I am glad you enjoyed this one so much, Preeti, and especially that you agree with my intepretation of Jodha's reaction. I stick to it despite the alternative takes offered by Adiana and Devki.

I too liked both these episodes a lot.

Wow! amazing analysis of two very powerful episodes. In these two episodes it was Jalal, Jalal, Jalal all the way.

Episode 41:

You have described his An emotional fog and Rage exceedingly well. A very perceptive take on the reasons for his behaviour

"Methinks Jalal protesteth way too much; more than trying to humiliate Jodha, he is really trying to convince himself that this is what he feels, and this is why he behaves the way he does." Rather, it is one emotional outburst meant to cover up another emotional hurt, almost a wound, that is none the less deep for being unacknowledged, suppressed, and totally denied.

Loved you take above!!👏👏

If Jodha were to really try her hand at playing Delilah - though the mind boggles at the prospect! 😉- all this would go out of the window in a nanosecond. And even without it! As it does, of course, in the very next episode! 🤣 🤣- too funny !

Jodha: A curious conundrum:

And this 'truth' is something she is unable to stand. It reduces her to a level of abject misery never before seen on the face of this feisty young lady, who earlier stands firm in the face of great adversity, but is now crushed by the realization that Jalal hates her with a corrosive hatred. Why this should be so is something she, clearly, does not know. But perhaps we do!

Hmm! never thought of the above but have to agree with you completely.

Episode 42: The Emperor holds the aces! Yes he does indeed!!

He gets a 1000 UFFs from me for this episodes

500 for the Mansingh scene:

"Kanoon humse hai, hum kanoon se nahin! " 👏👏👏

500 for the Hamam scene

Symphony in flirtation:

How masterfully and I might add romantically you have described this hamam scene and what a wonderful title to this section.

Loved your take ...and loved these episodes

Take care and thank you

Thank you so much, Ela dear. I agree with all your comments, and yes, of course I will do my best on the farman issue. But which scene are you referring to,the one where he comes to her rooms and insists on her taking the farman?

The funny thing is that Jodha believes what Jalal tells her, and so does Jalal himself, whereas it is all mithya!

I agree with you on all counts today...I feel Jo was confident that Jallu wants her and this made her happy...even if she hates him( So what)...Now when she came to know there are many many as beautiful women in his harem, her confidence vanishes...and Jallu told her why he married her..She now stands on very unsure grounds...

Jallu was masterly in the scene with Maan...and he put down both AK and indirectly MA also...

Ruq was foolish in telling Jalal abt her conversation with Jodha...She herself is putting Jodha in his Zehen...

I have one request Shyamala...Plz write a long long para on farman scene which will come soon...Plz plz...Its one of my most favourite scene dear...

Get well soon...

Thank you darling.. Keep your fingers crossed for me. I want to protect my hands from getting twisted, and to be reasonably mobile, that is all. I will take care not to type too much, whence these short responses.

I am not going to stress my fingers, my dear Donjas, but I needed to thank you for such a remarkable endorsement. It was very thoughtful of you.

As for the rest, I see that we are on the same page. Yes, Paridhi was very good in the scene in her rooms, and looked very beautiful too.

I have a statement to make first. This series of posts by Shymala is a companion guide to the episodes. Those who miss out on it because they think that Shymala is too 'pro Rajat' and 'anti Jodha' are missing out big time on some fantastically intellectual series of posts. Posts that really make you think.

Besides from what I know of Shymala of my two years on this forum, is that Shymala is 'pro good story', 'pro good performances' and 'pro balance of characters'. Also if you read something that you do not agree with you can surely give your own opinions. This is a discussion board, people are expected to have differing opinions.

O.K now to the episodes. What a vivid description of the episodes. For the first episode where we had the Jalal Jodha face off, I do not know of a single thing to add. You have covered every base from the riveting confrontation to the reasons why our principal behaved the way they did. I particularly liked the acting, Rajat as usual was wonderful, just watch for that sudden eruption of anger when he sees the revulsion on Jodha's face as he comes closer. The mixture of anger and frustration was just right. Paridhi was very good too, the terror on her face felt real, so did her disgust in that same scene when Jalal's face comes closer. It also helps that even in all that fear she looked really beautiful.

