Agreed. Jalal is the dispenser of Justice. But why would a judge defend the case when accused are silent. It is always why Jalal didn't do this and that? Why he didn't think like HB? Why didn't Jodha think like HB? Jodha whose chathuraayi was always praised sky high all through the show? Why didn't she think of some defense? If she was not allowed to speak in DEK ( anyway when has she done only what was allowed or permitted? She always barges and butts and declares her opinion come what may) she could have thought about the loop holes and presented the case to HB instead of worrying about diya baati which Moti could have done herself ( unless there is a rule that only royals can do it).

If there was nothing she could do or think of as it was an open and shut case then the same holds for Jalal too. Why blame him if he thinks that the proofs are conclusive enough?

All said and done it cannot be denied that our opinions formed on the rest of the show has made our views decided. My views on the case might have been different in 2013 but given the Jodha i saw later in the show i am only tempted to think - ' oh! Why does this miss know all not prepare her defense.'

Why is Jalal blamed for believing the evidence in front of him. What is there for him to suspect? Why should he believe in Jodha's innocence? But once a different angle was opened he did investigate it to the end. He did as much justice as a man in his place would.

Finding that man who sold the dibbi to the cloaked female was a fluke.

I disagree with your view. There are several lines of investigation that could have been followed-
1 Motive- Who would gain most in this situation? Surely not the Ameris who have already thrown their lot with Jalal. They have everything to lose and very little to gain if the relationship with Jalal breaks. As for honour, that is regained by killing Jalal not his unborn child. What honour is there in the Rajput code of conduct for killing an unborn child. Besides why are the Ameri brothers in Agra as ready scapegoats, they should have been in Amer getting ready to die in the upcoming war with Jalal.

What about the method of poisoning. Such a straightforward pointer of guilt like the vessel used by Jodha to give milk to Ruqs should have raised eyebrows. This screams conspiracy.

All these points should have been considered. What about others?, what about personal enemies of Jalal?, what about eminent villains like Sharif or Adham who have most to gain if Jalal dies childless.

2 The poisoning scenario- The entire sequence of events leading to the poisoning situation should have been reconstructed. Every eye witness should have been examined, not just Maham. In particular the whereabouts of Jodha should have been carefully plotted.

3 The availability of the Poison should have been examined. Who all could get access to it? Again no one did the questioning.

The judge and accuser need not defend the case but give the accused a chance to speak in their own defence maybe? No one is blaming Jalal for believing the evidence but as a judge and jury he should've given them a chance to defend themselves. BTW, even TM got a chance to defend himself in court regardless of the verdict.

Jalal being the Emperor, the onus is on him unfortunately. The person with most power is also the one who is held upto the highest standards and is most accountable.

Anyway, this discussion has the potential of going round and round with no end...

Being a BT show we cannot rule out the possibilities of amnesia and plastic surgeries ( by the Ameri Rajvaidya who was Sushrutha's descendant)😆😆😆

Wonder how they skipped the chance of Akbar losing his memory and Jodha begum doing tapasya to retrieve it and trying all memory retrieval tricks - yeh dekhiye Shahenshah! Hum aise hi naanv mein sair gaye the! Yahi chaand us din bhi tha. (As though there is a different one on other days) yeh chitra dekhiye...aapke swargiya pithashree humayun hain...with a tearfilled HB praising her Jodha beti's efforts. Ruqaiya's screeches will make him forget more and he can most convincingly look like the buddhuram he was. He'll be sitting on the throne admiring the butterflies in the garden while Jodha begum will run the state.🤣

Sandhya, Devki, Hema,

By now, in this post and the even more colourful one above, I can no longer make out the colour codings. But that does not matter when it comes to you,Sandhya my poppet. I can always make out when it is you, and you do Jalal proud, much, much better than I could have done. Good girl! I am with you all the way, my pet!

As I wrote, in 2013, about Jodha's blankness when faced with this horrible situation - lines that were so good that I plan to use them again -

She does not even speculate as to the likely culprit: the contrast with Mansingh is striking. One has to remember that this is not some silly, giggling royal wench like Sukanya. This is Jodha, with the brains of a chess grandmaster and the acuity of mind of a fine duellist. What has happened to all that?

And just one mini-point about the Anne Boleyn trial. That was a rigged affair from beginning to end, with her brothers and friends tortured so brutally that they would have confessed to anything to get it to stop, and the judges tutored to condemn her out of hand. I am glad we did not have that kind of thing here - think what it would have done to Jalal's character! - and I far preferred Jalal to run amok like a furious bull charging.

All this said, my main khunnas against this track is that Rajat's Jalal is just not up to the mark in terms of performance. It is all too OTT, especially in the first Diwan-e-Khaas scene. Remembering how icily ferocious Rajat could make him in the first few episodes, this nose scrunched up avatar is clearly the director's idea. Poor Rajat! I will be glad when this is over, but then the downward slide in Jalal will begin, from an emperor to a Jodha-bhakt. Imperceptibly, at first, but irrevocably, alas! I am still trying to determine when we should bail out, Sandhya, you and I!

Well, having argued ourselves hoarse on this one, let us relax, and look out for my fun Change of perspective post due on Sunday. I guarantee that it will have you all, no matter if you want to skewer Jodha or Jalal right now, rolling in the aisles!

It's very interesting to note that the Begumsa who is 'oh so involved in dusron ki peeda even when she herself is peedith' and thus earning the title of the one who is the most caring, is currently only bothered about 'her brothers' and 'her father' and 'her family' with nary a thought for the father who has lost his unborn child or for the mother who lost hers, and after that one moment where she tells Moti of her 'Sahanubhuti' for Ruqs, she has shown no empathy or empathic anguish for the grieving parents. Even to HB she has not shown any such understanding of the loss and grief of the affected to be parents. Her entire demeanor is that 'this issue is not got anything to do with me except for the accusations on my brothers, father and Amer. Anything else is nothing to me. Your loss is your problem. I'm sorry for you but it's not anything to do with me.'

Looks like you kids have run out of colours!😉

Devki my dear, I loved your

And let me tell you, that track is the only one where even I couldn't stand Jodha.

So now we know where your lakshmanrekha is for Jodha!😉😉 In that track, the person I felt like clobbering was Jalal. It was far worse than here, his total abdication of imperial responsibility, letting his obsessed, self-righteous wife run riot in the Diwan-e-Khaas. She should have had her mouth taped up and been shoved behind that flimsy curtain for the rest of the proceedings.

But then how could Todar Mal and Mrs. Todar Mal have been able to do a verbal aarti of Jodha Begum after he escaped being blown to smithereens by a whisker?😡

I plan to stay till the thunderstorm episode where Jalal looked like what you called Greek God!😳

Actually i loved the show till episode 80 only.Tiger track. Sukanya wedding track was just barely tolerable with a huffy puffy Jodha begum spitting fire for nothing. But i wouldn't miss the Ratanpur Qila episodes for anything. So till 100.

Can't stand any more of Jodha bhajans. Not even for Rajat.
