Hello Shyamalaji!
I hope u feel better soon. Ur analysis was great to read as always. I agreed with most of it but as far as jodhas reaction to jalal's drunk declaration I think more than anything else it was sadness n helplessness mixed for she realised how alone n helpless she was and that jalal could anytime do whatever he wanted with her n she could not prevent it. I think the feeling of fear for the first time in her life was what broke her more than jalal declaring that he didn't want her. For the first time in her pampered n loved life she has faced pain n fear so I think her reaction was more towards what the future held for her rather than the sadness of being rejected by jalal.
As for ruqqaiya her ego is bigger than jalal n she feels she can play him any way she feels like. What she doesn't realise is that by instigating jalal against jodha she is in fact bringing more attention towards jodha than she should. Her constant tricks to remind jalal of jodhas mistakes n ego are only succeeding in making jalal more aware n attentive towards jodha even if it's in a negative manner. Instead of trying to make him forget abt jodha like all his other wives she is herself reminding jalal of jodha constantly.
As for Mahamanga she is the only one in the palace who can see the future n knows that the non existence of jalal's 'dil' is not true. I loved her dialogue saying that love n hate both reside in ur heart itself.
As for jalal I do think that he can't handle the fact that jodha doesn't realize how great he is. I also think that his anger was not only for his ego getting hurt by the rejection but that he wanted to show ruqqaiya that he is not weak.

I am bored of this devdas stuff mandy - Are there no other characters or novels which can be converted into good serials ? Finite is fine and not this bubble gum where the story morphs into a deformed one with Khyber, cave man, ghost and mirchi war etc.
Indian telly seriously lacks funding for new thoughts. Interestingly it happens in cinema. Once in a while you see a FOX or YRF or Dharma or VIACOM doing a small but interesting project.
I agree with donjas that doing CGM could definitely put Rajat in a type cast shell.

jaya, i agree! but what are the choices out there? not many unfortunately! he has to make his living somehow, maybe cannot afford to just sit home and wait for the right opportunity, he has to grab what is relatively better than just playing a furniture in most of the sbs sagas where naari shakti is mahaan and the halo is around the female character and the rest revolves around her..now can we see our rajat in such a show?..then what is left? mythological or even historical maybe!..but i want him to be in an underworld type role, i am pretty sure he will play a negative to the T!

JAYA, WITH PHs LIKE BALAJI DISHING OUT CRASS SHOWS, FOR THE MOST PART, WHERE WOULD THERE BE A HOPE FOR A SHOW BASED ON A GOOD BOOK?

IF EK OR SOME OTHER PH WANTS THEY CAN CERTAINLY DO WONDERS, BUT UNFORTUNATELY WHEN CRAP IS SUCCESSFUL. WHY WOULD THEY BOTHER

TAKE TAGORE TALES BY ANURAG BASU, FOR EXAMPLE - ABSOLUTELY AMAZING - BUT SUCH SHOWS ARE TOO FEW AND TOO FAR BETWEEN. AND THEY NEED A PERSON LIKE BASU TO BELIEVE IN THEM AND GO ALL OUT AS FAR AS THE SETS, COSTUMES, CINEMATOGRAPHY, SCRIPT AND DIALOGUES IS CONCERNED

I AGREE WITH THE TYPECAST LOGIC, BUT I WOULD PREFER SEEING RAJAT AT CGM THAN OTHER RUN OF THE MILL STUFF, WHICH IS, TO SAY THE LEAST, HORRIBLE (IMAGINE RAJAT DOING SOMETHING LIKE TASHN E ISHQ 😡)

AND I AM SURE RAJAT TOO WOULD PREFER TO TAKE UP A CGM THAN SITTING AT HOME

I personally want to see him in godfather type roles or scarface as he has that underworld goon type personality! A bad boy role will really suit him!

MANDY, I WOULD NEVER BET ON BT TO DO A FINITE SERIES EVER. LOOK AT WHAT SHE DID TO JA - KHYBER, BLACK MAGIC, BENAZIR, AFEEMING - ALL THIS AND MORE IN A SHOW ABOUT A LARGER THAN LIFE PERSONALITY AND ONE OF GREATEST EMPERORS. EK BT CAN STRETCH ANYTHING TILL KINGDOM COME 😡

AND YES RAJAT IS BETTER OFF PORTRAYING SUCH GREAT CHARACTERS. EVEN WHEN JA WAS AT ITS WORST, WE SAW RAJAT GIVING AND CONTRIBUTING TO THE ROLE N CHARACTER

FILMS COULD CEETAINLY BE A OPTION FOR HIM. BUT HE NEEDS A GOOD DIRECTOR WHO CAN BELIEVE IN HIM AND FIVE HIM THE ROLE THAT HE DESERVES. I CANNOT THINK OF EVEN ONE EMPHATIC EXAMPLE OF A TV STAR DOING REALLY REALLY WELL IN FILMS. MOST OF THEM EITHER DO NON LEAD ROLES OR DO A SINGLE FILM

BUT YES, AS SHYAMALA AUNTY SAYS, RAJAT CERTAINLY NEEDS A GOOD AGENT AND A GOOD PR TEAM FOR HIM TO BAG GOOD ROLES IN DIFFERENT GENRES

I meant the agent for doing the PR for Rajat and finding him the roles. He does not seem to have anyone, and it is much better for an agent to scout around for roles first and then the actor to do the follow up.