On to the next episode which truly is a treat, and as I expected you explain with such clarity every single step in that psychological game that Jalal played with such mastery. It was a joy to watch and as much pleasure to read the sequence of steps. It was a difficult scene to enact and an ordinary actor would have faltered but not Rajat, he was in elements. Paridhi too did well with her hesitation and shyness. Once again looked really gorgeous.

I will advice you to take it cool, no need to reply to comments. The Shymala army will take care of it. This thread deserves to remain very active and I will do my bit. I can think of atleast three more points that I wish to make especially about 'fear conditioning' but that later, this post is already too long.

Jalal: Agree 100%. You have his mental state down perfectly.
Rukaiyya: Oh Boy! Is she insecure or what. I think the reason she feels the way she does with Jodha is because she must have remembered Jalal's secret excursion into Amer and then the marriage happened with all the religious freedom that he is giving his new wife. She has put two and two together and she definitely does not like or wants to even think about what the answer might be.
Why would someone go and tell a new bride that her husband is going use and discard her?
Jalal marrying over and over again is nothing new to her, but she still sees the need to go into Jodha's room and tell her not to feel too great about herself just because Jalal married her.😕
Jodha: Here I have a slightly different opinion. Jodha, I think must have thought that once she got married to Jalal, who has tons of other wives, might just put her in some corner and then forget about her. After all this was a political marriage and they do not share anything in common at all. What she did not expect is this full frontal verbal attack by her new husband. That would make anyone jittery.
No one likes to be told that they are hated to their face with such intensity, even by people they dislike. That's why the lamenting. I do think that she felt secretly flattered that Jalal might have a soft corner for her but I am not sure if that is the reason for her complaining to Mothi.
They are in the "I hate you"- "I hate you more" stage. Very corny and predictable but super cute.
The Hamaam scene: Was hot, hotter, hottest.

This was a very thoughtful review. Both your arguments have a lot of weight.

I disagree with the first one though. I don't think Ruqs has the brains to put two and two together. It is the way Jalal has behaved with his newly minted wife that must have unnerved her. First the sharts, then the rasgulla scene at the Jashn which everyone saw.

Your second argument is much more forceful but I find a tiny flaw. Remember that scene in the early episodes when Jodha sees Jalal's face everywhere and can't seem to forget. That shows a level of physical attraction and maybe something else too which she can sense. So, to hear that same person say that he hates her must be distressing.

My dear Devki (and Donjas),

Thank you for taking my piece of advice in good part, child,

Now for your comments. As for Ruqaiya, I agree with you bar the Amer adventure part. Ruqaiya I might have linked that to all that happened later, but not this one.

As for Jodha's abject despair at what Jalal says to her, I stick to my take, and not because I will not accept another point of view. As for the point made by Donjas, about which I have written at length earlier, that was hardly strong enough to produce such misery now. In fact Jodha buried that deep ever since she knew who it was.

Why would Jodha be so affected by Jalal's hating her if what you, Devki, say was true? One is not bothered when someone you see as the enemy says he hates you.

Why is there such a sense of her life having become pointless, of every moment being hard to get thru, when what he says about the way he, and others will treat her jells so perfectly with what she wants? He will leave her alone, and the others will accord her the due respect of a shahi begum. That should heaven for her. But it is not.

My take is the only one that holds water, for all that Jodha does not realise it.

