CHAPTER-19.

Prithvi turned and picked up the ball from the ground,that had just hit him..

Where did this come from?!!He thought to himself in amazement.He had not finished thinking this,when he heard running footsteps coming nearer..

He looked up just in time to see an out of breath Meera standing shocked in front of him..She also looked shocked and also very angry at seeing the ball in his hand..

"You?!What are you doing here?!"She asked in an irritated voice.

Prithvi closed his eyes and took in a slow breath to calm himself..He was scared to take a long breath as he might be affected once again by her fragrance..But he should have known it would all be in vain..As despite his caution,his nostrils which seemed to be extra sensitive to her fragrance,were already hyperactive,and his senses were again engulfed in her special fragrance..His heart started pumping loud and hard,and all his senses seemed to be extra aware,due to her presence.

Talk of temptation,and the temptation is right here!Prithvi thought to himself.

"What did you just say?"Asked an amazed Meera.

Can she read my thoughts too?!Prithvi thought again in amazement,without replying immediately.

The hell I can!!!Thought an irked Meera.

I heard her replying!Prithvi thought in amazement.

"DOST!!!"A childish voice called out.

"Give me the ball."Meera demanded in a furious voice.

"And if I don't?!"something in her attitude rubbed Prithvi the wrong way..He could have given her the ball and left the scene..In fact he should be doing just that!But something kept him rooted to the spot there.

"I said give me that ball!"She snapped at him again.

"And I just said I won't."Prithvi replied in a chilling voice.His temper suddenly rising at the girl's irrational fury at him and also at his own lack of control of his own feelings for the irrationally stubborn girl.

They both stood staring at each other..Meera burning with fury at his refusal to return her the ball,and Prithvi stared back unflinchingly,not backing down an inch.

"I said give me that ball!"She said in between clenched teeth.

"You did.But I did not hear you using the magic word anytime,too."Said Prithvi in a cold voice.

"What magic word?"She replied with a frown.

"Magic words..You never heard of them?!PLEASE,SORRY,THANK YOU.."

"Oh..But why should I say them to you?!You are so rude and last night you'"Meera drifted away and colored with embarrassment.

Suddenly on being reminded of last night Prithvi's anger melted away,and an uncontrollable heat engulfed him..

"Please continue..I'm all ears..Last night,I..?"Prithvi asked as he suddenly started walking towards her,and Meera walked back,step for step..

"DOST!!!Where are you?!!"The child voice called out again..

This time Meera quickly turned to run away,when Prithvi stopped her..

"You can take the ball!"Prithvi said desperate suddenly, to delay her leaving.

"You'll give me the ball?!"Meera asked him in a shocked voice,turning back towards him.

"Yes.Yes,I will."Prithvi quickly reassured her,noticing she was eyeing him and his intentions doubtfully.

"Here.Take it.."He took a step towards her to hand the ball back,and immediately she took a step back.

Is she scared of me?!!Prithvi thought in amazement.I really need to do something about this,then.He thought..Unaware that this thought was exactly opposite of his earlier determined decision of staying away from her.

"I was wondering..If you are really that good at cricket anyway.You know,you being a mere girl..It was cricket you were playing,wasn't it?"Prithvi said in a soft voice,as he handed the ball over to her,and looked at her out of the corner of his eye..

Slowly slowly catch you monkey..Prithvi thought with his fingers crossed..He was sure this unpredictable girl,will never refuse a challenge.

"And what is that supposed to mean?!!"Meera said,now completely turning back again,to face him.

Caught you!!!Prithvi thought with an inner smile,but the fuming Meera was unaware of it in her anger.

"You think,I,being a MERE GIRL cannot play cricket?!!OF ALL THE MALE CHAUVINISTIC-"

"I'm sure you are trying your best.."Prithvi interrupted her outburst fighting hard to hide his smile."I'm sure you'll slowly get better even,though not as good as me!"He finished with false aplomb,to raise her temper further..

"OH REALLY?!!"She said with her eyes turned into slits in anger.

"Yes.Yes of course!"Prithvi replied with an innocent expression."I was my team's cricket captain in college."He reassured her,which was actually the truth.

"Okay.Fine.Mr. TOO GOOD CRICKETER!Let's have a match then!"She challenged him,firming her lips in determination.."Follow me!"She snapped.

YES!!!Caught her!Prithvi cheered himself,as she turned back towards the direction of the field where she had been playing..The thought had not passed his mind,when she stopped in mid track.

"Did you just say something?!"She asked turning her head,looking at him with a doubtful expression.

Oops!She heard me again!Prithvi thought.

"No.Nothing.Why should I say anything?Let's have that match!Let's go!"Prithvi said quickly to distract her..And before she could ask anything else,he walked ahead of her,leading the way..So that Meera was forced to follow him quietly..

Prithvi stopped when he reached an open field,where a young boy of eight or nine,was sitting under the shade of a tree.

"DOST!You took such a long time,dost!What took you so long?!"The kid asked running towards Meera,as soon as he saw her.While Prithvi watched the kid's antic with a smile..

"I was-"

"Who is this man,dost?!Is he your boyfriend from the city?!"...

What is meera wearing???? This was the first question that poped up in my mind along with a slideshow of the basket ball match from kkhh... How romantic!!! So do you my dear have any idea of turning this match in anyway romantic???? I would be delighted if you do it... But i wont push you to do any thing out of your script!!!! Wonderfull job as ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
