when it was only the auditions starting then. They weren't clear enough.

Promos didn't show any contestants performing, so how can one assume that show is starting on June 18th, all the promos i had seen, had Audition process shown, so i knew what i was expecting.

I don't mean to barge in but I totally agree with what dmgmjht4ever said. Almost all reality shows are like this, particularly those based on dancing and singing. I would have thought it odd if the audition were not shown, really. In fact, in shows like American Idol about 10 one-hour episodes pass by just in the auditioning process. I think, in Just Dance, they're only going to show the cities that did particularly well, though, and show the other cities briefly just for the sake of mentioning.

& they're not going to show every person who auditioned! Just the ones which stood out, some dramatics and some funnies, most probably. And... if people expect the history of the ones that stood out to not be shown, they'll be sorely disappointed. I've had to bear with an almost birthing video in a reality show once. >_> Bringing your families from your grandparents to distant relatives, talking about the past, sure bring it on! But not your wife who is delivering your baby. '.'

People will just have to remain smarter, not get manipulated by all this and vote for the people who are good and only (ONLY) root for and sympathise with the ones who have had bad pasts.

& about the pre-recored video, even this happens on an international basis. I agree that they must have made someone act this part out but it does generally relate to the concept. You should see the extremely played out ones that make you yawn for a full 10 minutes on some shows. I haven't seen the show yet either so I don't know about the rest, but what you've mentioned so far, the gimmicks, the dragging, they're fairly standard material in reality shows abroad. A majority of shows pick up after the final selection has been done by the judges and the voting starts. So, happy watching then.😃

& I agree with your P.S. That's true. Such claims almost always lead to people having high expectations which are not met most of the time.

So after much anticipation the day finally arrived for the first episode of the much awaited Hrithik Roshan's new dance show 'Just Dance'. However, when I finally watched the episode, I've got to say, I was disappointed.

First of all, in the ads and promos of the show it said that the show will start on june 18th, so i was actually expecting the actual show to start today. I wasnt aware at all they were just showing the auditions and the selection process right now. I mean, if that was the case then in the promos they could have clearly stated that starting june 18th they will be showing the auditions and then from so and so date the actual show will air. today was the first episode and today was just half of the Delhi audition. Being that this is supposed to be a show of international level with auditions in other major international cities as well as the entire nation I am going to assume that there will be at least a couple more episodes showing the auditions. There's nothing wrong with showing the auditions on TV, I enjoy the audition process as well. I just wish Star TV was honest about it in the first place because I was literally counting down the days and as soon I woke up today I was constantly reminding my brother 'just dance is starting today', only to be surprised to find out that we weren't given the complete information and that the actual show was not airing today.

Even after I got past that disappointment, there was another one. Especially in the beginning there was way too many unnecessary special effects (that they werent even good quality). It was so obvious that in the beginning when they show Vaibhavi and Farah on stage there was no fan and the part with fans were later added with the help of the computer. It all looked fake. There was a lot of unnecessary acting in the show. They were unnecessary because they took up valuable air time when we could have instead seen some more dances, and plus this is a reality show. Like the part where they showed a girl (an actress for the video, not a real contestant) not getting selected and she comes out of the audition hall all disappointed and going to cry, then she sees hrithik on tv saying that its ok and not to give up and she smiles and gets up. I mean, these things are pretty unnecessary considering that its a reality show. I know its for good reasons, but if such a scenario occurs (and we all know it will occur a lot) then it is the job of the judges and the host to encourage them to not give up. Hearing encouraging words from your idol that you look up to is more effective than a pre-recorded video.

I hope once the actual show starts, the stage won't be as blindingly flashy as it was today. The lightning was too much and way too distracting. But other than that, I liked some of the dances and totally agree with the judges judgement. Vaibhavi totally surprised me (this time its good surprise) with her awesome performance in the beginning on the show. It was great and I really enjoyed it. I can't wait to start watching the actual show and obviously will continue watching it. I hope the show gets better than this episode and I kinda have a feeling that it will. So lets just wait and see.

PS: I wish the judges would stop calling this show the greatest dance show in India. Dude, the show hasn't even started. They've only just started airing the auditions, so like I said before, we still have some time to go before we get to see the real show. Once the show starts, then we the viewers can judge if it really is India's best dance show. However, to make such claims at this stage is very premature. Such a huge title is for the fans and the viewers to judge.

Almost all reality shows begin with the audition process, so it wasn't much of a surprise there. Airing auditions is crucial to the success of any reality show because it ensures that the audience sets their favorites in mind before voting starts. Having favorites ahead of time compels people like us to keep watching and getting hooked on the show, meanwhile maintaining it's popularity and viewership. I watched online videos, so it was very easy for me to forward through the flashy and annoying clips that we were forced to watch in the first episode.

The introduction of the three judges at the beginning was ANNOYING! I like Farah and Vaibhavi (loved her dance!) a lot, and I have high hopes that they will be entertaining judges on the show. They gel well together from what I've seen so far, so I think it'll get better as the show goes on. I believe Hrithik is only there to attract more audience and to serve as eye candy (which I'm sure he'll easily manage).

The pre-recorded video that you're referring to about the girl crying - I believe (from what I understood) that was a part of the music video that they were showing for the folks in Delhi. The girl crying and then watching Hrithik dance on TV was all a part of the music video. It was not meant to be real.

And lastly, reality shows these days are more or less mutual admiration societies for the judges, so such extensive praise for Hrithik and the show was not surprising. I am starting to get annoyed with the never ending praise for Hrithik's dancing however. Granted he is immensely good looking and a talented actor, but the whole god-of-dance title is pushing it in my opinion. I hope that the Hrithik craze will die down once the show picks up in the coming weeks (at least one can hope, right?).

I don't see why he should not be praised for his dance. I don't think he is just there for eye candy, I am sure he will be a good judge maybe not harsh but definitely encouraging. I believe he did play a role in selecting the final contestants so I don't see how that's eye candy.

He is in a way a God of dancing in India, he is one of the best in India, though he might not think so. How many bollywood dancers can dance like him? Infact how many dancers have we seen like him in India? He truly deserves all the praises he gets for his dance because he is am amazing dancer.

I agree with you in some parts, he is an amazing dancer, the little bits and pieces i have seen in the movies and some ads really give an insight to what a powerful dancer he is, and as per the new reports he has done a good job as a judge so, we will have to wait till primary auditions get over to see what is real, in the meantime i can believe he is a good judge.

Also i agree he is one of the best dancer in India, but there have been people before him, there will be people after him who are as good as him, if not better. So i agree with tawashe here, the whole part of god of dancing blah blah just seems adverstising gimmick and overusing of it is making watching the audition a bit annoying at times.