Dear Shyamala Di!
Thanks again very much! A great pleasure to re-interpret these scenes with you. And a new understanding - with you!
Here are just a matter of translation. What said Jodha ??? (I can not make a translate !!!)
Humein in lagta tha ki ki Suraksha Amer ke Liye humne balidaan Diya Hai Par .. Sah to Yeh Hai, Moti, Jalal ne ki hamare Jeevan Ko narak banana ke Liye Hi humse Vivah Kiya Hai .. Apne ahankaar to santrusht karne ke Liye. . Socha Tha, Amer ke ke sammaan Liye jaise taise Apna Jivan Kaat Lenge .. Par AB EK ek pal kaatna Kathin dikh Raha Hai Moti .. Amer Jaana BHI asambhav Hai .. AB in hamare Jivan ka koyi aadhaar Hi Nahin ..Aur Marne ka adhikar Nahin Hai (she probably assumes that it would avenge Jalal Amer) .. Pata Nahin ab hum karein to Kya karein ..

In the Russian translation Jodha after the price of attack said: "I thought that sacrificed her happiness for the sake of Amer and this would be enough for me to live life in Agra. But Jalal married me to turn my life into hell, to amuse his pride in. I will had to commit suicide. "

In this context and this translation, Jodha had hoped that the marriage will be only political and fictitious action and not enters into a personal relationship. (Even in fairy tales "1001 Nights" is a very common practice, then when these wives were married for viziers or more for someone and fictitious husband have not touched they.)
Here again the illogic scenic image Jodha? So think could a girl of about 14, but Jodha - 20 years old . In the 16th century and now in the 21st century, women in the south (Caucasus, Central Asia) mature earlier (physiologically and psychologically). Jodha naivete looks very childish: despising Jalal, speaking about his contempt of women (womanizer), she hopes to respect for her as a person and as a woman.
Jalal said what?
Hum Hain shauhar tumhare..Haq Hamara Hai Tum tum par .. humse door reh sakti Kaise ho? Hum Jo chahe kar sakte Hain ..
Then a sharp volt face. Steam karenge Nahin .. Chooyenge BHI Nahin tumhein, kyonki hamare choone currently tumhari auqaat bad jayegi..Tum Hood to Khaas samajhogi..Tumhein lagega humein tumhari chah ki hai, humein tumse Mohabbat Hai .. Par hum Aisa Kabhi Nahin hone dengue.

(No translation, and I also might be translate otherwise?)

Plus there is something else that is there, deep inside, that is hurt by her disdain and her despising him.

That magical feeling when Jalal saw Jodha in a palanquin, when his eyes lit admiration for something pure and fragile, that can not be broken, dirty ... And then suddenly he hears that she his hate and despise. But the pure light, it seems to me, it continues to burn in him, although he is not aware. He breaks her bracelets, but the way he throws her on the wall, it seems to me, on the understanding that he would not be able to commit any violence. She turns away his face and he did not kiss her - he was hurt.
I'd like to discuss and understand.😊

I am not sure, Donjas. Unless Rajat goes into films, which is pure luck, the run of the mill male roles in TV will hardly suit him. So, if he has to stay in TV, and he cannot sit at home for too long, something like this will be much better for him that becoming a Manav or Arjun (in Pavitra Rishta). That would be a disaster, for he would never carry conviction.

Come to think of it, he can become the Charlton Heston of Hindi TV!

The good thing about this project is that there can be no heroine worship, as in Jodha Akbar. Helen is peripheral, as would be his other wife or wives, and the only person he would relate to would be Chanakya. A lot depends on the casting of Chanakya, and I hope it is not Ronit Roy!

Unfortunately, on reflection this news does not excite me. Rajat will once again be king, so he will have three king roles in his resume. I hope such a great actor is not remembered mockingly as the "king wala actor". Look at poor Govinda, a good actor(look at his performance in Hatya) but he will forever be remembered as the actor of vulgar comedy movies. He has been type cast and he is stuck.

In a world so full of great roles what was the need for another king role by Rajat. It is not as if Chandragupta Maurya is an awe inspiring never done before story. It was done just a few years back(on Imagine and lasted for 100 episodes). I was bored to death and made a vow never to watch any Hindi language program again. It is for this reason that I started so late on JA.