Not that I want Rajat to do a Suryaputra Karn, which is pretty dismal from what I could gather from the 2/3 episodes that I watched, but Gautam Rode seems to go effortlessly from one lead role to another. He is on to his third - Saraswatichandra, Mahakumbh, and now Suryaputra Karn - to my knowledge. I am sure he has an excellent agent.

An actor has to make his living, and he cannot sit at home waiting for the perfect role, as you would agree. In the early days of Jodha Akbar, one read that Balaji had set up a Talent Development Agency to promote young actors, and both Rajat and Paridhi had signed up as their clients. I do not know what happened to that.

I even wonder if such multi-layered roles are even being written for Indian TV Shyamala. One can only do what is being made and that too if one is offered a chance. And its not just a matter of agent, its also a matter of getting chosen by a PH as well - but most of all its a matter of such roles actually being created.

My dear (what is your name, if you do not mind? I cannot call you my dear KanJmaskis!),

What do I say when faced with such lavish and obviously heartfelt praise but a most sincere and equally heartfelt thank you?

And where have you been all this time since I started these standalone posts in this forum, right from Episode 1? I would never have missed you! Anyhow, better late than never, and I am delighted that you have joined our kaaravaan!

I like Ur explanation of ja' s anger upon her rejection... Rajat' s expressions to express any emos is always authentic and best bt seems angry shots r his favourite ones they have their own ' Bat ' or may be they suites him more 😃😃 ... Ur analysis in ' What the reason and y ' paragraph is amazing and perfect as ja soliloquy which we expected to see in the show... The wall pinning scene curtain tearing all had increased the voltage of drama perfectly ...about jo's emos not ever thought like that bt now have to admit it ...
Yup...there was only maham who can see what in ja ' s mind ... A far vision lady bt ruk to ruk hai iski samajh me kuch ni anewala ... I wonder that in serial y everybody say she rules on ja's mind ...even i think not she the one who rules on his mind bt ja let her think soo...

Maan scene ...totally agree with u he always managed to give his touch in every scene... And as u say it becomes sone pe suhaaga 😉
And so as Hamam scene was also fab and a drooltonic for our eyes 😆😆
Ur deatailed analysis of each and every scene is fantastic and Very highclass... Loved it 👏

My dear Vinita,

First of all, thank you for your concern, but I am afraid that with rheumatoid arthritis, there is no such thing as feeling better, it is simply a struggle, as the Red Queen says in Alice in Wonderland, to run fast enough to stay in the same place, and not let one's joints deteriorate. I am doing my best. Let me see how long I am able to continue with these posts.

Thank you also for liking this post so much. As for your comments, I agree with you 100% about Ruqaiya, especially that thanks to his indulgence, her ego is bigger even than Jalal's. Also about Maham Anga.

As for Jalal, I do not see how he could have expected Jodha to do anything else but hate him, for he got a candid account of the depth of her hatred for him on his Amer escapade, not to speak of her pre-wedding behaviour . Perhaps that actually added spice to the idea of taming her. I think what angered him the most was that Jodha's rejection of him came to him thru Ruqaiya, and that hurt his ego more than anything else.

As for proving to Ruqaiya that he is not weak, how would she know what happened between Jodha and Jalal that night, apart from the fact that he came back to her? I doubt if he would have given her a blow by blow account.

Actually, his rejection of Jodha is a last minute face-saving gesture to pay her back for the revulsion she shows when he draws near to her. If she had not displayed that revulsion, but only shyness or even fear, he would not, for all his harsh comments of a moment earlier, have left her hoojra at all that night.

But it is about Jodha's reaction that I have to differ from your take and stick to my own, and this not because I cannot accept a contrary view. If Jodha had been afraid of what Jalal might do to her - despite his elaborate affirmation that he would never even touch her, and that she would get all the respect due to a shahi begum in the harem and outside it - what she says to Moti would have been something like : Mujhe is Jallad par tanik bhi vishwas nahin hai, Moti. Na jaane hamare saath kab kya karega yeh dusht. Humein pehli baar bhay lag raha hai, Moti, hum ab kya karein? And there would have been on her face the fear that is there when Jalal is crowding her and breaking her bangles.

But that is not what she says, nor is there any fear on her face, but only abject misery. As for what she says, which I have deliberately reproduced verbatim, it conveys only the sense of her life having become pointless, of every moment being hard to get thru. This when what Jalal says about the way he, and others will treat her jells so perfectly with what she wants. He will leave her alone, and the others will accord her the due respect of a shahi begum. That should heaven for her, for given all this, and no matter what he says, how can he make her life a narak? But it is not.

My take is the only one that holds water, for all that Jodha does not realise it, and will not realise it for roughly another 250 episodes!

My dear Ashwinee,

This is without exception the sweetest message anyone has sent me of late. Thank you, child, for though there is nothing you or anyone else can do to take the pain away, what matters to me is the thought. And that soothes me, even my poor fingers!

Take care, my dear.

Affectionately,

Shyamala Aunty

I absolutely loved this one. But the pain you endure to create these masterpieces! I wish there was something I could do to take that pain away. I had hoped that the bonfires on the last thread would help and had even tried to do my bit by adding a 'samidha' or two😛 Just kidding aunty! Can't bear the inability to be of help! And do not have Anjali's hunar to do anything creative about it so just a 🤗

Hoping to add more later. Wishful thinking!😭

Warmest regards
Ashwinee
